The properties are situated approx 25-30 minutes drive from Faro airport.

Located in the heart of the village of Conceiçao which adjoins the popular resort Cabanas de Tavira. The villas are within walking distance of Benamour golf course and local amenities including restaurants, cafés, a mini market and chemist. The resort and sea front at Cabanas is just 2kms away, and the historical town of Tavira is ten minutes drive.

Many local attractions in Tavira time including historical and recreational know as the most picturesque place in Portugal.Tavira is one of the most attractive towns in the Algarve and its origin dates back to around 2.000 BC. During the occupation of the Algarve by the Moors this town was considered of great importance due to its fishing industry. Dom Paio Peres Correia took it from the Moors in anger in 1242 after seven of his principal Knights were killed during a period of truce. In the 17th Century the port was of considerable importance, shipping produce such as salt, dried fish and wine. Like most of the Algarve its buildings were all virtually destroyed by the earthquake of 1755.

Cabanas is a former fishing village, about 7Km from the city to the East side. It holds a little more than 1000 permanent residents, and its beautiful and clean beaches turn it into a popular tourist destination in the summer. This parish was established as such in 1997.

The village structure is composed by a long line of low-rise houses, shops, bars and restaurants facing the Ria Formosa Nature Park.It is a 10 minute walk from the villa complex.

The history of Cabanas goes back to the year of 1734, at the same time the tuna fish fishing activity started, originating a need for the creation of cabans (yes cabanas is the Portuguese word for cabans) to store all the fishing tools and the growth of the community. For more than 20 years these were just seasonal residence, and only around 1757-58 some fisherman decided to build their houses permanently.

This parish still lives mainly from fishing, contributing to the enrichment of the local gastronomy with products like tuna fish, razor clams, etc. Although the strong connection and dependence from fishing, Cabanas also depends very much from tourism, being the most visited parish along the year. The first accomodation facilities - Pedras da Rainha - built around 1973, generated a high number of work opportunities for residents. From there the dedication to tourism has been clear, revealing a promising future.

Nowadays Cabanas offers to everyone a rich cultural heritage, from its fauna and flora, to the diversity of accomodation and gastronomy.

There are a good selection of bars and restaurants in the village - enjoy local fish specialities and wine at very cheap prices! Everything is within walking distance - supermarket, bars, good selection of restaurants and the beach. Cabanas beach can be reached by a 2 min boat ride and has 3km of golden sands

Beaches are plentiful and the famous Tavira Island is a must see place situated on the edge of the Ria Formosa

Excellent villa, very clean and very well equipped we wanted for nothing, would definitely go back. Communication with the owner was excellent, Janette was very approachable, friendly and responded very quickly. Our first time to this area, loved it and will definitely be back.

A beautiful villa with everything you could need provided. We stayed as a group of 6 ( 3 couples) and it was perfect as each bedroom has its own ensuite. Lots of space inside and outside the villa so we never felt on top of each other. The villa was spotless on arrival and extremely comfortable. There are a couple of small bars nearby but the main town is about a 20 minute walk. Janette the owner of the villa has been fantastic, she even booked a lovely restaurant for us which was great. The only slight downside is the noise you get from the road, we did not notice it at all at night it was just during the day whilst sitting by the pool. Highly recommended and we will definitely be returning.

We stayed at Villa Belar from 4th to 14th June for my husband&rsquos 40th birthday. From the initial enquiry to the final confirmation Janette has been so helpful. Janette suggested I might try the cake shop round the corner (as it was my husband&rsquos birthday) and provided full details for me, how thoughtful. I collected the on 5th June. Absolutely brilliant what a lovely thought and a great touch to add to the special occasion (thanks Janette). The villa itself sits in Concei&ccedil&atildeo about 1km from the centre of Cabanas which is a lovely area. It only takes approx. 10 mins to walk down to the front and is a nice walk at night when the heat dro ps a little! We had a late flight night in and Janette was so accommodating. We were met at the villa by Martin and Filoca, who couldn&rsquot have been more helpful, they showed us round and explained where everything was. It was absolutely spotless, had everything you could ever need and I thought the baskets in the bathrooms containing left over sun cream, shampoo etc. from other parties was such a great idea and a lovely touch. We saw both Martin and Filoca a few times throughout our stay and they both came to say goodbye on the day we left (then preceded to clean the villa for 8 hours in the heat!) &ndash we know this as we spent the day round the pool before leaving for our flight. They are both a credit in the cleanliness and success of the villa. The outside area is also an absolute treat, nice gardens and pretty climbing flowers, not forgetting the swallows which was very soothing to watch. One other villa was occupied at the time however there was plenty of areas for everyone to put beds etc. The beach of Ilha de Cabanas is just a short boat trip across the waters of the lagoon and there are several water taxis along the front running frequent crossings to the ilha! This is a must for any visitor to Cabanas as the beach and facilities over there are out of this world along with the little caf&eacutes on your return trip who offer a cooling drink and some nice tapas! My husband and brother-in-law booked golf prior to flying out with justteetimes.com and played 4 rounds in total (two at Benamor, one at Quinta de Cima and the final one at Quinta da Ria) they thoroughly enjoyed all 3 courses (I&rsquom sure they would have fitted a few more in!) We ate out a few times during our stay and must say that the food at the Hairy Lemon is totally amazing, the fish is succulent and cooked to perfection, the steak on hot stone is huge, the beer goes down well and the prices are very reasonable (win win!). We had one overcast day (lucky us) so we made use of the car we hired and we headed out towards Vila Real de Santo Antonio and dro pped in at Manta Rota and Monte Gordo on the way. The Eastern Algarve as a whole is a lovely area thus warranting us returning to the area for the 4th time. Overall I cannot fault anything with the villa, it is beautiful and Janette should be very proud. We would highly recommend the property and will definitely be re-booking. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home. From Lisa and Andy and Louise and Paul

We stayed for a week in June. The villa really exceeded what we were expecting. Its really very nice, much more so than the photos suggest. The owners have provided pretty much everything you could need. We were met at the villa by Martin who was really helpful.

We had the pool to ourselves which was great but I think there would be plenty of space with the neighbouring villas occupied.

The location is quite close to a main road but plenty of trees mean you are not overlooked. The local area is very quiet and not at all touristy but Tavira is a few minutes drive away. Vila Real de Santo Antonio and the Spanish border are 30 minutes away.

Overall a lovely villa and great place to stay!

My wife and I joined our son and his wife who were staying for two weeks 11th -25 Sept 2012. We could not believe it, what a fantastic villa. It has everything you could possibly want. From the moment you step in the door you feel at home. The villa is in excellent condition and is fitted with all mod cons. The local area is so peaceful and the beaches are superb. We tended to drive out to the beach at Santa Luzia just the other side of Tavira and although it was a few miles journey the beach was well worth it. Tavira is also such a lovely town. The prices of food and drink in the local shops and restaurants is relatively cheap. We could not fault the villa or the location and do hope we can get the chance to get back again hopefully for 2 weeks next time.

Mary & Baz Liverpool Our weeks stay 11-18 September 2010 Review Submitted: September 21, 2010 Date of Stay: September 2010 Had a wonderful stay at this beautiful villa. It is beautifully decorated and furnished, and well equipped. The owners have catered for your every need, there is even shampoos, sun cream, insect repellant!! There are several lovely beaches close by, we like the Tavira island beach the best, but the other beaches are good. Lots of good restaurants in Cabanas and Tavira, and very reasonable prices. The weather was brilliant, we were able to sit out on the patio until 11.30 at night. There are just 4 villas on this complex, and they share a pool and jacuzzi. Only 2 villas were occupied when we were there, so had the pool to ourselves, but would have plenty of room if other villas were occupied. This was an excellent holiday, and we would give it 10 out of 10. The owners are also friendly and helpful, and very easy to deal with, and gave us lots of information about the area, which was really helpful. Enjoyed this holiday so much, we have already booked another week for next year. Cant wait to go back. Recommended for: Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children Owners Response: Thank you for the review so glad you enjoyed the villa and looking forward to seeing you next year!!!!!

October holiday Review Submitted: October 28, 2010 Date of Stay: October 2010 Just returned from a fabulous week at the villa. It is a really luxurious place and has been furnished to a very high standard, it was spotless on arrival and had a few essentials ready to use in the fridge which was very welcome (and we did replace the beer ! ) The area was very quiet as it was low season, but as there were only four units in our area even if all were fully occupied there would be plenty of space for everyone. Lots of lovely beaches nearby with a good variety of restaurants in the local town of Tavira. Would recommend a stay here as we would certainly like to return. Thanks Ian and Jeanette for a fab week ! Recommended for: Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

About the best you can get! Review Submitted: December 27, 2010 Date of Stay: November 2010 Absolutely superb and a gem of a find. The property is absolutley immaculate - but the real gem of the find where the owners who went absolutely over and above to ensure our stay was perfect - thank you Janette. Loads of helpful hints, a stocked kitchen with a replace as you use attitude - wonderful. We loved every minute. Local tips - very little to do near the villa but an easy taxi to Tavira (12 minutes). Good shops locally - certainly enough to stock up. Recommended for: Age 55+

Kay Liverpool FANTASTIC HOLIDAY - JUNE 2010 Review Submitted: May 7, 2011 Date of Stay: June 2010 This property lives up to the photos, it is tastefully decorated with every home comfort. It is very spacious with three very good sized bedrooms all with en suite facilities. Janette and Ian have really tried to think of every conceivable thing you need for a fabulous holiday. Towels, toiletries, cleaning items, fridge and freezer items are all free to use, just replace what you take!! The kitchen has just about everything you could possibly want and you can eat on the lovely terrace or in the elegant dining room. The outside terrace has a comfortable seating area with a large table and chairs, even candles are provided for those romantic evenings. The pool area is large with immaculate gardens. When we visited we had the place to ourselves but even if the other three homes where in use there is plenty of room. I would recommend a car as there are many lovely places to visit within a short drive. The nearest golf course is about two minutes from the villa.VisitingTavira is a must, and you can go out to the island with fabulous beaches by water taxi from Tavira town or by ferry. There are loads of places to eat with all price ranges covered. We had a lovely holiday and would have no hesitation recommending this villa. Recommended for: Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Families with Young Children Owners Response: thank you glad you liked the villa

Fantastic accommodation Review Submitted: May 9, 2011 Date of Stay: April 2011 Stayed for a week during the 3rd week of April 2011. When we arrived our teenage daughter, who takes some pleasing and wouldnt normally rate anything better than okay, said it was perfect and she wouldnt change anything. It really is that nice. Weather was quite unsettled during our stay but even when it was raining it was not cold and it was nice to sit out on the downstairs patio area which was covered If it was sunny the upstairs balcony got the sun from about 1.30 pm. There were 4 sunbeds provided, in addition to those on the patio/balcony, which can be used around the pool area which got the sun from around 9 am. There was supermarket and newsagents within a short walking distance and whilst there were also a few bars these were really local places and not really touristy so really need to head into Cabanas or Tavira so a hire car was advantagous. Highly recommended. Recommended for: Age 55+, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway Owners Response: thank you for review glad you enjoyed your stay

Great place to stay Review Submitted: June 21, 2011 Date of Stay: June 2011 My daugther and I decided to do a last minute holiday to somewhere we hadnt been before and picked a real winner with this villa. It was great to arrive to a well stocked fridge and I loved the idea of replacing what you used rather than having to throw food away at the end of your holiday. The villa and pool are lovely, nicer than home was my daughters view! Tavira and Cabanas are lovely places to visit and I would recommend a car although the train station is within easy walking distance of the villa. Recommended for: Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children Owners Response: Thank you Jane glad you had a good time

Beautiful - first-class luxury Review Submitted: June 30, 2011 Date of Stay: June 2011 Luxurious and offers superb value! A stunning villa that is comfortable and very well-appointed. We were met on arrival by Mandy and shown everything that was needed for a relaxing break. Plenty of wine, water and beer were provided (just replace before departure for the next guests) and the ice machine and private pool saw plenty of use in the exceptionally hot weather. The villa was spotless and fully air-conditioned, and offered safe parking in a nicely seclude and maintained location. Conceicao village and bars/shops/restaurants are nearby - only a short walk. Cabanas (beaches/restaurants) and Tavira (shopping) are further but taxis and buses/rail are available if do not want to use a car. Travel to/from Faro airport is easy. The details are spot-on and we were impressed with the location and layout of the villa - the gardens and pool/jacuzzi areas are first-class. The reception and customer service were superb. Gets our top recommendation (and its deserved!). Cannot be faulted. Thank you!! abulous place! Review Submitted: August 17, 2011 Date of Stay: July 2011 Wonderful owners! From the moment we sent her the first email enquiring about the villa, until we got back home, Janette went over and above to make sure that our stay was perfect, We stayed there for two weeks in July. We were two couples with two children and the villa was spacious enough to accommodate the six of us, without feeling too crowded. We had a wonderful time. The villa is much nicer than in the photos. It is nicely decorated, the bedrooms are good size all with en suites, plenty of closet space, the kitchen is well equipped and has everything you could possible need. The outdoor space is lovely: nice patios (downstairs and upstairs) with comfortable seating, the gardens and the pool are 5 stars. The location of the villa is very convenient. There is a super-market, pharmacy, bar, post-office, within the walking distance. The little village of Cabanas and the beach at Ilha de Cabanas are within 5 minutes driving distance, plenty of souvenirs shops and restaurants to choose from. We loved Copa Cabana: best sangria and tasty bruschettas. We felt in love with Tavira, which is a lovely town within 10-15 minutes driving distance. From there you can get on the beach (Ilha de Tavira) by ferry or water taxi. We usually spent the afternoon at the beach and have dinner in the old town – plenty of restaurants along the river and between the narrow streets. Manta Rota is another beach recommended by Janette and our girls decided that it was their favorite beach. We agreed, not only because of the donuts :), but also because it’s within 15 minutes driving, lots of parking available, large beach, clear and warm waters. There are also a lot of historic places in the area, for those interested in. We made few daily trips to Vilamoura, Albufeira, Portimao, Lagos and towards east – Monte Gordo and Villa Real SA. Lagos is a nice town, the old town, the marina and a trip on the fisherman boat through the caves (Ponte Piedado) are a must for all visitors to Algarve. Albufeira and Villa Real are also pretty towns that kept some of the old Portuguese style. Overall, for those who are into nightlife and resort style holiday, Tavira may not be the perfect option. But for those who want to experience the real Portuguese life style and enjoy some authentic food, we highly recommend the villa and Tavira surroundings.

Beautiful Villa in Eastern Algrave Review Submitted: August 23, 2011 Date of Stay: July 2011 This is an exceptionally comfortable and beautifully appointed villa, in the little village of Cabanas, about 15 minutes from Tavira. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to relax, enjoy some of the finest beaches in Europe and experience some of the best the Algarve has to offer. Janette’s villa is spacious and very well designed. Our group consisted of two couples and two children, and each of the three bedrooms was large and had its own ensuite bathroom (only negative was a very small shower in the third bedroom – make sure the adults get the bigger bathrooms!) The kitchen was fabulous – high end appliances, everything you could possibly need and plenty of space to move about in. Two lovely patios meant we could sit and eat out of doors and the children, in particular, loved the beautiful swimming pool. The villa is situated very close to Tavira, a wonderful, quiet, old town in the Eastern Algarve but if you are seeking more excitement, the popular tourist resorts of Albufeira, Lagos and Villamora are all within easy driving distance. It is close to a main road – this is something you should be aware of, if you are very noise-sensitive (although you can only hear the traffic if you are outdoors - inside, the villa is beautifully cool and quiet.) The road quietens down considerably in the evenings and as we were out and about most of the day, it didn’t bother us. The owner, Janette, was tremendously helpful. Her recommendations for local beaches were superb, equally appealing to adults and children and we loved them all. Her directions to the Villa were spot-on and her attention to detail was evident in the way she handled our booking from the outset and in all the little “extras” that were provided to make our stay extra special. We had a fantastic holiday here and were all very sad to leave.

Perfect Holiday Home Review Submitted: November 23, 2011 Date of Stay: October 2011 Belar is ideally situated for the East of the Algarve, Tavira, Faro, but is still only 40 mins drive to the west resorts of albefuera etc. The Villa is very well appointed and maintained. The owners are very helpful and the local manager was well placed to sort out any questions you had. The location is quiet, although the main road is only a few yards away this was not an issue. The pool area is very well maintained and as the villa is part of only a 4 unit complex, was never crowded. I would recommed this villa to anyone looking for an alternative to the west coast resorts. As we went in October, the nearby villages and towns were quieter than in high summer but there was still plenty of choice in restuarants and bars. A twenty minute drive takes you up into the hills to explore other villages and restaurants and you are only 20 minutes from the Spanish border too. I would definitely book again.
