Tropical Beach House, Hikkaduwa

Beach villa with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and private pool in Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka

From £1,330 per week

The best-located spacious beachfront property rental in Hikkaduwa with a private swimming pool! We can accommodate 8 adults.

Overview

The Tropical Beach House is a spacious, staffed beachfront villa superbly located right on the beach at Thiranagama just south of the centre of the popular Sri Lankan resort of Hikkaduwa, in the middle of one of the most expansive and beautiful beaches in the South West of Sri Lanka. The beach house at Hikkaduwa will provide you with a very comfortable base from where you can enjoy everything that the area has to offer, such as surfing, diving, nature watching or just basking on the beach in Sri Lankan sunshine!

Watch the last of the sun dip down into the Indian Ocean, whilst having a fresh seafood BBQ prepared for your group. Maybe you'll be lucky enough to see the local fishermen hauling in a big catch! Later on, perhaps take a stroll along the beach and sample some Hikkaduwa nightlife. Enjoy all the advantages that come with renting your own private beachfront holiday villa and take everything else at your own pace.

As I hope the image tour conveys, all the bedrooms and outdoor living areas are very spacious and the views from the holiday villa of the beach and Indian Ocean at the bottom of the garden are simply gorgeous!

Although the Tropical Beach House, Hikkaduwa is offered on self-catering terms, it is a staffed property (with housekeeping, night security and pool cleaning staff). Meals can easily be prepared for you to eat at the house for a small preparation fee. Local sightseeing trips can be arranged locally, at your request.

The Tropical Beach House can accommodate a party of up to 8 adults in 3 bedrooms. We provide bed linen, towels and clean every day and change towels and linen every 3 days. We can also supply 2 cots, as well, if necessary. Wifi internet access is available throughout the beach house complex.

The whole upper floor of the Tropical Beach House is a self-contained studio apartment featuring beautiful direct ocean views through wide sliding glass doors, which lead out onto a large shaded balcony. It can accommodate 4 people and comes complete with air-conditioning, a ceiling fan, a fully-equipped kitchen, dining table, a king-size 4-poster bed, 2 single beds and an en-suite bathroom with hot-water shower.

The ground floor of the Tropical Beach House has 2 air-conditioned en-suite ocean-facing bedrooms with ceiling fans - one king-size double and one with twin beds - and a fully-appointed kitchen. In front of the beach house is a private beachfront garden with a large swimming pool (10m x 5m) and a very spacious shaded veranda, which is ideal for dining and relaxing with drinks whilst watching the kids splash around in the pool.

NOTE: The Tropical Beach House is rented as a complete complex. I do not offer individual room rates.

It's all been said before, but,
From the second I initially contacted Gavin to the very end of our stay (over Christmas & New Year), the whole experience could not have been better. The ease of booking, the transport arrangements (getting from the airport to Hikkaduha), to enjoying the famous BBQ's and lovely Sri Lankan curries cooked by the house staff, it was all fantastic.

Mahinda was terrific in organising any tours or transport we wanted, even a last minute whale watching on a private boat (yes, you pay more, but 5 of us were on a boat and not with 80 others). The pool was a great place to come back to after a long drive and a leisurely walk along the beach to any of the (many) restaurants was always a pleasure (much better to walk back after the meal to let the food go down). If you didn't feel like walking, there were always 2 Tuk Tuk's out the front waiting to take you anywhere.

We are an 'Aussie' family and travelled as a family of 5 and our only regret was that we should've booked a few extra days.

Thanks again Gavin (& Mahinda and staff). We will be back!

So glad to hear how much you enjoyed your stay, Peter and got a real appreciation of the fantastic beach and surroundings. You will, of course, be welcome back anytime! :-)

We stayed at the tropical beach house in January and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The staff were friendly and courteous and on call for when you need them. Gavin responds to communications quickly and effectively and is only too happy to provide useful information.

The house itself is located at the quieter end of the beach which for us was perfect, there are restaurants and cafes within walking distance but if you want to go the main part of town then its a 200 rupees tuktuk trip into town (oneway).

The beach outside the house is wide, clean and beautiful and there are no hawkers, the sea is suitable for paddling but there are warnings about swimming on that part of the beach even though we did on certain days when the waves were not too big.
The pool is a great alternative and is kept clean by the pool guy who visits in the morning. We had many fun days lazing by the pool and playing games with the family.

The rooms are comfortable and clean and well equipped with ensuite and a kitchen in each area. My husband and I had the top floor in the main house which in my opinion was the best room in the house, the views are spectacular and the sound of the waves gently take you into a peaceful sleep at night time. All the family said how comfortable the beds were in each of their rooms.

We had a seafood BBQ one night which included fish, chicken, prawns, salad and rice. They even made us delicious spicy sauces which we requested and everyone commented as to how well cooked and delicious the food was.

I would thoroughly recommend this house for family or large groups of friends. I would go back again tomorrow if I could!

Traumurlaub!!!

Dear Gavin, We had a great time in your fantastic beach house. The location was perfect and I do hope to stay again at some point in the future. In terms of help Mahinda (house manager) was outstanding and we used his driver colleague Janaka a few times. Having been to similar places like Sri Lanka it didn't take long to make a load of local contacts/drivers etc. My tip to others coming to Sri Lanka would be to get an Etisalat SIM!

once again thank you and I will be in touch should we wish to book again!

Kind regards,

Simon Johnson

We stayed at this property with our 4 young children, and it was the perfect location on a quiet stretch of the beach. It is not safe to swim in the ocean, so the small pool was a great touch that we all loved. The kids spent hours alternating between the beach and the pool, enjoying every minute of it. The staff was unobtrusive, yet friendly and as helpful as needed. The hotel next door was also very convenient as their restaurant/waitstaff was happy to deliver meals right to the house and then would come back later to pick up the dirty dishes. We did all stay in the bottom portion of the house as the bottom and top floors are separate and our children are so young, but we knew that when booking. This house would be perfect for extended families, couples, or friends traveling together who also wanted some personal space, or families with older children that didn't mind the separation. In all, we had a wonderful stay and would recommend!

My time at 'The Beach House' has been totally relaxing and excellent fun. The house was a comfortable and welcoming place to stay and the Hikkaduwa area was beautiful and interesting, from the wide palm-lined beach to the stunning paddy fields and lush greenery just a short distance away. It's hard to pick a highlight of my stay because every moment of it was great! Catherine Moore, UK

Our two week stay at your beautiful beach house was heavenly. We couldn't have wanted for anything more perfect. Chintika and Mahinda were both very kind - as was our driver Lal - and they all made sure we had all we needed. Thank you. We can't wait to come back - Sri Lanka is a great country.Sally Emery, UAE

My parents and I had the most incredible time in the Tropical Beach House. With its perfect location we spent many hours listening and watching the waves at the bottom of the garden. We can't wait to return one day very soon. Gavin and Mahinda, thank you for an unforgettable time.Stephanie Kite, UK

I just wanted to send you a quick note to thank you for the fabulous time spent at your pad in Hikkaduwa. It is paradise! Can't imagine a nicer way to spend a birthday.Sam Meston, Dubai

I am (unfortunately) back in the cold and miserable U.K. again. I would like to say how much I enjoyed the week at the Tropical Beach House - it was perfect in every way and I hope to return again.Peter Corbett, UK

Good time had by all in Sri Lanka, hope we can do it again sometime soon.John Stanley, New Delhi

Many thanks again for sharing your lovely home with Jim and me. We both hope that we will be able to visit again in the near future.Michael Wakelin, UK

We had a great time and really enjoyed our two weeks. The house itself is lovely (the photos don't do it justice!) and was kept very clean by the friendly staff who were always happy to help. Really recommend having a beachfront BBQ and if you're doing a tour - see World's End!Joanna James and Edward Brown, UK

We had planned to visit Sri Lanka for some time, but the tsunami obviously made us think again. Reassurances from Gavin were enough and we definitely made the right choice. Gavin and team have done wonders in getting the Beach House cleaned up, and now it is as good as new. The beach in front of the house has been completely cleaned and the sea temperature is wonderfully warm. Most of the restaurants and tourist activities had just started up at the beginning of February, and we felt priviledged to be amongst some of the first post-tsunami customers for some of the tours.Hire a scooty-pep whilst you're in and around Hikkaduwa, and make sure you see the rest of the island. We did a six day tour through the hill country, with Lal as our driver, stopping off in Ella, Kandy and Sigiriya. The country is stunning. We had a magical time and very much look forward to a return visit.Simon & Peggy, UK (Post-Tsunami)

Thanks for a fabulous post-tsunami holiday. Everything was fabulous. The guest house is delightful, a really tranquil spot and so well-catered for. Top delights included the canoeing on the lagoon, the veggie restaurant opposite and zooming (well almost) around on the scooter amongst all the local farmers. Thanks for a top time, a genuine welcome, and an inspirational holiday / adventure, amongst a bunch of people that desperately need we tourist types to return. We'll be back!Ian & Jane Baldwin, UK (Post-Tsunami)

I first came to Sri Lanka in September 2000 and was instantly charmed by the people, their culture and the fantastically beautiful natural landscape. I used to split my time between Sri Lanka and UK but now just visit Sri Lanka when I can.
