A self catering holiday home a stone's throw away from the River Coquet in the beautiful Village of Rothbury. Built of natural sandstone by Lord Armstrong of the famous Cragside Estates in the 1870's.
The property is deceptively spacious and comprises of an entrance hallway, fitted kitchen with gas hob and electric oven, dishwasher, microwave and fridge freezer.
The spacious lounge/diner comfortably seats four people and there is a twin bedroom, double bedroom and family bathroom with washer/dryer. Outside there is a small private courtyard with storage shed.
The picturesque Village of Rothbury has excellent shops, restaurants and amenities and is located on the edge of the Northumberland National Park, providing an ideal base to explore rural Northumberland.
We are happy to accept one well behaved dog at this property and there is a pet fee payable with your booking of £20 per dog(s). Please enquire if you have more than one dog and let us know the breed and we still may accept your booking.
A range of amenities including local shops, post office, cafés, country pubs and restaurants are all within easy walking distance of the property. There are numerous local tourist attractions, riverside walks and scenic countryside within the immediate vicinity.
Don't forget to bring some bread along to feed the ducks by the river! The stunning coastline of Northumberland is just a short distance away. Cheviot View is the ideal base to explore all that Northumberland has to offer, from it's famous castles and award-winning beaches to walks, cycling, golf, water sports and fishing or one of the county's many attractions.

Northumberland is a wonderful combination of fishing villages, old market towns, endless beaches, stunning castles and of course the historic Hadrian's Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and a vast array of unique wildlife. Northumberland covers over 400 square miles, with the Northumberland National Park being the least populated of England's National Parks, much to the benefit of those visitors seeking peace and solitude.
It's an ideal haven for walkers too, with thousands of paths and tracks weaving their way through beautiful countryside, providing exhilarating fresh air and wide-open spaces for walkers and cyclists alike.
The Heritage Coastline has mile upon mile of sparkling award-winning beaches, rocky coves and picturesque fishing villages. From Berwick-upon-Tweed in the north, to Druridge Bay in the south, there are a huge number of beaches and coastal towns to explore. Popular destinations along the coastline include the horseshoe-shaped sandy beach and dunes at Beadnell Bay, the bustling village of Seahouses, with boat trips from the picturesque harbour, the kipper smokery and coastal path at Craster and the picture postcard village of Alnmouth.
Adding to the area's splendour is the multitude of magnificent castles, the most famous being Alnwick, home to the powerful Percy family and the setting for some of the Harry Potter films. There is also the spectacular, medieval Bamburgh Castle, standing high on its rocky outcrop; the brooding ruins of Dunstanburgh and pretty Warkworth.
Known locally as the Capital of Coquetdale, the traditional Northumbrian village of Rothbury is built on a sandstone hillside. It offers an excellent range of shops, with many art galleries, tea rooms, cafes and pubs. It makes a very convenient base for fishing and for walking into the Northumberland National Park and Simonside, as well as offering less strenuous riverside walks.
Rothbury lies near the centre of rural Northumberland, 12 miles from Alnwick, 15 miles from Morpeth and 29 miles from Newcastle upon Tyne. As such it has been a local centre since the 13th century and at various times had a castle, a market and magistrate's court. Nearby Cragside House and Gardens, home to Lord Armstrong is perhaps the most famous attraction in the area.

Exploring the beautiful outdoors is definitely a theme in what there is to do in and around Rothbury. It's perfectly set up for the serious walker with the Northumberland National Park and Simonside on your doorstep. There's also plenty circular walks that have Rothbury as a starting and finishing point. The area is also excellent for the keen sports person with fishing on the River Coquet and also at nearby Fontburn Reservoir. Cragside House and Gardens, the home of Lord Armstrong is just a couple of miles away and makes a fascinating day out for all the family. Other recommended places of interest include Brinkburn Priory and Goats on the Roof.

Rothbury serves as a hub for the outlying Villages and as such has a good choice of places to eat and drink. You might be surprised to hear that in such a small place not only are there a number of pubs and cafes, but there is also an Italian restaurant and an Indian restaurant! The numerous cafes are extremely popular with the walkers and there is a good choice on offer here as well. There are also a number of country pubs in the Rothbury area that are worth visiting.

Rothbury has an award-winning selection of local, independent shops in which you can buy practically anything from meat to shoes and wine. We have highlighted the best in independent retailers including crafts and gifts, food shops, supermarkets and clothing. There are also a number of art and crafts galleries that celebrate and sell original and local crafts.
Events in Rothbury
Rothbury Music Festival celebrates the popularity of Folk and Traditional music in the area. The Festival takes place in July each year, has been running for over thirty years and now draws musicians from around the country. Rothbury has it's own Highland Pipe Band who always open the proceedings and display their marching and plating skills. The event consumes the whole Village with many performances and ceilidh's across the weekend. Another popular event is the Rothbury and Coquetdale Walking Festival that takes place in June annually. With many walks of differing lengths and difficulty in a period of just over a week there really is something for everybody. Visit their website for more information.
Rothbury Tourist Information Centre (one of the main centre's for the Northumberland National Park) is located in the Coquetdale Centre in the middle of the Village by the Church. Rothbury Community Cinema was set up with the aim to bring interesting and entertaining films to the area on a regular basis without local people having to make a 60 mile round trip to the cinema. There are usually two films shown every month on a Friday evening and entrance is free (however, a small donation is requested for the use of the Jubilee Hall to pay for the heating etc). Check their website for film times. Other amenities include Rothbury Bowling Club, Coquetdale Swimming and Fitness Centre, Rothbury Lawn Tennis Club, Rothbury Football Club and Rothbury Cricket Club.

River Neuk was a beautiful cottage, imaculate and in a perfect location. The welcome basket and welcome letter was a lovely touch.
The owners have made this more of a home from home feel with loads of axtra amenities provided rather than a standard holiday let.
We would certainly recommend and would love to return in the near future.
Had a great week - excellent location with good selection of local stores, bank etc. which was convenient ... along with being a good base for visiting a number of places in Northumberland in all directions. (Coast & inland areas)
Quiet with immediate access to riverside walk.
Accommodation clean, spacious - very relaxing, equipped with everything you'd need for your stay.
Good value, would highly recommend.
This is the second time we have stayed at River Neuk , and we would definitely stay again . The house is well equipped and comfortable.
This is a good base for exploring the many areas of interest and the village itself has pubs and hotels and a few shops a very short walk from the house.
Karen has left a welcome pack and fresh flowers on both occasions we have stayed which was a nice touch.
The place was very homely and the fresh flower's and hamper made you feel very welcome,the place was in a great location for visiting places and overall it was all beautiful
