Overview

With its classic red shutters, stone slab ceilings, limestone flooring and a history that goes back to 300 years, Tal-Barun farmhouse will appeal to the most discerning of guests.

This farmhouse is only a couple of minutes drive to the famous Dwejra Bay and it is only a short stroll away from the village square and local shops and restaurants and bars. On entering the house from the street where nothing is revealed of what lies beyond, it is only when you step inside that the farmhouse aspect is enjoyed.

Tal-Barun farmhouse is set up on split levels and provides a stylish and comfortable setting for a self catered holiday. The entrance hall leads to a fully equipped kitchen with an antique table that comfortably seats 5 guests. Direct sunlight from the front windows ensure a warm welcome, while the thick stone walls keep the house cool even on the hottest day. From here you can walk through a French door onto an enclosed courtyard with a small private pool that gives you the maximum of privacy. Furnished with flowering plants and an outdoor table for two create the perfect setting to an intimate candlelit dinner. Back in the hall way there is a shower room particularly designed with two shower heads.

On the ground floor there is the living area and a comfy white sofa bed adds to the rustic attraction and we have provided a TV and DVD/CD player, there is also a selection of board games, books and DVDs for you to enjoy. For those wanting to catch up with e mails from home there is wi-fi access. The first bedroom is reached from the internal stone staircase. Full of character, the focal point of this bedroom is its four posted double bed with white tulle. Spacious and elegantly furnished this bedroom has a armchair/folding bed, CD player, a typical small window from where you can enjoy the beautiful view of the countryside, sea views in the distance and a bathroom en suite. Five steps lead to a lovely terrace overlooking the pool a lovely spot for sunbathing or a cup of tea. These steps give access to the second bedroom. This beautiful twin bedroom has been designed in a traditional style creating a warm, friendly environment for you to relax.

The furnishings are from the 19th century and the attractive wrought iron twin beds can be made up to a queen size bed. There is space for kids to sleep with parents as there is an elevated built in bed. This bedroom has an en-suite shower room with two doors that lead to a reading area and a single wrought iron bed and comfy cushions. Cosy and compact this opens to a French door that leads to the terrace overlooking the pool, and to an internal staircase that leads to the laundry room.

Tal-Barun farmhouse boasts a roof garden with stunning views and a barbecue. Furnished with outdoor furniture, an al fresco supper on the lovely roof is a very inviting thought. The house is bathed in sunshine for most of the day, and guests are fortunate in being able to enjoy the magical experience, observing sunset over Dwejra Bay from the roof garden. The area is noted for the fresh breeze that is an almost daily event. My partner and I had a fantastic week at Tal-Barun. The farmhouse had everything we wanted and more and the location was perfect, very peaceful but close to all amenities. We were very impressed by the standard of the accommodation and the master bedroom, especially, was better than most hotels we have stayed at in the UK and abroad.

The only advice I would give to anyone booking would be that, although not necessary, it was very useful to have a hire car during our stay. This is not too much of a problem as car rental prices in Malta are extremely reasonable.

We would definitely visit Gozo again and would not hesitate to go back to Tal-Barun, we have already recommended it to all of our friends and family!

Lovely renovated farmhouse in a small friendly village . Excellent restaurant 3 minutes walk from house which we used regularly. The house is very well equiped with everything you need for self catering. Outdoor space is on the roof and has a barbecue, table, chairs, loungers and a small kitchen. The pool is in a small courtyard off the main kitchen. The owners have worked hard to make the house and outside space attractive. Gozo is ideal if you want a relaxed holiday. It is very rural and harks back to a Malta 40 years ago. A car is essential although many people use the local buses. The bus stop is about 30 metres from the house.

My partner and I spent the most fantastic week in Tal Barun back in mid March !
The house was absolutely beautiful, very very romantic and you could tell the efforts the Borg family put into making it the beautiful relaxing retreat it is !
We had absolutely everything that could be needed, if not more, and could have done with an extra week for enjoy the all house ! We specially enjoy the roof terrace for long breakfast every day, the panoramic view of this part of the island was fantastic and we have been blessed by the weather, though the nights were still cold. They were flowers everywhere between the courtyard, the balcony and the roof terrace, and it was a delight to wake up in the beautiful master bedroom with the sun light on the limestone, just hearing the small waterfall noise of the swimming pool in the courtyard !
The area was really quiet and having done most of the island with the car or by feet, the surrounding of San Lawrenz were I think, one of the most beautiful with plenty of walks from the house, the perfect spot where to stay in Gozo !
I must thanks specially Anna and Marvik who have been fantastic hosts, taking great care of our well being as guests, showing great availability and flexibility !
I hope we will have the occasion to come back some day, its with great nostalgy that we remember these holidays where we felt at home !
Greetings from Ireland from Delphine & Gavin

We had a wonderful week staying at this quiet, quaint farmhouse. The welcome and service delivered by the owners was second to none. From the greeting at the airport, detour for gorgeous ice cream before getting to the farmhouse set off our holiday perfectly. The accommodation itself is wonderful and quirky, full of character. We spent most of our evenings enjoying BBQ's on the roof terrace, which for us was the best point about the house. Marvik and his family provided us with a wonderful opportunity to stay at their farm house where we were able to see the beautiful local villge and still within a bus/taxi ride away from the nearest city.Highly reccommended, service was outstanding and we will definately consider a return. · By scoteee from Manchester uk on 3/25/2010 for a stay in 5/1/2009

Me and my family spent a wonderful three weeks at the Tal-Barun farmhouse. You really do have to see it to appreciate the warmth and splendor. Full of nooks and crannies and adorned with wonderful decorative items this really is a home away from home. The owners are fantastic people as warm as the climate with an excellent philosophy toward customer service that no other stay has matched. This really is a special place and will stay in our hearts forever. Writing this review has brought back some great memories. It was our second time to Gozo and we definitely weren’t disappointed. Thank you so much for a great holiday. The house was beautiful and we enjoyed our trips out. We enjoyed visiting places such as Victoria and Xlendi. We loved eating out at restaurants which were not far. Overall our holiday was a pleasure.Thank you, thank you, thank you!The Stephens Family

We can’t add much to the wonderful detail and helpful information and thoughts left by earlier visitors – but although we were only here for 3 days after a week in Malta we have loved Tal-Barun on Gozo and hope to return.Thank you so much Marvik, Victoria and Joseph for making everything so easy and so enjoyable!Liz and HarryNorfolkUK

"Thank you, Marvic, for a wonderful, wonderful holiday in beautiful Tal Barun in San Lawrenz. We had an idyllic week, with two days of rain where we were secretly pleased to be able to relax and enjoy the villa! Although I have only stayed at Tal Barun, I will happily highly recommend all of your farmhouses judging by the superb quality at Tal Barun. We look forward to our next visit!"Kind regards, Lee and MarkLondonSeptember 2006
