Overview
Prestigious villa in Taormina with swimming pool and a private garden. Two floors, 4 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, large living room with fireplace and dining room, kitchen that overlooks the pool, large garden (2,500 sq m). There is an outdoor shower with hot water. The bathrooms are located: 1 (with corner tube) on the ground floor, 2 (both with shower) and 1 with tube on the first floor. All rooms are equipped with air conditioning and/or ceiling fan. On the first floor there are 3 bedrooms. The villa has central heating. The entertainment system includes: satellite TV (40 inches), home theater interior and exterior, CD / DVD, wi-fi. Availability of cook and waiter on request. The house is regularly occupied by the owners and is equipped with all the amenities. The kitchen is well equipped, spacious and bright. Villa Calypso has valuable furniture mainly from "Sicilian" handicraft. The garden is particularly suitable for children with swing and "house on the tree". Located on several levels, the garden offers a beautiful view from any angle. There are ornamental plants, but also the famous orange "Tarot" red, lemon trees (winter-spring), the "fichi d'india" (early September) and many natural flavorings. The pool is 6 x 12 mt, well exposed and with a pleasant temperature. The deepest part is 2.70 mt, the shallower less than 1 m. The villa, whose main building dates back to the 800', is situated on a hill facing Mount Etna and dominating the valley of the Alcantara. It is surrounded by citrus groves planted with lemon trees. It is located in the district of Trappitello Taormina, at the beginning of the road to the Alcantara Gorges. The location of Villa Calipso is ideal, being placed in an independent and quiet environment, just a few feet (200 meters) from shops and services. It is also a few minutes away from all major attractions of Taormina "Isola Bella" (4 km), the Alcantara Gorges (6 km), Etna (45 km) and only 2 km from the highway. A few meters from Villa Calipso there is a local bus stop for the city of Taormina and the beaches.
Tips and activities. The superb location allows easy access to all major tourist destinations in Sicily. The climate of the area makes it particularly attractive in the months of May-June and September-November. In June there is, among other activities, the Taormina Film Festival. The excellent organization of Villa Calypso, and services make this a particularly attractive place for young couples with children. Villa Calipso is suitable even during the winter period, when visiting Sicily is an amazing experience. The house is located 45 minute to Linguaglossa ski center; skiing on the Vulcano is an unforgettable adventure. The best period for skiing is December to March.

The views from this villa are outstanding. There are plenty of shops nearby and only a short journey to the beach. We especially enjoyed the pool which was beautifully maintained and we ate outside at every meal with the spectacular views of the mountains and Etna.
The village of Trappitello itself is not very pretty but contains everything you need without having to drive. However once in the villa it feels as if you are in the middle of the country.

Excellent location - we did not find a better view of Etna anywhere else than when we opened the curtains in the morning!
The owner went beyond his duty to help us with any issues we had. He was extremely considerate of our needs.
Our toddler and baby loved this place, although it needs child proofing for very young kids (especially the stairs).
Stairs also dont have a hand rail which makes it difficult for older people or those with mobility issues.
Impressed with the house staff - especially the pool guy, who was charming, friendly and very kind.
We did not speak Italian which made communicating with cook too tricky. But the owner and check-in staff were always very understanding.
Some issues with minor leaky roof in bedroom, accessing the villa during a festival, an ant infestation in the kitchen, working out the hot water for bathing, and mosquitos (October). But again the owner was always at the end of the phone to help even at a late hour.
Hot shower by the pool was fabulous. Lovely big bathtub which the kids loved.
Tasteful interesting furnishing. The villa has lots of character.
We were delighted with all the help yourself food items in the kitchen (pasta, cereal, local honey etc) - very little need to go shopping!
This is a truely wonderful place that offers so much more than your average hotel. You will not be disappointed when you arrive. It is extremely easy to drive to.
Highly recommended for families, particularly once it is tweaked to accomodate seniors and children.

Il soggiorno che il viaggio in Sicilia ha inciso per sempre nei nostri cuori. Quando stavamo cercando un posto per festeggiare il lustro del nostro gruppo di amici, volevamo un posto che superasse le nostre aspettative. L'abbiamo trovato. Dal momento in cui siamo entrati, è stato amore a prima vista. Questa villa ci darebbe la settimana della nostra vita. A volte l'amore a prima vista può dare false speranze. Ma no, le nostre speranze erano giustificate. Non è mai stato deludente. Il forno per la pizza, che ha reso la nostra pizza fatta in casa migliore di quanto avessimo osato sognare. La vasca idromassaggio, che ha facilitato le nostre conversazioni, con l'Etna come carta da parati di prima scelta. E la piscina, che ci ha tenuti freschi e svegli nelle calde giornate estive siciliane. Infine le camere da letto si sono assicurate che da bambini dormissimo una settimana, fresche, curate e pulite. Siamo grati per aver vissuto la Villa e per l'ospitalità della padrona di casa premurosa. Grazie mille!! Tutto perfetto!
Amazing villa central to everything This house is gorgeous, with a great view of Mt. Etna. It's very central and close to many other towns nearby, including Taormina, which is very very beautiful. The owner and his team were super helpful, they even paired us with a nanny for our 1 year old. I would come back for sure!
Questa struttura è una casa vacanze familiare che ha una vista meravigliosa sull'Etna ed è vicina a Taormina quindi super per visitare quella parte della Sicilia Niente, in realtà è chiaramente una casa della famiglia che la possiede e quindi ha un sacco di cose come giochi per famiglie che Ci sarebbe stato utile così mi sono sentito Una seconda casa.
osizione, posizione, posizione Ottima posizione, a pochi passi dai negozi. Breve tragitto in auto per Taormina. Spiaggia favolosa a soli 5 minuti a Giardini-Naxos. La villa però è in una zona molto tranquilla e offre totale privacy. La cucina è davvero ben fornita per cucinare e cuocere in famiglia, cosa che ci è piaciuta molto.Lo spazio esterno è eccellente. Un sacco di comodi posti a sedere con una fantastica vista sull'Etna. Ottima anche la piscina. Verso la fine del nostro soggiorno di tre settimane faceva un po' freddo ma era la fine di ottobre. Sergio il proprietario & Roberto sono stati facilmente contattabili e molto disponibili.
Amazing Villa Calipso We - 5 adults and 3 children - stayed at Villa Calipso in October 2019 and all found the villa amazing. The house itself is charming and authetic and the garden is absolutely wonderful with a lot of nice spots from where you can enjoy an amazing view of Etna. We also enjoyed an absolutely fantastic local dinner made by Robertos mother served at the house terrasse. Moreover, the location of the villa is a perfect starting point for exploring Sicily. We would defintely like to come back!

This is my family house where we spend our vacations since I was child. I am a professor of medicine who live and work in Palermo but often abroad because of researches. My wife and I spent a couple of years in Canada and we particularly love this country.
