Overview
Maidensea House is located in Maidencombe, a tranquil village nestled on the slopes surrounding Torbay. The village has a beautiful little beach with an excellent cafe, and is also home to "The Thatched Tavern" an award winning pub. The South West Coast path passes just a few yards from the house, giving access to many lovely walks, and you can rent Paddle Boards and Kayaks at the beach, from where you can explore the coastline. For the more adventurous "Rock Solid" who are based in the village provide a range of coasteering challenges for all ages.
Maidensea House has been redesigned and completely refurbished (2022) to a very high standard, specifically for celebrating group holidays. From the large open plan living, cooking, dining area which is perfect for entertaining, to the cinema room, games room and indoor swimming pool, there is plenty to do for all ages, whatever the weather.
The house sits in half an acre of landscaped gardens, including a wildflower area and mature beds. In the centre of the garden sits a large patio area with an outside table and chairs to provide al-fresco dining for 16 people, in a beautiful setting with far reaching seaviews.
The house has 8 ensuite bedrooms all equipped with double beds, with the option for arranging 5 of them as twins. Each bedroom is different, and every bathroom is special with walk-in wet rooms equipped with digital rainfall showers, and two also have baths. Four of the bedrooms have beautiful sea views, and the remaining bedrooms have views of the courtyard and the rolling countryside beyond.
One of the bedrooms is located on the ground floor, accompanied with a large generously proportioned ensuite, making this bedroom suitable for someone who might have a problem with stairs. A shower chair and toilet frame can be provided if necessary. The doors to all the main downstairs areas are extra wide allowing access for a wheelchair, and the house, games room, pool, and garden can all be accessed without the need for steps.
Maidencombe is a quiet residential village, and out of respect for our neighbours we ask that no music is played outside, and that external noise is minimised after 9.30 pm.
We regret we can not allow pets, and we do not accept bookings from Hen or Stag parties.

Fantastic house, incredibly well done up with excellent attention to detail. Kids loved the pool, and the cinema room especially. The finishing touches are phenomenal. Looking forward to find an excuse to return. We hired a local chef for the time there and he commented that he had never been in a better equipped kitchen. Many thanks Ant and Sandra.

Maidensea House is a 5* holiday home without a doubt. It was the perfect destination for my husbands 40th birthday holiday. We stayed with two other young families and made full use of the pool, games room and cinema room. The house is immaculately presented, with everything you could need for your stay. The beds are very comfortable, the views are incredible and the hosts are lovely. We loved the path to the beach, the local pub and we visited several local attractions which were also great for kids. Thanks very much for a great stay Sandra!
Maidensea House is just fabulous in every way, from the villa to the grounds and indoor heated pool to the marvelous location a short walk to the beach, cafe and particularly nice pub. With 8 beautiful and unique bedrooms, each with en suite modern bathroom, it was perfect for our family and friends. We enjoyed the screening room, the game room with pool table and Ping-Pong table, but mostly we enjoyed the state-of-the-art kitchen and two beautiful dining areas one outside and one inside. We loved having two dishwashers and two large refrigerators. Everything was clean, modern and perfect for a group of 16. I owned a villa rental business for 27 years and have seen and experienced the best and Maidensea House was top of the top.
We had a wonderful stay at Maidensea House for a family celebration. The house was immaculate and was well equipped with everything you would need. The swimming pool was amazing and games room was great too. Beautiful sea views to wake up to the in the morning and was nice being a short walk from the beach. Was a great place to stay for a family celebration covering all ages! Sandra and Ant were great hosts, easy to book from start to finish. We all had a great enjoyable weekend.
We had the most fantastic week here for a family reunion. The location is stunning - the house has incredible sea views, there is a brilliant local beach with a cute cafe and a lovely local pub, a 5 mins walk away. Lots of amazing coastal walks. The house is fabulous, spacious, beautifully kitted out, and with en-suites for all eight bedrooms, a dream for a large gathering. Sandra and Ant were just best hosts, so kind and responsive. We couldn't have asked for more!
Wow ! Maidensea is a perfect house! I cannot fault the house or our hosts for anything at all. Sandra and Ant were a pleasure to deal with and really responsive. I wholeheartedly recommend Maidensea for your holiday / getaway. I hired the house for a group of 16 adults for my 40th birthday. Sandra helped me to find a caterer and made some great suggestions for activities for the weekend. I organised a murder mystery evening with a chef and we had a fantastic evening on the Saturday night. The kitchen had everything we needed and it was all excellent quality, two large fridges additional bottle fridges and two dishwashers made keeping the kitchen tidy really easy. The welcome gift was very much enjoyed by us all too. All of the bedrooms are en-suite with an individually designed bathroom for each room, which is a lovely touch. The beds and sheets were “like sleeping in a cloud” according to one of my friends. The complimentary cosmetics were excellent quality and smelled beautiful. It was so peaceful and relaxing and such a treat to wake up and see the sea from our bed. The indoor pool is fantastic, it’s a lovely temperature and if it is nice weather you could open the sliding doors and it would feel as if it were an outdoor pool. All of my guests were really impressed with the house and all the facilities, nothing was broken the house was immaculate. We would absolutely go back again!
