We're also leaving our house empty for longer periods between guests and are offering a self check-in facility to reduce contact.

Cuesta Vinas is a small hamlet famed for its naturally carbonated spring water. Situated just 2 km out of the village of Valor, (a gentle 30 minute stroll), this casita is perched on the hillside overlooking the hamlet and offers peace and tranquillity without being remote.

Within the 4000 square meters of land you will find a newly planted orchard, 4m diameter plunge pool, sun terrace, gardens and a shaded outdoor dining area, all with fantastic views down the valley to the sierras of Gador and the Contraviersa. A second casita, Casa Verde Ref 155386, is also available for rent but both are totally private from each other and both have there own pools, gardens and terraces.

Enjoy the flowers and butterflies which abound and t he local birds nest around the house which swoop over the terrace in the early morning and evening, occasionally taking a diversion through the house itself!

The pool is filtered and contains a minimum of chlorine, so you can find yourself sharing with the occasional friendly frog!

The property
The spacious casita is open-plan, divided into a well equipped dining kitchen, sitting area with an antique wood burning stove and fabulous views down the valley, and a comfortable bedroom area which can be curtained off for privacy if you so wish.

The house is surrounded by extensive terraces with both sunny and shaded areas. The shaded, outdoor dining space is accessed from the kitchen by french windows and seats 4 in comfort. It is equipped with both a BBQ and a wood fired earth oven and pots of fresh herbs are available for your use. The sunny front terrace has sunbeds in addition to a further table and seating for 4 whilst to the rear is an outdoor solar heated shower.

The house is traditionally built with shutters which keep the space cool during July and August whilst ensuring a cosy space during the colder months of winter. The kitchen area is fully equipped with 4 ring gas hob, gas fridge with icebox and sink. There is ample crockery, glassware, cutlery etc. and you will always find the basic kitchen ingredients , such as oil, vinegar and a selection of herbs and spices, in addition to your welcome pack. A large dining table provides seating for up to 3 people and French windows open onto the outdoor dining area. The living area is focused around the old wood burner with comfortable seating for 4 and contains a selection of books and games for evening entertainment. The Area

The Moorish village of Valor perches on the foothills of the Sierra Nevada gazing out over the valley and the market town of Ugijar. An unspoilt traditional Spanish village popular with Spanish tourists. Situated two hours from Granada and one hour from the coast, culture, countryside, beaches and skiing are all within easy reach.

With a population of just under 1000, the village has 9 bars all of which serve tapas and a couple of which offer a full menu. There are also 2 small supermarkets, one with its own bakery, which sell all essential shopping items including fresh meat, fruit and veg. There is also a pharmacy, bank and gift shop selling local cheeses and pottery. The travelling market visits on the 4th and 19th of every month with a few stalls selling clothing, plants, nuts & olives etc. For a wider range of shops and a bustling twice monthly market, the town of Ugijar is just 10 kilometers away. The village pool is open during the months of July and August and there are numerous fiestas throughout the year, the largest of these being Moors and Christians in September when the villagers re-enact the taking of the Alhambra complete with horses and musket fire.

Just a 45 minute walk in the opposite direction will take you to the equally charming village of Yegen. With its olde worlde feel you can almost imagine you’ve stepped back into the last century.

You are surrounded by magnificent views of the Sierra Nevada and Contraviersa mountain ranges with numerous opportunities for walking and mountain biking on your doorstep. For the more adventurous, Mulhacen is close at hand.

Popular with Spanish tourists but as yet relatively undiscovered by other nationalities, Valor is an extremely friendly pueblo blanco and an ideal place to observe and enjoy the traditional Spanish way of life.

This place is unbelievably good. I came for a week in March with my 6 month old baby and had a blissful time. Morning feeds on the terrace looking out over the mountains were really memorable. In late March everything is a luscious green and covered in blossom. There's everything you need in the cottage and the woodburner is easy to use and cosy at night. I had wondered if it might feel a bit scary being alone there at night as it's a fair way out of the village, but there are 3 other houses within 100 metres so it's not scary at all. It's the best of both worlds, because although there are neighbours it still feels really private and remote due to the way the houses are positioned. Ginny was a lovely host, providing a cot and high chair for the baby and not complaining when I turned up several hours late (bear in mind that Clickstay's suggested route from Malaga, where you come off the motorway at Motril and drive along the mountain roads, is absolutely beautiful but takes a long time as the roads are very windy). Walking down the hill to collect fizzy spring water from the spring was a highlight. I'll definitely be coming back here if I can.

Hi Rosie, it would be lovely to see you and your amazingly chilled baby again. We'll look forward to it!

Ginny and Terry were the perfect hosts.Availble very quicly when needed, friendly and helpful leaving you undisturbed if that is what you prefer.
A beautiful peaceful location with only a 20 min stroll into the village if you wish to eat out or need basic supplies.
The Finca was laid out perfectly for a couple with all that you would need for a relaxing holiday with stunning mountain views that we never tired of taking in.
One of our best self catering holidays and will definitely be back in the future.

The first thing to hit you about this place, other than the fantastically steep approach to the house, is the incredible views from the front of the property. The photos do NOT do this property justice and we never tired of staring out over the mountains, the view is amazing! The second thing that made our holiday was Lotte and Josh, Ginny & Terrys two wonderful dogs, they were a bonus addition to our trip, being dog lovers and kept us company throughout most of the week, although never entering the property unless invited. Ginny & Terry were the perfect hosts and made us feel very welcome whilst at the same time giving us complete privacy. The pool, was a short walk from the property, and was a very welcome place to cool off from the summer sun. The local villages are a short and easy drive away, with our favourite being Ugijar, which we returned to for fresh supplies of meat, cheese, bread and cheap vino. The butchers counter in Komo Komo was very very good indeed, we would recommend the Chorizo!. Ginny recommended a drive through the villages, taking in Portugos, Trevelez and Pampaneira, which we did, it was a fantastic day out with a very entertaining drive on the mountain roads. We would recommend the shopping in Pampaneira which also has a great bakery. The only downside to our trip was that it was only for one week, not two!! Thank you again G&T!

What can I say about just how idyllic this place is without sounding
over the top? The photos, lovely as they are, dont actually do justice
to the reality. We wanted an away from it all holiday, comfort, able to
look after ourselves, but with the luxury of wifi so we could keep in
touch (and gloat) to friends worldwide, totally private pool, top end
patio and terrace furniture and bbq.The views from the terrace patio
are wonderful, the layout and set up of the villa was totally to my
taste, and my husband was mesmerised by the wood burning stove as the evenings got a little chillier. He is now a complete expert in building
and maintaining wood fires. Handy skill to have back in the UK and
smokeless zone Sunderland...The location is exactly what you want if
your preference is for beautiful scenery, little rustic villages and
towns, local tapas bars and restaurants. On our last evening we drove a few kilometres to a local restaurant/hotel and had a fabulour meal with wine, beers, wonderful service, for less than £40. On another night our villa owners Ginny and Terry treated us to a goat curry which even beat my sister-in-laws. Sorry Amanda. All in all this is the perfect
location for anyone who wants to get out of the rat race for a weekend
or a month, savour rural Spain, and feel luxuriously pampered in a
green environment. Solar panels, a natural spring dating from Roman
times at the end of the track, (choice of four waters but Id avoid the
iron one) friendly people, cheery dogs Lottie and Josh making you feel
wanted. We were a little bit scared by the steep driveway on the day we arrived - by the second day we were tackling it with no problems and a definite joi de vivre in our rented Fiat 500. If a car that small can
make it, it shouldnt have been any surprise that the log wagon managed it no problem. Ill recommend this to lots of friends - had a
marvellous break.

Truly fantastic in every way, quite simply outstanding location, very peacefull yet not too remote. Ginny & Terry were the perfect hosts very friendly in every way. The prices are very reasonable indeed for such a brilliant property, it exceded all my expectations.
I booked this as a special holiday with a difference for our ruby wedding anniversary and do not for one moment think I could have done any better thing.
The views are stunning during the daytime ant the stars at night WOW.
The village is quaint with good bars and food available, also many other beautifull villages close by.
I will return without a doubt.
Thanks Ginny & Terry for all your hard work creating this little paradise.

We spend a very relaxing week in this lovely cottage with a stunning view over the mountains. We very much enjoyed the garden with all the vegetables and the almond trees. The village (Válor) is within walking distance and we had some nice tapas there. The cottage had everything we needed. The owners are very friendly and helpfull. Make sure you have a car with enough power to get up the steep hill towards the property. We didnt and had some good work-outs climbing up -)

A holiday never to forget.

This was my first visit to Cuesta Vinas and it exceeded all expectations. Not only is the cottage extremely well kitted out - with a generous open-plan design - but with two patios with views to the surrounding mountains and your own swimming pool, it is an amazing place to relax and soak up the peace and quiet. It is probably one of the quietest places I have slept in a long time. The cottage is not overlooked and in a beautiful location. I was most reluctant to leave! It is, however, also well suited for visiting many of the villages in the Alpujarras. I felt it was great value for money, and a very comfortable and tranquil place. I would recommend anyone to go and intend on returning as soon as I can.

Extra information

There is also an earth oven outside the house which we have been told makes "the best pizzas outside of Italy" by an Italian! There is a speaker system in the house suitable for playing music through your ipod or laptop. We do not recommend drinking the tap water although it is fine when boiled, but there is a naturally carbonated spring located just 5 minutes walk from the house where you can replenish the provided containers. Please be aware that this house is located in mountainous countryside making it unsuitable for anyone with limited mobility.
