Overview

Visit Northumberland and discover the best Northumberland has to offer. Whatever your interest Northumberland can accommodate; this historic county has amazing castles such as Bamburgh, Walkworth, Alnwick and Dunstanburgh to name a few; country houses such as Cragside, Wallington and Belsay offer fantastic insight into the great industrial revolutionists of the area , such as Lord Armstrong.
Rothbury is situated adjacent to Cragside House which was the home of Lord Armstrong and was the first house in the world to be lit by hydroelectricity. Currently owned by the National Trust there is plenty to do for everyone. With one of the largest rock gardens in Europe Cragside House has an iron bridge, formal gardens, lakeside walks, adventure play area and labyrinth especially for the children.
Other National Trust properties in the area include Wallington, Dunstanburgh Castle, the Farne Islands and Lindisfarne Castle on Holy Island.
A short journey from Rothbury you can find Alnwick Gardens and Alnwick Castle. The Castle is still the home of the Duke of Northumberland and has been used as a film location for films such as Harry Potter, Blackadder and Elizabeth.
The Northumberland coastline offers some fantastic sandy beaches such as Embleton and Alnmouth to either spend the day or simply have a leisurely walk along. Bamburgh Castle located near Seahouses offers a great insight into the turbulent history of Northumbria from medieval times to more recent history with Lord Armstrong's family.
Rothbury is situated on the outskirts of the Northumberland National Park and offers an excellent base in which to explore the beauty of the park. The National Park offers something for everyone whatever your interest. Walkers love this area because of the spectacular trails throughout the area.
Kielder Water is less than 30 miles away and has a range of activities including; walking trails, mountain biking trails, fishing, horse riding, water activities, wildlife and adventure activities. Whatever your preference Kielder is an ideal location for a daily excursion.

Very comfy beds, well equipped including washer/dryer, freezer as well as fridge, and dishwasher. Very spacious rooms and entrance area. The view from the main bedroom, lounge and dining area are absolutely fabulous. In a very peaceful location but easy access to Rothbury with its big range of good food shops, places to eat and 'specialist' shops (for shoes, clothes, craft wools, antiques, outdoor walking gear and even a toyshop!)
Beautiful places to explore along river valleys, into the hills, out to the coast and sites of historic interest (Hadrian's Wall, Alnwick and its Castle & gardens, Wallington Hall, Cragside, Belsay to name but a few). Our 2nd stay at Westcliffe House (stayed in River View last year) and definitely the kind of place to come to again and again!

Another wonderful stay in Coquet View in Westcliffe House. This was our 5 or 6 time and the apartment is always perfect. Apart from the space, cleanliness and high quality furnishings, the service Andrew provides is lovely. He responds to any questions quickly and always offers fresh towels, bed linen and a clean around between weeks (we generally stay 2-3 weeks at a time). We have stayed in many holiday lets in the village of Rothbury and, although all have been good, Coquet View is our favourite and offers the best value for money. We would have no hesitation in recommending this apartment to couples and small family groups

Another fabulous weeks stay at Cheviot View! The apartment was spotless, well equipped and very comfortable. The views and local walks are wonderful and it was lovely to see the various breeds of new born lambs in the surrounding fields. Looking forward to being back very soon!

Great stay. Lovely spacious apartment with fantastic views over the valley. About a km from the centre of Rothbury, so really quiet. Walks from the front door. Wonderful for dogs. Agents really helpful. Couldn’t ask for more.

Our adult family had a most enjoyable stay at Coquet view. We found the property spacious, clean and well equipped. We particularly liked the balconies and were able to make use of them to enjoy the lovely south-facing views in the beautiful weather which we had for the week. We were tempted to stay there all day!! We did actually visit many places in the area, including old favourites and new discoveries.
