Village house with 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and private pool in Cozvijar, Spain
From £666 per week
Architect renovated house in village 20 min. S of Granada. Secluded patio, private pool and roof terrace. 4 bedrooms. Views of the Sierra Nevada. The Alhambra 25 minutes away. Unspoilt village.
Overview
Cozvijar is a quiet village in the Lecrin Valley south of Granada. The locals are mostly farmers tending their plots of olive trees, orange and lemon trees and grapes. Many households produce their own wine – Mosto – that is available from December onwards. The nearby village of Conchar holds a Mosto Festival each New Years day serving Mosto and barbecued meats and sausages in the village square.
Granada offers Tapas bars, shopping, the Alhambra, the Albaicin, the cave houses of Sacromente, a bustling nightlife and is only 20 minutes via the easily accessible motorway. The same motorway south allows easy access to the coast - the Costa Tropical - through the stunning scenery of the gorge of the Guadalfeo River as well as access to the Alpujarras – the southern facing slopes of the Sierra Nevada range. A car is essential. For summer driving it must have air-conditioning and must have enough power to get you up some very steep inclines if you want to explore the Sierra Nevada.
Casa Lucia - our house in Spain
Casa Lucia is our house in Spain. We find it very hard to come home even after the shortest stay. The village is tranquil and the snails pace of life is catching. The house is very peaceful and relaxing. Before we renovated the house it was a ruin. We have rented villas in France and Spain for many years so we incorporated all the best features of our past experience to ensure that being on holiday was as comfortable and easy as it could be. The shaded external dining area in the patio is close to the kitchen making alfresco dining simple and hassle free. At night the pool and patio lighting create a superb atmosphere for eating out under the starlit sky.
Cozvijar Fiesta – the population of the village swells in the first week of August for the Annual Fiesta. It is impossible to describe the experience of the Fiesta other than to say that anyone staying for Fiesta week has to enjoy partying and needs to have enough stamina to be able to survive with little sleep for 5 days!
In the village there are 2 bread shops (1 does wonderful pastries), 2 supermercados (not supermarkets but sell everything self service shops) that sell all foods including fresh meat, vegetable, cheese, jamon etc, a fish shop, an iron mongers, a pharmacy, a bank (but no cash machine!), a phone box and 2 bars that do wonderful tapas (free with each drink). White vans crawl through the narrow streets blowing their horns to announce the fruit, vegetables, fish or fresh milk from the churn that they have for sale. All of these are 5 minutes walk from the house.
The house is cool in the summer by traditional Moorish air conditioning supplemented by ceiling fans.
What to do in Andalucia
The pool, the patio and the shade area allow those who wish to chill out. For the more energetic hill walking, bird watching, sailing, horse riding, mountain biking, skiing (November till April), paragliding are just some of the outdoor activities available either from the village or within 30-45 minutes. Granada is only 20 minutes away and offers the Alhambra and other fantastic architectural or historic sites. At night Granada buzzes with life and is great to walk through to enjoy the people, the atmosphere and the tapas bars. Part of the enjoyment of holidays is exploring and discovering new things. Every time we stay in Casa Lucia with discover something new in Cozvijar, Granada or elsewhere in Andalucia. Part of the enjoyment of a holiday is stumbling across the unexpected (last summer I found waterfalls and caves full of stalactites). This description is therefore more of a taster than a comprehensive description of all that is available. Explore and be prepared to be amazed and delighted.

We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Lucia, the property is very well appointed and decorated. It provided a perfect base for Granada and the Alhambra, and the surrounding areas eg Alpujarra.
The outdoor pool area in the evening provides a lovely setting to enjoy a drink or meal.
I would thoroughly recommend this property.

The property was excellent, the pool was fantastic. Very private and self contained. The locals were very friendly, as previously mentioned a working knowledge of Spanish is useful however we managed to muddle through with atrocious accents a phrase book and plenty of smiling from all involved. Our thanks to Jackie and Simon for making us feel so welcome and for all their help. We left after the first night of fiesta and would have loved to have seen the whole weekend of it. Maybe another year. We had a brilliant holiday either relaxing by the pool or on day trips out exploring the surrounding area. Many thanks :)

"The property is very nice indeed. Its actually both nicer and larger than it appears in the photos on the website. It is very well equipped indeed with good quality items and the owner has added many personal touches which means that its more like staying in someones home than a holiday villa. I must say the owner is very trusting to leave so many personal items there. We have a villa in Florida and had many personal items stolen, but perhaps thats a cultural difference between European and US guests? The underfloor heating makes the house very warm and cosy even when its not so warm outside. We did had a problem with the boiler but Martin the local agent came promptly and reset it with the button and then it was fine. The pool is beautiful but it was too cold to use in October. The property also has a Sky DigiBox so we were able to get UK TV channels which is really nice. My 5-year old son summed it up best when he said "The only thing wrong with this house is that it doesnt have the internet". (He was missing cbbc.co.uk and lego.com!) But we did experience a lot of noise from the building site next door. Every weekday morning at 8am prompt the drilling and hammering started. Ive never known a building that required so much drilling and hammering! Perhaps they built it wrong and now need to fix it? And the building site is attached (terraced) to the house so it does go through the house. But we cant complain, the owner did warn us about that. The only other issue is the parking there. The streets are very narrow and you can get blocked in, especially with the road closed to cars past the building site next door. One other thing: The directions say leave the motorway at junction 152. Its 153 actually. And the directions to the property currently dont really work in that the road is closed due to the building site next door. You need to go around the block to get to the property. Not a problem, but it caused us a bit of hassle trying to find it at 11pm and finding that the directions are no longer valid (with the road closed). But it only cost us an extra 15 mins of driving around the village. Really, the village is slow small that it only takes 15 mins to drive around all of it! One more tip for other visitors: Orgiva is lovely, Lanjarron is horrible! And Pampaneira and Capileira are lovely too, but take a little while to get to. "

This property is definatly for lovers of real spain.
Is set in a lovely village with friendly locals and surrounded by intersting towns and wonderful scenery.
The villa its self was large and airy and even though the temperature 35c - 40c inside was lovely and cool.
Its a real home from home everything you need and much more.

Great villa!

Villa Azure is a fantastic place to stay, I can thoroughly recommend it. It's in a perfect position, just 5-10 minutes walk from the centre and harbour for all the departing boat trips.
It's peaceful and quiet in the evening, with the bars and restaurants just out of earshot.
The setting is beautiful, with the mountain back drop and lemon groves.
The facilities are fantastic with a pool which is cleaned daily, 4 en suite bedrooms all with air con, and all mod cons like washing machine, dishwasher, tv etc.
The owners were extremely helpful in offering advice and suggesting excursions and restaurants, and were a pleasure to deal with.
We were a family of 4 adults and 3 children and had a great time, but this would be perfect for just adults too. Thanks, Keith.

Extra information
Rear tiled patio is walled and totally private. It contains a private pool, sunbathing area, shade area and outside dining area. Roof terrace has views over the Sierra Nevada, Sierra de Albunelas and the valley up to Granada. A seating area is the perfect place to watch the sunset highlighting the mountains. The single bedroom has bunk beds suitable for 2 children or 1 adult. The pool is not heated so is normally available May-September (the water is warm in the summer months but cold in May and September). The pool is unfenced so the house is not suitable for groups with toddlers or other young children. In the winter months the underfloor central heating can be suplemented by a wood burning stove. Wood be bought from the BP petrol station in Durcal. This is not a holiday villa, it is a carefully designed renovation producing a peaceful elegant space in which to relax and enjoy a holiday with minimum effort. It is built for 2 families but not for the very young nor anyone with
