Villa Quisqueya combines a quiet location overlooking melon fields with all the facilities and security of a well-managed gated development. A peaceful home with access to 22 pools and golf course.

Overview

This 2 bed, 2 bath detached villa was built in 2007 on the 5 star La Torre golf resort. In addition to a terrace and a large rooftop solarium to maximise time in the sun, the villa has a secluded rear lawn that is totally fenced or hedged in to ensure children remain secure. Premium outside furniture including sun loungers and a table and chairs is provided at both patio and roof solarium level. New for 2024 is a 2-burner gas BBQ.

Inside Villa Quisqueya, all the accommodation (bar the roof top solarium, of course) is provided at ground floor level to the benefit of families and those with limited mobility. The main bedroom has a king bed (which can be de-coupled into 2 single beds) with fitted wardrobes and a large silent high capacity ceiling fan, plus en-suite shower room (shower, wc, basin/vanity, bidet and heated towel rail).

The second bedroom is a twin room, again with fitted wardrobes and a large silent high capacity ceiling fan. The large family bathroom is right next door, with a shower over the bath, shower screen, wc, bidet, storage unit and heated towel rail.

(Note: Bedding is provided for all options: 4 single beds, 2 King sized beds or a combination of the two)

In the lounge you will find a double height room providing impressive space whilst high quality furnishings include a large L-shaped leather sofa, an armchair, coffee table and reading lamps. A 32'' LCD 'Smart' TV with cable service provides >30 English language channels and a large selection of other language channels. A DVD player and a CD player are also provided. The oak dining table has an extending leaf and can comfortably seat 4 or 6.

High speed wi-fi is provided in the villa free of charge.

Air conditioning is fitted the lounge/dining area whilst central heating is provided for the cooler months of the year.

The kitchen is fully equipped with oven, hob, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave, toaster and a wide range of good quality crockery, cutlery, glasses, pots and pans. We stay at the villa out of season ourselves and have added the additional equipment needed to vacation very comfortably in the villa. You should find lots of extras that are often missing from self-catering accommodation. You'll also find a cool bag, a beach mat and folding chairs for your day at the beach.

Next to the kitchen is the utility room containing the washing machine, iron, ironing board and clothes airer.

Please note that bath towels, hand towels, tea towels and bed linen are provided. We do ask that you bring your own swimming towels for use outside please.

The closest of the resort's 14 main pools is only 5 minutes gentle walk away and its low traffic private roads are ideal for families, cyclists or the elderly, as is the flat location and the secure gated access to the development. For shoppers, 3 major complexes are within 30 minutes of the villa by car, as are the historic city centres of both Cartagena and Murcia for those wanting to see the Spain beyond the beaches, mountains and golf courses.

The villa is located in one of the sunniest and driest parts of Spain, virtually guaranteeing warmth and sunshine almost all year round. With Mar Menor and the Mediterranean less than 20 minutes drive away, the villa has the best of both worlds - a peaceful and quiet location combined with access to all the Costa Calida and the 3000 hours of sunshine it provides each year.

There is parking for 1 vehicle in the integral carport at the front of property, whilst additional parking is available in the parking area 20m from the front door.

A local English-speaking property manager is also available at the end of the phone to help you have a worry-free stay.

Let's now talk about the 5* La Torre Golf Resort in which Villa Quisqueya is located:

Golf - The 18 hole golf course with par 68 has the following specifications:
• 5,354 metres of golf trail
• 3 lakes.
• Natural surroundings in harmony with the area.
• Driving range & Putting green.
• Club, Pro-shop.
• Golf School.

Tennis - There are two tennis and padel ball courts on the resort. There is a booking system in place but there is no fee for renters of Villa Quisqueya.

There are 14 large communal pools on La Torre (with accompanying children's pools). The nearest is less than a 3 minute walk away.

In the town centre, a 15 minute walk from the villa, you will find 2 bars as well as 2 restaurants (an Indian that is open all year round and an Italian restaurant that is open during the summer months) plus an Irish Pub & the Golf Clubhouse (bar and a pro golf shop). The town centre is also where the resort supermarket is located and this has a very wide range of goods at very reasonable prices and all of a two week stay's shop could be easily done here. In addition to the usual range of food, the supermarket sells freshly baked bread, croissants and pain-au-chocolat every day - but you have to be quick as they often sell out by mid-morning!

The resort is beautifully landscaped and dotted around the resort are children's play areas. It is extremely secure, with a perimeter wall, manned access and regular security patrols.

Activities available in the surrounding area include diving courses, boat trips on the Mar Menor, yacht charters, windsurfing, jet skiing, canoeing, orienteering, sailing tuition, hiking, sightseeing trips, deep sea fishing, mountain biking, horse riding, rock climbing.

The area surrounding La Torre

Murcia
The regional capital - Murcia City - is known as the “Baroque Capital of Spain” for its wealth of fine buildings. It has many up market shops and department stores. There is a magnificent Cathedral, a beautiful monastery, gardens and parks. The region also boats rugged mountains, rolling green fields, golden sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. Murcia enjoys an annual average temperature of 20 degrees C and nearly 3000 hours of sunshine. Within easy driving distance (20-30 minutes) are the waters of the Mediterranean Sea and the Mar Menor, a great salt-water sea lagoon, with its salt marshes, ecosystems, islands and unique flora and fauna. The Costa Cálida (literally 'the warm coast') is the name given to the 155 miles of coast in the Murcia region, which stretches from the natural salt lagoon of the Mar Menor in the east to the fishing town of Águilas in the west. The two seas offer sparkling clear waters, luxuriously long and sandy beaches, and enchanting little bays. With a variety of Blue Flag beaches to choose from on the Costa Cálida, starting just 20 minutes from our villa, you and your family can easily find a day on the

The Mar Menor Area
This area is known as the market garden of Spain. It is predominantly flat, like a bowl flanked by the mountains of the Sierra de Carrascoy (a protected regional park) and the Calblanque regional park and open to the Mar Menor and Mediterranean sea to the West. At the north end of the Mar Menor is the Salinas regional Park which is a wildlife refuge.

Cartagena
The second city of Murcia, Cartagena, is a port city and has been a port since pre-Roman times. The front is a broad promenade with restaurants and bars overlooking the marina and port. There is a good shopping area here and it starts in the Calle Mayor, a pedestrianised street adjacent to the palace near the front. There are Roman remains scattered through the city including a Roman amphitheatre. Several festivals are held here during the year. The most notable of these is a Roman vs Carthaginian fiesta which re-enacts of the battles that took place here in years gone by.

We stayed at the property for a week during June 2019. The property is beautiful and has everything you would need and more - home from home. The property is located on a huge resort along with a golf course and the resort has many amenities including restaurants, bars and a well stocked supermarket. We based ourselves here to enable us to do some travelling around the area, the property and the resort are well placed for accessing the towns and the lovely Mar Menor around 15 - 20 minutes drive. Definitely recommend this Villa well worth the visit.

Idyllic get away from the english weather. Extremely comfortable home from home stay in the middle of winter. Beautiful villa with absolutely everything you need. Only issue on the area and no reflection on the villa was that we choose to stay in January when La Torres and the surrounding areas are mainly closed so there was limited choice of restaurants within a safe driving distance. The upside was that we found ourselves in a very Spanish world, trying Spanish restaurants and Tapas bars where we learnt Spanish and the local dishes very quickly. The surrounding area and cities are a must to visit. Absolutely fantastic stay. I would say that a car is a necessity but the roads are easy once you have learnt the geography, Murcia, Cartenga and the Mar Menor coast are must see places and surprisingly easy to drive around once you have your bearings. The owner and property manger bend over backwards to help you.

we have just returned from this villa, the 4 stars for the area and facilities refer to the complex not the Villa, the villa would be 5 stars. The villa is comfortable with good quality furnishings, very comfy beds and good quality bedding and towels ( I am particular about towels!) we had everything we needed and more. We found that the property had been cleaned to a high standard, this the cleanest villa we have rented. We had no problems with the free car, we did get an upgrade to a corsa and we took the extra insurance. The resort was very quiet but we were out of season so perhaps more is open in season, the Alhambra palace offers a pick up and return service food is good and reasonably priced they also do take aways, the only disappointment was the hotel was closed so we could not use the spa facilities, this did not spoil our holiday but would have enhanced it. one last note the owners were contactable and always helpful, I would highly recommend this property.

A lovely villa, which is as it is described in the advert and shown in the pictures. Communication with the owner before and during stay was excellent. The villa has all the facilities required for an enjoyable holiday.
