There is a living room, with well equipped kitchen, spacious double bedroom and shower room. The landscaping in restful and relaxing and there is a communal swimming pool ( May to October) to cool down on those hot sunny days. If you are looking for solace and tranquility and an unforgettable experience of Spanish mountain hospitality, from the delightful and charming villagers, then please come and visit us at Casita Musica
Casita Musica is within easy walking distance of the charming and delightful Andalucian village of Lubrin in the province of Almeria. The village is very Spanish and nestles high in the Sierra Los Filabres some 2000feet above the well known beach resorts of Mojacar and Garrucha which are just 45 minutes away.
Lubrin is a small village of about 500 of the nicest people you are ever likely to meet. There are a number of Cafe/Bars that offer Tapas. Meson Molinos is a restaurant offering fine wines and a mouthwatering menu. Bar Lopez is located in Rambla Aljibe, which is one of the dozen or so hamlets in the Parish of Lubrin, where you can get a good wholesome 3 course Menu del Dias including wine for about 12 Euros
There are 3 Banks and the village shops include 2 Supermarkets, 3 Butchers, 3 Bakers (no Candlestick Makers!!) and an Ironmongers. You can buy anything from a pin to a Porsche( well not quite a Porsche). Market day is on a Wednesday when you can stock up with fresh fruit and vegetables on most days the fresh fish van comes up from the coast.
Life in Lubrin is a time warp and will remind us more senior citizens of an early childhood where family groups sit out on the streets on hot summer nights with children playing until the sun sets over the hill.
Where to go and what to do!
Lubrin is located about 1 hour cross country from Almeria Airport or 2 hours motorway/cross country from Alicante or Murcia Airports. The village is very Spanish and nestles high in the Sierra Los Filabres some 2000feet above the well known beach resorts of Mojacar and Garrucha which are just 45 minutes away.
The more Spanish resorts of San Juan Torres and Aquilas (to the North) and Carboneras, Agua Marga and San Jose ( to the South) are about an hour away. These Spanish resorts, in Summer, are very much less crowded, especially mid-week, than Mojacar and Garrucha.
Places of Interest include Cuevas de Almanzora for its cave houses and Tabernas for its magnificent Desert National Park. At Tabernas is a Westen Theme park on the site of the Clint Eastwood Movies!
The Cabo de Gata National Park is one of the most beautiful and ecologically rich coastal strips in the western Mediterranean and is the first Natural land and sea park in Andalucia. The drive takes just over an hour and the route down the mountain, via Nijar, is very dramatic. The park offers walks on marked trails and tracks amongst native scrub and grasses, amidst the scent of wild lemon balm and the distinctive aromas of curry plant and herbs. You are able to follow inland trails and coastline.
The ancient Andalusian city of Almeria(1 hour away)lies sheltered at the base of a bay, proudly dominated by the amazing Alcazaba, a huge Moorish citadel with three walled enclosures dating from 995. From the citadel visitors have a good view of the city’s most impressive and important Christian monument, the Cathedral, dating from 1524, designed more like a fortress than a church because of the need to defend it from pirate attacks. The Cathedral contains numerous art treasures, including a tabernacle dating from the 18th century, designed by Ventura Rodriguez. With its interesting medieval architecture, Almeria’s old town is a delight to stroll through with its tranquil squares, archways and colonnades. The city also has a fascinating archaeological museum and unique cave dwellings in the hillside above the old gypsy quarter.
The Alhambra in Granada is a very popular place to visit by our guests. It takes just 2 hours to drive to Granada along the Almeria to Sevilla motorway with stunning views. The motorway skirts around Granada and the Alhambra car park is easily accessed. There is a shuttle bus that takes you from the Alhambra direct to the Plaza de Nueva where it’s a short walk to the Cathedral and Royal Chapel.

We had an excellent stay, John and Moira couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. John gave us good advice re buses from the airport to lubrin and back. The walking was outstanding made easy with John’s route cards. The pool was fantastic and always kept meticulously clean. The village, which was only a five minute stroll away, gave us a great oportunity to immerse ourselves in a traditional Spanish culture. We had a fantastic time.

Lovely quiet area... very peacefull holiday... Lubrin village has a fantastic spanish atmosphere and the three tapas bars are a must...Easy to get to coast over the mountain roads... Cooking fish from local shop on bbq is something I'll never forget...John the host was always available on WhatsApp but left us alone to enjoy the tranquillity..

Wonderful setting, perfect for the relaxing holiday we were seeking, complemented by stunning walks from the door, kind and welcoming host, simple but excellent facilities in Lubrin. We'll definitely return.

We enjoyed our stay. The owners were very friendly and helpful; the property was well equipped, with a great location (in countryside, but within short walking distance of Lubrin) and had two outdoor seating areas.
The owner arranged the hire of mountain bikes, which were of excellent quality and made travelling on the local tracks fun. The owner supplied route maps, which helped with the planning of routes. However, we did need to use Googlemaps to sort out navigation difficulties.
We really enjoyed the Festival of Bread which falls on 20th January in Lubrin. We found Lubrin to be friendly, pretty, Spanish speaking (very few people speak English) and cheap to eat out in.
The mountain biking, scenery, almond blossom and the bird song and variety of bird species were our highlights.

Our stay at Casita Musica was excellent.
The owner, John, had given very clear directions in advance.
Paul and Sarah, who manage the property, were extremely helpful, kind, and great company. They keep the place beautifully.
This is a great 'away from it all' retreat. You could here a pin drop across the valley in the early morning. Beautiful views, lovely walks and a couple of good bars in the village.
Mojacar is a good spot to visit, as are other towns and villages in the area.
A car is essential.
My only suggestion would be investing in some better mattresses and kitchen utensils, but not a problem.
Very good value for money and a memorable trip.
Highly recommend

John
The accommodation is basic but has all the necessary equipment. It can be difficult to find and the drive up to and down from the location is not for the faint hearted. It is located at the edge of the town on a hill walking in to Lubrin is along an uneven track for the first few minutes, once the village is reached there are steep hills both up and down.

In 1998 my wife and I visited Almeria to look for a more permanent home for retirement but away from the mass tourism. We stumbled on Lubrin and within the first hour, as we sat in Bar Molino with our wine and tapas variadas, we knew that we had found our Spanish pueblo. After lunch we walked through the narrow streets and observed the children playing “shop” with their cardboard counters and toys they no longer needed. Groups of neighbours were sitting outside the houses talking and fanning themselves to keep cool. It was evident that the family unit was strong and this fact is very important to the reproduction and maintenance of social order. We bought an old cortijo on a 1hectare finca within a 5 minute walk of the centre of Lubrin. For the next 6 years we rehabilitated the building and converted the terraces into a series of terraced gardens with Almond, Olive and Pomegranate trees set in lawns with borders of Oleander and Grapevines. The old well near the Rambla was dry but we obtained permission to sink a borehole which now irrigates the gardens and fills the plunge pool converted from the original water deposit. Make enquiry
