A charming cottage situated in the quiet Suffolk village of Friston. The cottage has been thoughtfully furnished and is on the doorstep of the very popular seaside town of Aldeburgh.

Overview

Little Chequers is a charming cottage situated in a row of 4 terraced cottages down a private lane in the middle of the quiet Suffolk village of Friston, just 4 miles from the popular coastal town of Aldeburgh,

The cottage is deceptively large inside and has been thoughtfully decorated and furnished to a high standard. The accommodation consists of a fully equipped Kitchen, downstairs toilet and cloakroom, large lounge and a conservatory/dining room . Upstairs there is a large king size bedroom, a single bedroom and a good sized bathroom. Outside there is a pretty garden to the rear with garden furniture, a decking area and patio area. To the front is a small garden. The cottage has parking for 2 cars at the end of the lane.

Suffolk has something for everyone, gorgeous countryside, a stunning coastline, amazing wildlife. It is full of historic villages and towns and also caters for foodies, writers, musicians and artists with its many festivals.

Suffolk is also full of many fantastic pubs serving local ales and ciders and serving fabulous food. Nearly all of the pubs I have visited seem to be Dog friendly too!

Our cottage is located in Friston, a small tranquil village with a Pub, ancient church, windmill and a village green. Ideally located in the Suffolk coastal area. A few minutes drive in every direction are some wonderful places to visit and make your holiday memorable, Saxmundham, Aldeburgh, Snape Maltings are all just a few minutes drive away.

Southwold is within a 25 minute drive as is Woodbridge, Rendlesham Forest ,Orford, Dunwich Heath and Minsmere bird reserve.

The old fishing town of Aldeburgh with its beach and fishing boats, cinema, theatre, interesting shops and fabulous choice of restaurants is just a short drive away, as is Snape Maltings which is surrounded by beautiful water ways with interesting gift shops, Antique centre, galleries, and the world famous concert hall.

Dream62061581863 Guilsborough, United Kingdom A delightful holiday cottage. Left on Nov 4, 2019 for a stay in Oct 2019 1 people found this review helpful Little Chequers lived up to our expectations. Friston is a small village but has lots of walks and a good pub right next door! The cottage was lovely, very clean, warm and very attractively decorated. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

5/5 Most enjoyable and comfortable stay This property is absolutely delightful. Lovely little garden. Everywhere was spotless and obviously lovingly furnished. Our second stay and hopefully there will be a third at sometime in the future.

5/5 A delightful weeks holiday The house was delightful. Very well equipped kitchen, good heating and altogether ideal. Just beside is the Old Chequers pub, (run by Andy and Carol who are great fun), where we were made very welcome and excellent food. Went into Aldeburgh twice, watching the crazy "swim" on Boxing Day, visited Southwold (getting even better) and also Snape. Thank Toni for a great week. 12/29/2018 at 1:42 PM

Perfect stay Left on Aug 29, 2018 for a stay in Jul 2018 We booked Little Chequers for a week with an elderly Mum and little dog - we were not disappointed. This prefect tranquil cottage made the perfect get away and Friston is a lovely village, a skip from Aldebugh. The cottage is beautifully decorated and there was nothing missed. The siting room was uber spacious and a lovely conservatory to eat meals in and cottage garden to relax in. There is a pub a few steps , literally , away and this is great for a chat and a drink or a meal. I would not hesitate n going back.

Just lovely! Left on Jul 6, 2018 for a stay in Jun 2018 Having stayed in numerous holiday rentals over the years I can honestly say this is up there with the very best, it may even be the best! The attention to detail is amazing, everything little thing had been thought of. There was milk, tea bags and a tasty box of biscuits waiting for us on arrival. The house itself is spotless and spacious, the garden is quiet, private and very colourful at this time of year. Location wise it is perfect for visiting the little villages and towns like Snape, Saxmundum, Thorpeness and Aldeburgh, we took our bikes and found this a great way of seeing these places. There is a good pub (the old Chequers) about a minute's walk away and various other places all within a few minutes drive. Aldeburgh fish and chips is not to be missed, also a special mention for Friday Street farm shop which is superb. If you are looking for a nice quiet retreat close to all the amenities then this is for you.

“All we required .... and more!” Having struggled to find dog friendly accommodation in the past, this cottage provided all we required for our stay. It was comfortable and homely and had all the little extras that make the difference. Ideally located to give access to a number of seaside locations where we found ideal walks for our golden retriever. In addition, there were many local footpaths for early morning and evening walks.

“Peaceful, smart, convenent and dog friendly.” 5 of 5 starsReviewed August 29, 2014 This was our first trip away with a newly re-homed little dog and it was wonderful to find a house that was extremely dog friendly that made us feel very welcome. The cottage is deceptively spacious and is beautifully appointed with a lovely garden, well equipped kitchen and a conservatory you can eat in or just make the most of the sunshine. It is very convenient for coastal resorts including Aldeburgh and Southwold, Snape Maltings for music and great wallking and beyond to Orford and it's castle and harbour. I would recommend the Golden Key at Snape, just a few minutes away, for good beer and great pub food (and also dog friendly). We had a great time and hope to go again This review is the subjective opinion of a TripAdvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

“Lovely cottage in a perfect location” 5 of 5 starsReviewed May 8, 2014 The cottage itself is well equipped to a high standard and has some lovely personal touches. The living room is very comfy and cosy, and there is a nice conservatory to sit and relax with a good book. It is a great based for exploring this part of Suffolk, with Aldborough , Thorpeness, Rendlesham Forest and the concert halls at Snape Maltings close by. It was nice to be able to stay in such a nice cottage with our dog, and enjoyed some nice walks in the surrounding countryside. We will definitely be booking again later in the year. Highly recommend. This review is the subjective opinion of a TripAdvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
