Tal-Kitarra is a charming, rustic style newly constructed house which has been built to a very high standard, offering all modern comforts and amenities. It is set in a quiet side street in the west of the island of Gozo, in the heart of the quaint hamlet of Santa Lucia, along with the two other farmhouses, just a five minute drive away from the main town of Victoria.

From the main entrance four steps lead to the spacious open plan living room with comfy sofas to relax in front of the wide screen television. There is lot of space for entertaining with games and a movie library too. On the ground floor there is a twin bedroom with a stylish Jacuzzi en-suite bathroom, and a separate shower room.

There is also a built in barbecue for guests use. Facing the pool is a partially covered terrace with bamboo sticks providing shade from the heat of the sun in summer and is equipped with outdoor dining furniture. It is an ideal place for children to play. Stepping inside the villa, you enter the light and airy open plan living space. With the wooden beamed ceiling and south facing windows, you are presented with a flight of stone stairs. Leading off this area is a triple bedroom with an en suite shower room. This room can be made up into a family room upon request. There is a very stylish rustic feel to the third bedroom which is a double and guests can take advantage of the delightful views from their private balcony - a perfect spot for a glass of wine.

The pool is not as child friendly as depicted in the advert, young children would not be happy with it (our grandchildren are swimmers and didn't have a problem with it).
Otherwise we were very happy with everything about the villa and had a lovely holiday.

The propety owners where exceptional in welcoming us to Gozo. They gave us an experience of the culture of Gozo that i am sure we would not have found any where else. We went in August it was very hot and the fans and portable air conditioning was not enough to keep us cool however the propety had everything else you could wish for. The outdoor area and pool was brilliant. The views from the rooftop were stunning. We were close to all amenities and tourist attractions. I would recommend it to my friends who enjoy the very hot weather.

We stayed at Tal-Kitarra Villa in order to have a family get together and a relaxing holiday all in one. The experience was brilliant from start to finish, from arriving at the airport, the owner, Marvik, had everything organised from transfers to a bottle of wine on arrival!!! He had even bought a new matress for my little girls cot gave us some board games and films for evening entertainment and we were even given a basket of fresh eggs from their own chickens. You dont get this kind of thoughtfulness in many places, honestly they could not do enough for us! The villa was beautiful and the location perfect for us, Victoria is only a short walk but a taxi is 6 euros. When in Victoria you can get a bus to pretty much anywhere for 50 cents! We chose not to hire a car but if you want to do a lot of sight seeing or are not big on walking then this is probably a good idea... and Marvik will happily arrange this for you also! The only negative I can think of is the pool was a little on the cold side, this would not be a problem later in the year though. We all enjoyed a lovely holiday and will be back again next year! · By Becki from Shropshire, UK on 5/5/2010 for a stay in 4/1/2010

In August 2009, a group of us stayed at Tal-Kitarra in Gozo. There were 4 adults and 4 children aged between 10 and 14. We fell in love wth the villa on our arrival. It was clean, spacious and well decortaed. It included all the amenities we required for our stay and we cooked in the villa several times. The bedrooms were cool, clean and open, and the children loved the seating area on the 1st floor. There were several bathrooms and we were particularly pleased that there was a shower room on the way out to the pool. It meant that we all got showered before and after using the pool without having to treck upstairs dripping wet to our own bathrooms. The highlight of the villa was definitely the large pool which occupied our time for much of the day. The seating area outside in front of the pool was wonderful- we ate breakfast and supper there on several days, and it really made us feel like we were on holiday somewhere exotic. The kitchen was well stocked and functional, and the breakfast table was our meeting point in the mornings. One or two evenings were spent in the lounge area where we watched dvd's and overall the villa provided us with an amazing holiday home. We are really thankful to Marvik and his family for making our experience so memorable and comfortable. They were always on hand to help, and we felt well looked after. Communication with Marvik before and after our holiday was also easy and I feel that we will definitely stay at Tal-Kitarra again in the near future. · By Bushra from London on 3/30/2010 for a stay in 8/1/2009

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tal-Kitarra Villa last summer. Marvik and his family provide a level of service and hospitality that is second to none. Tal-Kitarra is a beautiful property and has been maintained to an excellent standard both inside and out, complete with all the amenities that a family could wish for which made for a memorable holiday break. We will most certaintly be returning to the beautiful island of Gozo and look forward to staying at Tal-Kitarra or another of Marvik's farmhouses again. · By Shixbi from London on 3/25/2010 for a stay in 8/1/2009

Being half Maltese, many of my friends expressed a wish to see the island. I had only ever stayed with family in Balzan so this was going to be a new experience. The final count was ten of us, so we decided to look at renting a villa to save money and be closer together. After weeks of searching, many of the villa operators were not getting back to me or getting back to me too late with nothing we wanted. Many villas on Malta looked under kept and overpriced. We had already booked flights and I worried that we would be stuck. Then I found Tal Kitarra and really liked the look of the place. I tried not to get excited and sent an email to Marvik Borg with our requirements. Within two days I had a response, with a list of all the things that the company have to offer. The whole group were picked up at the airport at 1am! We were taken to the villa and welcomed warmly. Marvik had arranged for the fridge to be stocked up with wine and prosecco at cost price and a complementary hamper lay on the table. The villa was extremely spacious and clean. The beds were firm and comfy. The pool was amazingly deep and there were enough chairs and sun beds (always a perk for my German boyfriend!). Marvik also arranged to have two rental cars parked outside with the keys posted in the letterbox. We were well looked after, and had options to enjoy visits to places and massage therapies. The best part was the quiet escape Gozo brought us. The island is less busy than Malta, with some fantastic restaurants and beaches. The prices are cheaper and we saved so much by staying there. In fact, I had such a great time that I am going back again this year with some more friends. This time trying out another of Marvik's villas, Ta Nikola. I would really recommend Gozobreaks as a company. They are a small family business who makes you feel welcome. I felt so proud to show my friends part of my heritage and it would not have been so amazing without Marvik and his wife Anna! · By Melissa Jane Knight from London, UK on 3/19/2010 for a stay in 3/1/2010

What a gem to find such a place as Tal-Kitarra Farmhouse in the wealth of pages the internet provides! We consider ourselves honoured to be among the first to visit this fabulous farmhouse and enjoy the peace of Gozo. The kids have had a great time at the pool and sightseeing both on Gozo and on our day trips to Malta. Everywhere the 'locals' have chatted to the children, made us feel very welcome and done their best to 'point us in the right direction'.Special places? Too many to mention but I disagree with the Guide Book we had. We visited several of the churches - Xewkija (go up the lift to admire the views) and Ta' Pinu are special. I loved Dwejra Point and we thought Xlendi was far more cosmopolitan than Marsalforn, but each to their own.If you get the chance to be a part of one of the village 'Festas', be there! We were here for the Assumption and the festivities in Victoria were amazing - never seen anything like it! The fireworks, well...As for Malta, we only visited twice but Valletta is well worth more than a day; head up towards 'Upper Barracca' Gardens for fantastic views. Mdina is also a must for atmosphere, history and religion all ralled into one.Places to eat? We tried 'La Stanza' on the road to San Lawrenz and also 'Brookies' (we had a very long wait between courses but the food was fabulous!) Le Val d'Hor in Xleni was also very nice - all family friendly too.But for making our holiday memorable we must thank Marvik and all his fabulous family! They are all so friendly, welcoming and helpful. Fresh tomatoes here are gorgeous!! We will be back without a doubt!
