'An'Cromaich', is the Gaelic translation of Applecross, meaning 'The Sanctuary’.

Established in 631AD by Saint Maelrubba, Applecross today retains a character of outstanding natural beauty in a timeless place apart. And in our wonderful March weather this is much in evidence - we have added two March photographs

The cottage sits on a hillock, wholly isolated on a site of 12 acres extending to the shore, and looking across the sea to the Torridon Mountains. The expansive views are staggering and dynamic; things do not appear the same on a second glance!

There is much to explore within walking distance. A carless cottage based holiday is an option.

Wonderful beaches and pretty coves and impressive hill walks providing staggering views. Wildlife visitors including dolphin, porpoise, the White Tailed Eagle, Otter, (currently a holt with kits) and our ever popular Pine Marten, visiting the cottage nightly for treats.

Sit and enjoy the ever changing views and drama of the loch and mountains. Go exploring the rock pools at low tide and wander around on the peninsula loosing yourself in its timeless views. There are also opportunities for low and high level walking. In the hills behind there is a rowing boat, on a lovely sandy bottomed loch, ideal for fishing, swimming and play, moreover, totally private and isolated.

No need for a car, everything you need for an exceptional holiday, unshackled from the everyday, is immediate.

You can buy fabulous langoustines, freshly fished from the sea, smoked fish and cheeses, just a few miles from the cottage at McIver Shellfish/Applecross Smokehouse, in Kenmore. The local food is a rare treat.

The accommodation is designed as a large cosy intimate setting for two, combining modern comfort with traditional cottage design; a blazing coal fire to snuggle up to with huge views pouring into the living space. You will feel connected to the views surrounding you. And, we have a family of pine marten who visit nightly and who are happy to pose for photographs.

At Fearnmore Church a feeling of of being unshackled, of having left the everyday world behind, is immediate. No one leaves without a sense of having been touched by it. More especially in these difficult days of normal life in suspended animation.
