Overview

Peace & tranquility guaranteed, finca accommodation with swimming pool and just a 5 mins' stroll to an authentic Spanish Village with Tapas Bars and large outside dining terraces.

“Basic rustic property in beautiful peaceful surroundings. We enjoyed exploring the area and loved the ease of access to Lubrin for evening food and drinks in friendly bars. Great atmosphere on market day also”.

“Quiet and remote location with lovely views over the surrounding mountains. Accommodation is very private and has pretty much everything you need. Hosts were lovely! If you want to unwind and relax away from the crowds, then this is definitely the place.”

“Beautiful cortijo set just outside the town of lubrin.when we arrived we thought it was in the middle of nowhere, but the town is a 5 minute walk alomg a good track.”

“We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday here. It was very quiet and peaceful. The owners were so helpful and accommodating everything was just so easy. The nearby village was lovely and the people were very welcoming.”

The accommodation is located on a 2 acre finca on the edge of the authentic Spanish village of Lubrin, Almeria in Andalucia. The province of Almeria has the warmest and driest winter in Western Europe. Lubrin pueblo is a typical Andalucian village tucked away some 2000ft in the Sierra de Los Filabres and just 45 minutes inland from Mojacar on the Costa del Almeria.. It’s charm lies in its narrow streets, its white village houses adorned with bright geraniums and bougainvillea, and its endless sunshine. Not forgetting the charming villagers of Lubrin that provide for all the basic holiday necessities and includes 2 Supermarkets, 2 Bakers, 2 Butchers, Bank with ATM machine, Post Office, 3 Restaurants and numerous Tapas Bars where you can get a Menu del Dias for just €10 including wine.

The accommodation is ideally located to provide peace and tranquility yet within walking distance of the village. The finca occupies a hilltop and is surrounded by landscaped lawns and Olive, Almond and Pomegranate trees. The self catering apartments and cottage are full of character yet spacious and with modern amenities. There is a fully equipped kitchen and outside has the benefit of very private terraces to greet the morning sun with a cup of tea or coffee and toast the last rays with a glass of wine.

The landscaping in restful and relaxing and there is a swimming pool ( May to October) to coolyou down on those hot sunny days. The mountain views are truly panoramic and on a clear day include the Mediterranean sea. Pick a shady spot to read a book, sip a glass of wine or take in the views. If you are looking for solace and tranquility and an unforgettable experience of Spanish mountain hospitality, from the delightful and charming villagers, then please come and visit us. If you feel a bit more energetic there is moderate self guided walking and mountain cycling straight out of the main entrance into the surrounding foothills.

Pedro su mujer y sus dos hijas fueron muy amables y respetuosos durante toda su estancia. Nos quedamos con muy buen recuerdo de ésta familia tan auténtica y cálida. Fue un placer tenerlos alojados aquí.

Review submitted by Alice from Edinburgh (Submitted: Mon, 26 Sep 2011 "We had one of our happiest holidays here! The setting of Casita Musica is even lovelier than the photos, lovely terraces, fabulous pool, and great views. We were delighted to receive such a generous welcome pack on our arrival, and a warm welcome from our hosts. Like other visitors have said, it was a very relaxing place to be, sitting aside surely one of the most picturesque villages in Spain, the lovely, and very friendly Lubrin. Lubrin has all you need with really good local shops and very reasonable places to eat, and a great local market for bargains on a Wednesday! The area has other great places to visit within the hour, the beautiful coastline, and villages with other great places to eat. It was a Spanish Idyll and we would love to come back and stay again."

Review submitted by Zib from Krakow, Poland (Submitted: Sun, 28 Aug 2011) "Imagine a perfect holiday setting - as quiet and secluded as it gets, free from mass-tourism traps, the landscape unspoiled by towering hotels (in fact there are hardly any hotels around) and only the owls calling to be the sounds of your night-time entertainment. And that spectacular moon rise over impressive rock right across the valley. Immerse into unhasty routines of the villagers, join the locals over delicious tapas in mere two or three bars or a sole restaurant, still with quality and pricing to surprise many seasoned travellers. Or browse delicacies at the fruit-veggies-meat-cheese-or-what-have-you market every Wednesday. Cortijo Fuente Arriba. Fully furnished apartment (actually three - we stayed in Castillico) in a carefully restored Spanish farmhouse, including your private veranda to sip your malaga wine in the evening, or do your grill, or go lazy on comfortable sun beds after refreshing plunge into the central pool (held impeccably clean). Or write your poems under the shade of roofed open get-together space. Cannot live without your web link? WiFi connection is there. Or pick one of the provided beach umbrellas and lilo and drive up to one of the many lovely beaches nearby. Paradise found. Unpretentious and very comfortable and simply so pleasurable to stay at. I do not know much about feng-shui, but whatever it postulates to make you feel good must have found its right realization at that place! All that topped with unparalleled hospitality of the host-owner John and his friends - Jane and Russ. Need an advice or forgot your road atlas or anything - your hosts are quick to help you out! Oh, forgot to mention three other important residents - Meg, Floyd and Sam: two very friendly dogs and a cat. Do not get mislead by website introduction of Fuente Arriba - the reality surpasses all expectations! Needless to say we find the value for money simply stunning... Get away from your daily rats-race and reset your mind. If there were anything like "Slow-Travel" Id vote this place to top the list. And trust me - I have see quite a few... PS. By the way John has spilled a word to us about his ambitious extension plans, including flamenco classes, guided mountain hiking, horse riding and Spanish courses. Summer or winter - your perfect choice for perfect holidays."

Review submitted by robert from Ashton in Makerfield (Submitted: Sun, 25 Sep 2011) "We really enjoyed our stay it was so peaceful and relaxing. The weather was great , we only had one overcast day during our 7 day stay in mid September the rest of the time the temperature was 25C+. Jane and Russell who were looking after the property couldnt have been more helpful and their two dogs Meg and especially Floyd were great fun. On arrival we were made to feel very welcome and were greeted with a nice bottleof wine and a few esssential groceries. Throughout our stay Jane and Russell were always very attentive to our needs and made our stay a memorable one. The views from our apartment were fantastic and the town of Lubrin just 5 minuites walk away was very quaint. The coastal area which is around 50 minuites away was in most cases quiet and unspolt especialy around the Cabo De Gata area. We would reccomend this holiday for all those looking to recharge thier batteries.

Review submitted by John & Sheila from Glasgow (Submitted: Sat, 12 May 2012) "We thoroughly enjoyed our weeks stay at Casita Musica at the beginning of May 2012. We received a warm welcome from John & Mair. Arriving on a Sunday, with supermarkets closed, the generous welcome pack of wine/cold meat/cheeses, etc was very much appreciated. The location had memorable views and was within easy walking distance of Lubrin village. The information packs for the self-guided walks provided by John & Mair were very informative. We completed 4 of the 5 suggested walks taking in the local surroundings. The local bars and restaurants provided us with excellent food and value for money - we particularly enjoyed La Cueva and El Molino."

Review submitted by Moira from Glasgow (Submitted: Tue, 15 May 2012) Absolutely perfect for getting away from it all. We stayed late April/early May and had a wonderful time. We booked the apartment as part of a walking holiday. The walking guides were very easy to follow and gave a good selec tion of relatively easy short walks. The local village was nearby and the people were very friendly and welcoming. Eating out was a joy with a good variety of tapas and daily menus all very reasonably priced. Our hosts were extremely welcoming and happy to answer any queries we had. We would definately recommend to friends and hope to return ourselves. "

In 1998 my wife and I visited Almeria to look for a more permanent home for retirement but away from the mass tourism. We stumbled on Lubrin and within the first hour, as we sat in Bar Molino with our wine and tapas variadas, we knew that we had found our Spanish pueblo. After lunch we walked through the narrow streets and observed the children playing “shop” with their cardboard counters and toys they no longer needed. Groups of neighbours were sitting outside the houses talking and fanning themselves to keep cool. It was evident that the family unit was strong and this fact is very important to the reproduction and maintenance of social order. We bought an old cortijo on a 1hectare finca within a 5 minute walk of the centre of Lubrin. For the next 6 years we rehabilitated the building and converted the terraces into a series of terraced gardens with Almond, Olive and Pomegranate trees set in lawns with borders of Oleander and Grapevines. The old well near the Rambla was dry but we obtained permission to sink a borehole which now irrigates the gardens and fills the plunge pool converted from the original water deposit.
