Overview
CORTIJO CUEVAS DEL MARQUES
This large, lovingly restored, traditional country house and swimming pool, set in its own grounds offers 5 double bedrooms and is built around a courtyard. It is just a short drive from the bustling town of Ronda.
Offering plenty of space, indoors as well as outdoors where you can choose from several shaded or sunny outside spaces.
The cortijo offers stunning views over the valley towards the remains of the old Roman summer town of Acinipo.
Situated well away from main roads, Cortijo Cuevas del Marques was a working farm until recently and its land is still cultivated. On arrival one enters a different world through the avenue of almond trees (blossom-time March) and the impressive gateway into the enclosed courtyard from which the main house and guest cottage is accessed.
From the entrance hall you continue through to the spacious living room which has large sofas and a wood burning stove. Both the large salon and the smaller one have their own TVs.
The living room has double doors opening on to the sunny back terrace and swimming pool.
From the hall there is also access to the large well-equipped kitchen with breakfast area, the separate dining room and the 4 large double bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms
The separate guest cottage offers an open plan living area with wood burning stove and an upstairs double bedroom
The whole property has central heating, ideal for use all year round. At 800m altitude and with high ceilings, the house usually stays cool even in summer.
It has satellite TV and wireless internet and an electronic piano; and ping-pong table.
The beautifully landscaped gardens, which includes a formal garden and pergola, around the house has ancient olive trees and many typical Mediterranean shrubs and fragrant herbs like rosemary and lavender.
There are many loving sitting and lounging areas an also outside dining areas with superb views
The attractive swimming pool with a view of the Roman amphitheatre is surrounded by spacious terraces with lots of terracotta pots.
Besides the monumental town of Ronda there are many nearby tourist sites such Setinel, Acinipo and the sierras de Grazalema and Ronda.
There are great walks from the cortijo and also the opportunity for horse riding and cycling.
