Overview

VILLA BATI GUL
Villa Bati Gul is ten years old and situated on the east side of Dalyan near the beach road and just a lazy ten minute walk to the centre of Dalyan. It is a comfortable light and airy villa with four bedrooms each with their own balcony. The circular staircase leads up to a spacious loft (bedroom five). Two double sofa beds in the open plan lounge diner make it possible to sleep up to twelve people. Downstairs is the large bathroom with walk in shower. A second smaller bathroom is on the first floor. The Kitchen is compact and well equipped. A large veranda enables you to enjoy the garden and swimming pool view without exposure to direct sunshine, as well as a large table and chairs there is a relaxing area with cotton filled mattresses, making it the perfect spot for an afternoon nap. The recently built fifty sq meter swimming pool is perfect for cooling off on those hot summer days. It is 1.8 meters deep throughout with large round steps leading in from the left hand corner. The garden benefits from mature fruit trees and an attractive weeping willow. There are two adult mountain bikes for your use to pop to the shops and to ride around Dalyan.

DALYAN
Dalyan is a small fishing town on the south-western Mediterranean coast of Turkey. Just twenty five minutes from the Dalaman International Airport. Set in the centre of a broad delta whose natural beauty remains with unspoilt natural beauties. Dalyan is established in an environmentally protected area. This is one of the few surviving places of true paradise, an area of natural beauty and historical interset, as it's pretty close to ancient city of Caunos, so many history lovers from Marmaris, Fethiye and Sarıgerme take a day trip (a guided coach excursion) and visit the ruins of Caunos ancient city for the day, the nearby natural Mud-Baths and then take the boat to Turtle Beach for a nice swim and sunbathing.

IZTUZU BEACH
In 2008, İztuzu Beach (Turtle Beach) was proclaimed the winner in the category for Best Open Space in Europe by The Times, because of the eco-friendly exploitation of the beach. In 2011 Dalyan and İztuzu Beach were proclaimed Best Beach Destination of Europe by Dutch Holiday Assessment website Zoover.
Dalyan being descricbed as "One of the last corners of paradise" and being surrounded by pine-clad hills, pomegrenade fields, orange and tangerine grooves and bulrushes, it really is a beautiful place.

SATURDAY MARKET
Dalyan is a highly fertile and very productive agricultural town. Cotton fields used to be all over the place and were grown intensively in the past, but it has now largely been replaced by pomegranate fields. In Dalyan and around Köyceğiz town there's many other fruits (citrus fruits) and all types of vegetables are grown, which are all on display for sale in the Fresh Fruit and Vegetale Market on Saturdays, the day when villagers come from miles around to sell their products till the sunset. It's so cheap to shop here.

A GREAT FAMILY HOLIDAY IN SOUTHERN TURKEY
The unspoilt Mediterranean village of Dalyan will offer you a fantastic family holiday experience. You can simply stay around the pool, swim and sunbathe during the day and then take a nice walk to center for dinner, where you can choose from the first class bars and restaurants, there's plenty of nice bars and restaurants to choose from. And you could also enjoy few cold drinks and good company in the small and friendly bars on the same street after dinner.

RIVER BOAT JOURNEY IN DALYAN RIVER
Life in Dalyan revolves around the Dalyan River which flows past the town. The river boats that ply up and down the river, navigating the maze of tall reeds, are the preferred means of transport to all the local sites. You'll enjoy the amazing river boat journey, as you take one of the small river boats to İztuzu Beach, (Turtle Beach) through Dalyan River. Dalyan and Turtle Beach are registered as a National Park of Turkey and also a wildlife sanctuary by the wildlife protection association of Turkey. Because of this, the small resort of Dalyan hasn't been grown too big, it is still so nice and so friendly place and it has kept its typical Turkish Mediterranean charm and appeal.

LOGGERHEAD MARINE TURTLES - CARETTA CARETTAS
The beach in Dalyan is well known for the Caretta Carettas (Loggerhead turtles), an endangered species of marine turtles that has existed for about 45 million years. International wildlife protection organizations and Turkish Society For The Protection of Wildlife (DHKD) monitor and protect the marine turtles' nesting grounds in Mediterranean Turkey. Dalyan İztuzu Beach is the second largest turtle nesting ground in Mediterranean coasts.

CAUNOS ANCIENT CITY
Caunos was an important port city, the history of which is supposed to date back 10th century BC. Because of the formation of İztuzu Beach and the silting of the former Dalyan Bay from approx. 200 BC onward, Caunos is now located about 8 kms away from the coast. The city had two ports, the southern port at the southeast of Small Castle and the inner port at its northwest, the present Lake of the Leeches. The southern port was used from the foundation of the city till roughly the end of the Hellenistic era, after which it became inaccessible due to its drying out. The inner or trade port could be closed by chains. The latter was used till the late days of Caunos, but due to the silting of the delta and the ports, Caunos had by then long lost its important function as a trading port. After Caria had been influenced badly by the serious malaria epidemic of the 15th century AD, Caunos was completely abandoned.

Thank you.

Review of Villa Bati Gul

Location

The villa is situated in a great location just a 10–15-minute leisurely walk to Dalyan town center, the walk into the town is not strenuous all flat walking there are a couple of small supermarkets and bars five minutes away. Dalyan itself is a great family resort with lots of bars, restaurants and shops to visit the area feels very safe, and the locals were very welcoming everywhere we went. Dalyan is located on the river with lots of boat trips available and the beach is a river taxi away.

Communication with the Owner

The communication with the owner Sinan was good before our visit although the Airport transfer we arranged with him did not turn up at the pre-arranged time, After getting access to the internet and contacting him, he quickly arranged for a pickup. During our stay we had no contact from Sinal he told us the next-door neighbours would meet us at the villa as they managed the day-to-day maintenance but again after passing the keys to us we did not see them again but they did say if we had any query’s to go to them.
Facilities & Advert Accuracy
The advert's accuracy and facilities are where we felt disappointed, the advert states that there are two bikes available to use, but both had flat tyres and did not look like they had been used in a long time or safe to use, there is no WiFi available at the villa which is a must-have, so we had to purchase two Turkish sim cards at a cost of £30 each as I needed it for work and the Kids cannot do without it!!. The description states that there is a spacious fifth bedroom but this is totally not fit for purpose the heat alone in the loft space would be unbearable, you have to be bent double to move around, there is no storage or air-conditioning and the room had not been prepared for use, it was full of bits of looked like rotten wood flakes from the wood panelling on the roof, this was all over the floor and mattress. The advert states that the Villa can sleep up to 12 people, we were a party of 5 and in my opinion, the most the villa can accommodate would be 8 and that’s pushing it. This is because the ground floor bathroom description is accurate but the first-floor bathroom is a toilet, with a shower on the wall next to the toilet, (as shown in the pictures) in reality when someone takes a shower the toilet and floor become very wet so using the toilet after someone has had a shower means mopping the floor and wiping down the toilet.
In all the other villas we have stayed in and there have been lots, there has always been a mid-stay visit from cleaners to change the bedding and swap towels etc, this did not happen to be fair this was not advertised but we took it for granted there would be a visit however there was enough towels and extra bedding available so I guess I should have asked the question before booking!
The advert also states that the following facilities are available but they are not.
No Dishwasher, Microwave, Ironing board, Glassware (were mostly coloured plastic), there were no plugs in the sinks or tea towels/dishcloths Why?
The remotes for the HiFi, Television, DVD, and TV Box all had no working batteries Why? These are small issues and did not bother us but if you had young children and wanted to use the TV etc. you would have had to go and buy batteries.

Outside

The pictures of the outside are not representative of how the outside is now, the grassy areas have been replaced with small pebbles with scorched grass growing through, making it uncomfortable to walk on with bare feet, the trees and planting have changed significantly, the pictures of the outside need updating, I did my research looking on the Facebook page for the villa and again those pictures are out of date, it’s almost like the villa has had no guests for a number of years, hench no recent reviews.
The pool is great although the guy who came occasionally to maintain it asked if we could keep topping it up with water with a hose pipe as the water level kept dropping, It was not a problem but should this be our responsibility?

Overall

Whilst this review may seem critical, we felt it was only fair to future guests to share our experience of the villa and make them aware of what to expect, we did have a great time at the villa and we could have complained but we were on holiday and just enjoyed our holiday in Dalyan, with a bit of love, money and attention to detail the villa could be so much more. It has so much going for it, location, the pool, the inside is dated but clean and functional it is in very safe peaceful location, the cost to stay here is good so maybe the price reflects what you get, I would recommend this villa but not to anyone who had more than 6 in their party.

My message to Sinal the villa owner is to update your pictures and description of the villa and invest a little money in updating the villa provide the facilities you advertise and get WiFi installed.

Very peaceful and relaxing despite having properties on 2 sides. It is set in a residential area but we barely seen any of the neighbours and when we did they were all very friendly. Villa is a good size for 4-8 people with a good sized pool. The swimming pool is a fairly deep 1.8m, this wasn't a problem for us as our kids are teenagers but if you're travelling with younger children then pack armbands or there's plenty of space in the garden to pop up an inflatable paddling pool. We all loved being at the villa and in Dalyan. It was our third visit to Dalyan so that should speak for itself.

Villa Bati Gul is a lovely private villa set in beautiful mature gardens and although it had neighbours the area was very quiet both during the day and night. Whilst surrounded on 3 sides there is only one area of the outdoors that is slightly overlooked, making it feel very private and secure.
The villa itself was comfortable and had all the usual facilities, my slight concern would be the ability to actually fit 12 people in the villa. Technically you can sleep 12 (the sofas act as double beds) though I suspect it would be rather crowded for space, however if you were using the villa as a base then this could work. With regards to bathroom facilities for full occupancy I think you would struggle.
Dalyan and the surrounding area is beautiful and as the advert states it is a short 10 -15 mins walk from the villa into the centre of Dalyan, where you will find a good choice of bars, restaurants and shops, along with the beautiful river. There are several shops closer to the villa where you can buy basic provisions, along with some restaurants if you don't fancy the walk into town.
We didn't venture into town very often, as we had a small child in our party, however on the occasions that we did I was surprised to also find the town peaceful and relaxing in an evening. No loud clubs, bars blasting out music - we we certainly didn't come across any.
All in all I was very impressed with the villa, from the communication with the owner to the transfers, etc Would definitely consider returning. :-)
A very enjoyable holiday was had by all :-)

My Family included my mother who is 84 down to my grandson at 3 years old .Mark the owner was very helpful and was on call if needed he arranged our transfers with Ibo who also was on call if needed .We arrived on in mid April so the weather was a little un predictable but out of 14 days only one was rained off the temperatures were around the mid 20s not bad for April 2014 .The Villa is in a great location just 10 mins from town or if you use the bikes 5 mins at a slow pace, several mini markets within a couple of minutes . The grounds and pool are looked after every day except Sunday to a high standard we had a lot of use from the pool .Right next door we fell in love with Daisy the cow although the chickens were early risers they were grateful of left overs and we were even given eggs by the owner . Inside the Villa was clean and good condition.

We have stayed in several Dalyan villas and found the Bati Gul very comfortable and clean and within easy reach of the town centre. There is an excellent verandah adjacent to the pool which is perfect for the searing afternoon temperatures. The management team are very friendly and attentive. Only negative is the barbecue is tiny and doesnt look as if it has ever been cleaned.

This was our third visit to Dalyan but our first stay in this Villa. The property is well located for the town (10 mins walk) and on the Dolmus route for the beach. The swimming pool provided hours of entertainment for our children whilst the shaded terrace area was ideal for eating, reading and relaxing. The villa is well equipped with reasonable sized bedrooms, all with plentiful storage space. Should you wish to use it there is DVD player with a wide selec tion of DVDs and childrens films. We would recommend this property for those who want their own space away from apartments, but who like to be well placed to enjoy what the town has to offer.

Just had a fantastic 2 weeks holiday here (31-07-09 to 14-08-09), The villa well exceeded my expectations, It is fully kitted out for everything you need from the Xbox with various games, the full sound system with dvd player and various films, just the simple things made life easier like a huge amount of towels ( leave yours at home ), 2 wet rooms plus much more, all major rooms are air conditioned, outside there is a great pool and is checked nearly every day, the main town centre is about a 5-10 min walk, there is a lot of resturants to chhose from, I would recommend Ramazan Hans for great food, value for money and great staff, nearest store is just a short walk away, the local contact is called Ibo and he was fantastic, from doing all transfers to sorting out some fantastic boat trips. I would recommend this villa very highly. I have just tried to book for 2010 but the dates i need are booked :-( so I will have to wait for 2011.

We stayed as a group of 6 adults and a 2 year old for 2 weeks in July. Villa Bati Gul exceeded all our expectations. The facilities are fantastic, it is immaculate and furnished with everything you could need. Having a dvd player and lots of childrens films to choose from was a godsend in helping to occupy a 2 year old when the heat became too much! Air conditioned rooms ensured a good nights sleep and an escape from the midday sun. The villa is spacious and even though there were 6 adults we never felt like we were on top of each other. The pool and outdoor area was fantastic, kept very clean and we barely had to lift a finger. The barbeque ensured some scrummy meals and we could fully recommend the local butchers for some awesome steaks...we bought 9 sirloin steaks for 46TL and they were fantastic. Dalyan itself is a charming town, much larger than it initially appears. Sadly we didnt have chance to visit all the restaurants but those we did were fantastic. Each caters for every taste, whilst there isnt an awful lot of choice for children all the restaurants will bend over backwards to ensure your children are kept happy and will glady cook a childs portion from the adult menu. Alis restaurant in the centre of Dalyan was particulary accomadating and the food wasnt bad either! There are a large selec tion of bars to choose from but all are devoid of the usual tackiness that you get in a large resort. The Delta Bar is run by 4 young guys who are really friendly and can make a mean cocktail. Overall, can wholeheartedly recommend Villa Bati Gul and Dalyan as a fantastic holiday destination. We had the best time and were so sad to leave that were already planning our next visit.

I stayed in this property with my husband for 10 days and we both found it to be excellent value for money, exceeding all expectations and have already booked again to go next year! The place was immaculate. All the rooms were spacious, simply decorated with air conditioning ensuring a good night's sleep even in the high temperatures. There was plently of clean linen which was collected weekly for washing, lots of coat hangers in the wardrobes (which is of high importance to the ladies), a large shower room, clean fridge, iron and ironing board (another important item) and plenty of clean crockery, utensils etc...Another great item was the dvd player with a choice of films to watch plus a good collection of cd's. Books/magazines and information were abundant on the shelves and these were all most useful to us.The pool was fabulous, clean and private and enjoys sunshine all day. There was also a good connection with a local couple with regards to the pool and the washing of linen. They were were also very helpful with the area and gave recommendations for some great places to eat.The verandah is cool and most welcome at times of the high tempertaures including a very relaxing seat to relax in or to take a siesta! The villa is approx 8-10 mins walk into town which we found to be just the right distance, close but not too close. Some of the neighbours are permanent / Turkish and very friendly which added to the friendly feel of Dalyan. It is very close to small shops for the daily essentials of water/bread etc... The first supermarket is just on the edge of town which again is only an 8 minute stroll away. There are many great places to eat in town and plenty of bars - all the people are very friendly/helpful and certainly give you a warm welcome to their home town.We would certainly recommend Bati Gul and Dalyan without hesitation.
