Beautiful house for summer holiday rental situated in Azenhas do Mar, 2 minutes by foot from Azenhas do Mar beach and 10 minutes from Praia das Maçãs beach. (AL Local Lodging License 35335)
This romantic house has a very nice garden with a private swimming pool (10m x 4,20m) and an excellent view to the sea.
It has 3 bedrooms, all of them with doors to the private garden, view towards the sea, 2 bathrooms, one with shower and one with jacuzzi.
It has a full equipped kitchen and a living and dinning room with fireplace and a lovely view to the swimming pool and to the sea. Earlier morning there are fishing boats 500 m in front of the house and you can also heard birds and watch the lovely gulls flying above the sea.
The house is almost new as well as everything inside her because she was reconstructed.
It is located in a very important and historical place as it was in the ancient century the summer resort of the Portuguese kings.
Location
“Quinta do Mar” is located in Azenhas do Mar-Colares, 10 km from SINTRA, world heritage site declared by UNESCO. “Azenhas do Mar” is a small village hanging on the vertical cliffs over the sea formed by little white-washed houses, trimmed in blue, that seem to cling to the rocks over the sea, ending in a very small beach with a natural swimming pool. With a strong fishing traditions, Azenhas do Mar is a popular place both in Summer and Winter, due to the beautiful view it offers. There, you can admire the Atlantic Ocean in all its splendor and watch fishing trawlers sailing. It is 1,5 km far from Praia das Maçãs, where you can go by foot along the cliffs. There you will find restaurants where you can taste the very appreciated Portuguese gastronomy (fish and seafood), one of the best in the world, cafes, bars, discotheques as well as shops selling local crafts and a swimming-pool with sea water.
Local activities: diving, surfing, swimming, tennis, bodyboard and others.
Surroundings
1,5 Km from Praia das Maçãs, 5 Km from Colares, a demarcated wine-growing region, famous for its excellent wine, which can be tasted in “Adega Regional de Colares”. Near several others white sandy beaches like Adraga (3 Km), considered in 2003 the most beautiful beach in Europe, Praia Grande (2 Km), Aguda (1,5 Km), Magoito (4 Km) and Praia da Ursa, a naturist beach near Cabo da Roca, 4 km of distance, the westernmost point on the European continent, defined by the poet Camões as “where the land ends and the sea begins”. In 15 km far you can find Guincho/Cascais where the world championship of windsurf is held and famous for the kyte surf. Sintra, world heritage site declared by UNESCO, is 10 Km far from and has historic monuments like Moorish Castle, Monastery of Capuchos, Monserrate Palace, National Palace, Pena Palace, Quinta da Regaleira, Seteais Palace and fabulous botanical gardens. Robert Southey, English poet describes Sintra as the most bless, spot on the whole inhabitable globe.

Nice house, well looked after, and great pool. Weather was perfect, not too hot. The area was beautiful, many palaces and museums in the area, and access to Lisbon 40 mins away was very handy.
On the downside the Atlantic beaches are pretty rough (except in Cascais / Estoril) and the water very chilly. Also the owners should point out that they live in the summer house, albeit quietly. This does affect value for money.

Gracias rosa por hacernos sentir como en nuestra casa.
5/5 Heerlijke locatie, de: um viajante, 19/Ago/2009Wij hebben genoten in dit fijne huis in nog een stukje authentiek Portugal. Het enige waar je rekening mee moet houden is dat er nogal eens zeemist kan zijn en dan duurt het even voordat de lucht echt blauw is bij het huis, omdat het zo dicht bij zee staat. De foto´s bedriegen niet. Er staan misschien wel net even wat meer huizen in de omgeving die nog gekocht moeten worden om te worden opgeknapt. Wij willen Rosa heel erg bedanken voor haar lieve ontvangst en gastvrijheid. Alles was Top!
5/5 really beautiful , de: A wonderful place to stay, 19/Jul/2009Last May we spend two weeks in this lovely accomodation with our family (two adults and two children age 4 and 2). We had a really beautiful time. The house is very comfortable and totally equiped (towels, childrenseat, childrenbed, etc.). The owner Rosa was incredible nice and careful. The town itself is nice and quit with excellent beaches in the environment. We had a hard time to say goodbye and when i see the pictures now I get a little 'homesick'. So well done Rosa hope to see you soon!
