APARTMENT DETAILS
BUILDING/SPACE: On arrival you will see that the building is a traditional walk-up tenement, which means you need to be comfortable walking up two flights of stairs with your luggage. The apartment is ideal for 2 guests but can sleep 3-4 guests. Over 90% of my guests are families of 3 or 4 people.
KITCHEN: The Kitchen is fully outfitted for those who want to cook. There is a gas stove with restaurant burners, a microwave, Refrigerator/freezer plus other smaller appliances such as a coffee press, blenders(multiple ones) and toasters - all ready for you. You are welcome to any spices or other the food items in the cabinets. This is an honor system so please replace yourself an items used up or let me know so it is there for the next guest.
LIVING ROOM: The main room has an open kitchen & living room floorplan with two large windows that provide tons of sunlight. There is a window air conditioner too, one of quietest in the market. If you forget your converter, all the lamps in the living room have built in usb ports to charge your electronics.
BEDROOM: As the bedroom is located away from the street, you will discover it is normally very quiet. I have added a barnyard style door so guests have some privacy when in the bedroom, as the layout was originally designed for 1 person or a couple.
The bedroom also has a window air conditioner (extremely quiet) and a wall heating unit. This way you can set the perfect room temperature for your needs without concern for those in the living room. You will have the entire dresser and half the big closet for your personal items.
BATHROOM: The bathroom, though not brand new, is in great condition & kept very clean. I provide a hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner and body wash since most guest will be flying to NYC and I know how precious that luggage space can be.
EXTRA BED: As of 8/25/25 the extra bed is a Queen size Murphy Bed in the living room with a regular mattress. This will make opening and closing the bed during the day very easy, allowing your group to have full use of the living space.
LAUNDRY: Sadly, there are no laundry facilities in the apartment or in the building. But did you really come to NYC to do wash?! If you must do wash, try one of the local methods: Wash in the sink, do it yourself at a laundromat or pay them to wash it for you(my personal preference)!
I can recommend local laundromats and wash & fold services. The one I use can provide same-day service with free pick-up & drop off and isonly a block away.
LUGGAGE: I do not hold luggage for guests before or after a stay. I do not wat my cleaners to be responsible for others belongings especially as the insurance is not active before or after the stay. Plus this can overlap with an outgoing or incoming guests time in the apartment.
I can recommend luggage storage companies located all over NYC that will store you bags for as little as $5 a day.
OTHER DETAILS:
1. The building is generally quiet. I ask my guests to respect my neighbors and remain quiet in the hallway, especially at night, because the sound echoes in the hall and stairway.
2. There is a fireplace in the apartment, but guests are not permitted to use it
3. There are two flights of stairs leading to my apartment and there is no elevator.
4. The sofa is not a sleeper, and it should not be utilized as one.
5. This is a non-smoking apartment, this includes cigarettes, cigars, vaping and any form of smoking marijuana. Violation of this rule will come with immediate evictions without refund plus a $500 to remove the smell from all the upholstery.
6. No illegal drugs allowed in or used in the apartment. Discovery will come with being evicted immediately with no refund. Doing illegal drugs(anything not legal for you to use) is not just against my rules, itis against the law.
RECAP: I did my best to be as honest about the listing as possible. If i skipped a detail important to you, please feel free to ask. I want only guests confident they picked the right spot for them.
NO COMMERCIAL FILMING WITHOUT PRIOR WRITTEN PERMISSION.

Helen’s place was a great place! It was really centrally located in east village and near the subway, and everything was clean. Helen was very responsive and we had an easy check in. No complaints!
I can't say enough about how excellent a host Helen was for us- she was very quick to respond to questions before, during and even after our stay. She was quick to offer solutions to any problems that arose; we had some issues with a wheelchair rental company and Helen was a lifesaver. Helen's apartment was clean and tidy- with more than enough space for our family of three. It was quiet and well lit in the front room, with a MASSIVE tv! The location is also astonishingly convenient- 4 minutes walk to the metro and so close to Little Italy and the up and coming Ukrainian Village- good coffee, bagels and everything else you could want. We all agree we would return in a heartbeat!
We enjoyed our stay at Helen's place. It worked well for our group of 4. Helen was very responsive. The neighborhood was great with lots to do.
Helen was wonderfully communicative leading up to and during our stay, and my family and I loved the location. The neighborhood is incredibly walkable, filled with amazing food, and easily accessible through public transportation!
We really enjoyed staying at Helen’s New York apartment. Helen was always helpful and her place was perfect for our needs, close to nearby family and accommodating of two extra people for a couple of days during our stay. A very comfortable vacation, thanks for making our trip extra enjoyable
The apartment was exactly what we needed for our sightseeing week with two teenagers: very centrally located, many shops and restaurants in walkable distance, good public transport and on the other hand a nice quiet place to relax with a fully equipped kitchen and a nice living room. Helen was such a great host, always answered really fast and had many helpful tips. And she is really a nice person. So we highly recommend.
Just loved this place and the vibe of the neighborhood; over our five days my daughters and I got to know several of the staff members especially from the corner deli and pizza businesses! Also, me made it a point to use the subway daily which was a short walk. Helen was great to work with; the apartment description was 100% accurate plus the apartment was very quite! Lastly, we enjoyed the convenience and quality of the large screen TV and the quality air conditioning units!
We had a great stay. The unit was just what we needed. It was super close to everything. We usually are on the upper west side, so it was fun to get to know a new neighborhood! Helen's place was in a very cool area and she was a very accommodating host - she was responsive to messages, she gave a good clear introduction to the space and the building - all in all very easy and flexible. thank you Helen!
Helen's place was wonderful. My friend and I had a great time. The place is centered located in East village, close to many attractions. The place was cozy and felt like home. Helen was kind and responsive. The Extra Mattress set up was perfect and comfortable, We still had plenty of room. highly recommend.
Nice East Village location, within walking distance of most anything needed. Helen responded promptly to messages, and checked to see that everything was going well during my stay.
Everything was perfect! From the booking through to check-out Helen communicated everything we needed to know and made sure we had everything we needed. She was even able to accommodate a last minute guest addition to our trip! The location is right in the middle of everything that is great about the lower east side. Next time we come to NYC we will look to book here again.
Very comfortable and clean apartment. It is nicely located close to many restaurants and bars. Helen really makes you feel like you are at home. Highly recommend this place!
Helen's communication was top-notch and her place is very comfortable! It was great to have the extra space that I knew I wouldn't have had in a regular hotel. The location is very convenient to many locations in NYC, including Greenwich Village and the High Line. I sure did a lot of walking over my weekend!
Helen is an awesome host! She made my friends and I feel welcome from the moment we walked in. She was also super responsive to any questions we had during our stay, and even provided us with some things to do in the area. The apartment itself is clean and perfect for anyone looking to explore the city, as it’s close to many restaurants/bars AND the subway. Will definitely stay again! Response fro

My home is in the heart of the East Village/LES area, known for its restaurants, nightlife & vintage shopping. There is something about the mix of artists, business professionals and the average joe in my area that keeps it exciting and fresh. The restaurants are some of the best in the city, and a few the world, within just a 5 block radius. I have lived in this apartment for about 25 years now and am renting it out as I find myself with obligations that cause me to be out of the city. I love my home with its great light in the living room and working gas fireplace in the winter. The two combined on a winters day is fantastic I am a native New Yorker willing to share any tips or ideas for experiencing my hometown. Want to shop? I will send you to the area best suited to your needs. Museums? I will tell you which are actually free. I find guests who tend to see more than just midtown, experiencing the real areas locals live and exploring their own personal interests, tend to have the best trips.
