I can not praise Villa Tranquility enough, it truly is an unbelievable property.

The property is so well equipped, lots of our friends stayed in central Kalkan and complained about not having enough of everything for their party size, this was not a problem at Tranquility. You can see how well loved it is by the owners. Each room is beautiful and the villa manager Rudi is on hand with any problems- not that we had any!

The pool area is downstairs from the main living area so it was perfect when people wanted to chill out a little upstairs. There is a very handy fridge and freezer on the pool level though.

We actually held our wedding at the villa and it made the perfect venue.

John - the owner was so helpful with recommendations both nearby and in Islamar.

The villa is a short drive from the town - about 10/15 mins, the cost of a taxi is around £9 to town.

Thank you John so much for sharing your beautiful property with us, any guests who stay here are very lucky!

When it comes to relaxing in luxury you need look nowhere else.

500m above Kalkan in the traditional village of Islamlar, along a private track, nestled behind a high wall, amongst sprawling tiered gardens and fruit trees, sits Villa Tranquillity. The slice of paradise you've been looking for.

We arrived late at night. So late in fact the Swiss neighbours who generally assist arrivals were tucked up in bed. That wasn't a problem for John, the owner, who had arranged for the key to be left safely elsewhere and for the house to be ready for us. This is testament to his fantastic communication both before, during, and after our stay.

How did we get there from Dalaman you ask? Through a local firm recommended by John himself. Seemless, great service, dropped off at the door. Easy.

We were tired so headed straight to bed. There was plenty choice from the 6 well equipped bedrooms, all en-suite aside from those on the lower ground floor although there is a separate wet room and toilet down there too. That's handy, it's next to the pool.

The next morning we properly have the place the once over. And let me tell you, this place is a palace. A big one. It has everything you could possibly need. The kitchen is fully stocked, it has enough plates, glasses, and other cutlery to serve the Titanic, and the fridge and freezer are big enough for everything you could possibly need. There is also another fridge down next to the pool.

We enjoyed cooking meals inside on an evening as well as eating out locally at Bodamya Tepe (200m up the road) given the service and food was outstanding. The breakfasts there from Hassan and the team are unbelievable, both in taste and value. Much cheaper than down in Kalkan town.

When we weren't cooking we were exploring. I would recommend a car. We had one for 4 days and it gave us the freedom to go everywhere. After that we used taxis, which aren't cheap, so a car is a necessity of you want to see things for yourself and not rely on others. Plus, it's a good 20 minute walk down the hill to the nearest shop and it's a killer coming back up. I preferred to walk up to the village shop, 15 brisk sweaty minutes, take a break and have a cuppa with the locals (5 tl for 2 cups. 25p!!!! Bargain), go to the shop there, and stroll back down.

Aside from the kitchen the villa has it all. 3 twin bedrooms, 2 double bedrooms and a master bedroom. The bedrooms on the second and third floor have balconies and the first.floor, where the living space and kitchen are, have a wrap around one which was beautiful to sit out on a night.

High above Kalkan you have amazing views down the valley and nearby walks to the hill give you a clean view straight down to patara. Breathtaking, it really was.

One of the main draws of the villa is of course the pool area. It's fresh water fed, from the mountains I believe, so it can be a little on the cool side. You get used to that after a couple minutes and given we were there in October, 25 degrees, I imagine in summer when it's 35 plus, it won't be an issue for anyone. Indeed, it will be a blessing.

The pool space is amazing. It's 15m long, it's got all the loungers and umbrellas and tables you could want as well as a second outside dining space (first being the one on the first floor balcony) covered in a pagoda of vines and leaves. It's a real sun trap and so relaxing during the day.

The house is also furnished well, traditionally, with a Turkish, Arabic, Asian feel. A lot of effort has gone into this place and you can tell it's been loved by the owners from day one.

I do not have enough superlatives for Villa Tranquillity. When the wife says she's never seen me so relaxed on a holiday, we must have hot the jackpot. We certainly did with this beautiful, special, place.

Fantastic villa and pool Villa Tranquility is amazing. It is very spacious and wonderfully decorated throughout. There are so many terraces with views to relax on. We were attracted by the size of the magnificent pool, the largest we had found! We loved the privacy, the large grounds, the grapes hanging down from the large pergola shading the huge outdoor eating area. Kalkan is only 10 minutes drive (although a very windy one) so very convenient and easy to reach. We appreciated returning to the villa after an evening out; the air was cooler and less humid in the hills. I could go on and on... John is a great host. He is very helpful and responsive. He provided us with lots of information on local area, amenities, things to do etc. We hope we can return next year!

Villanin manzarasindan esyalarina, konumunun ozelliginden, bahcesine her sey mukemmel otesiydi. Kendinizi gercekten butun sorunlardan uzakta dogayla bas basa hissediyorsunuz. Date of stay: September 2019

A wonderful retreat with spectacular views to the sea Friends & myself have very happy memories of our stay last September. The Villa is beautifully decorated and full of character with spectacular views down to the sea. Laze around Pool side on the many sun loungers provided ,eat alfresco around the large table on the picturesque terrace, prepare local produce in the well equipped kitchen, relax in the open plan lounge, sleep sound on very comfy beds - it has everything you need for a luxury holiday and much more! There are a few local restaurants and convenience shops nearby and a short drive to Kalkan - with many more great restaurants, bars & shops. There’s also many interesting places to visit in the area - wonderful beaches, historical places and other pretty towns .theres plenty to see & do ...... or just relax at Villa Tranquillity a Truly tranquil place! When we arrived we all said “Wow” What a lovely villa and position, it’s very private and not overlooked by other villas unlike all the ones in Kalkan town, also it’s just far enough away from the hustle bustle to be heavenly peaceful by the pool in the day and yet close the enough to go and dine or drink in the evenings. We have rented many villas in various countries but we all agree this is the best by far. The size of the spring fed pool is huge and the furniture is very nice and tasteful, none of the plastic tables and chairs that you get in some rental properties. There is lots to see and do in the area but it is difficult to tear yourself away from the villa. We are planning to go back again very soon and can’t recommend it highly enough. Date of stay July

This property is a real treasure. It is a quiet and beautiful place, inside the mountains, with all facilities. There are so many things to do around (Patara, Kalkan, seaboat, butterfly valley, Saklikent, Kaputas, ...) that it is often difficult to choose between visiting and just relaxing by the swimming pool. There are spacious and luxury rooms, a fully equiped kitchen, a splendid living room...and the table outside where we spent most dinners made us feel like princes ! Not to forget : the 3rd floor offers an incredible vew of the stars by night The onner was extremely kind and helpful with us. He recommanded us lots of places to visit, restaurants, shops, markets, roads from the airport, ... I cant help but recommand this villa !

The villa is beautiful - filled with lovely, local arts and treasures that make it feel both luxurious and homey. The facilities for cooking are good and we appreciated the ability to wash clothes. Guler was quite willing to help us get settled and familiar with the area. The view is breathtaking and the grounds equally lovely. As mentioned by others, the road to Villa Tranquillity is twisty but we made it ok. We recommend getting a car. Restaurants in the area are excellent and there is so much to see and do in the area. And a word about Turkey itself - its a great country. The people are friendly. The food is great, the shopping fun and good and the history and scenery compelling. More Americans should visit and stay at Villa Tranquillity!

Overall: We are back and I must say, THE VILLA WAS ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!!! More than we could ever have imagined... We were wowed, stunned, grateful and pleasantly surprised at every turn. Each day became richer and better. We loved having "our own home" and being able to cook. Villas clearly are the only way to travel. Our 5-star hotel in Istanbul was a huge disappointment after the villa. There is no way we could have known how much we would love villa-style-living and the ability to both be peaceful at home and then forage out to such wonderful sights (ruins at Patara were also amazing) when desired. So, thank you, thank you, thank you. Enjoyed Most: The villa itself is fabulous. Im sure everybody says that. We loved every bit of it, especially the pool, the terraces and the master bedroom and bath upstairs. Someone was kind enough to leave a couple of rafts under the downstairs stairs for our Extreme Pool Pleasure (great move! I hope they remain) and we did much of our dining al fresco under the sun, moon, and shameless swathe of creamy Milky Way which materialized nightly after the Moon had made her pass and just dazzled us to no end. The telescope on the middle terrace is a GREAT ADDITION. Unpleasant Surprises: Nothing! Surrounding Area: We indulged in much star gazing and exploration of the mountain range to the south of the villa where there are ancient terraces which, we learned from Hasan, our most excellent host at the Bodamya Restaurant, the village folks used to take their animals to graze for nourishment and to keep them out of home gardens. Nearby Events or Locales: Saklikent Gorge. Hands down, fabulous. Only about an hour away. Reasonable. Awesome. Challenging. Lovely. And then delicious food and setting after making the trek into the mountains. Tips or Restaurants: Which brings us to the second most fabulous part of the whole thing, aside from the villa itself. The Bodamya Restaurant. Who knew the best food we would have in all of Turkey (including over a week of dining throughout Istanbul) would be within walking distance of the villa? We meandered over to the Bodamya (original name of the village now also known as Islamlar) many mornings and evenings to start and end our days and could not have been happier with the setting (idyllic, shady, breeze, views), service (Hasan was lovely and answered all the questions we accumulated each day about the local region and Turkish life in general, including much education from a villagers point of view about economics, politics, culture) AND food!!!! All fresh, delicious, surprising to the palate and super reasonable. Plus, the joy of meandering back to the villa under the balmy night sky after a delicious dinner and a glass of Raki cannot be beat. The restaurant made the villa seem far less "remote" than it would have otherwise. We were just wowed that it was so wonderful and /right there. David, July, 2009

The villa is in a fantastic location, nice and quiet but with local restaurants and the town of Kalkan on the door step. Its the sort of place where its just nice to get up in the morning and look at the view from the mountains down to the sea. The villa itself is very nicely furnished inside and out and has everything you might need on a holiday, you really feel lucky to be there. There is a lots to do in the area to suit all tastes from nice beaches to ancient sites to adventure tourism. Well hopefully be going back again.
