Villa Asterea, Ratzakli - Kefalonia, Greece

We had another wonderful holiday at Villa asterea following in our footsteps of last year. As always, the island of Kefalonia was very beautiful, the weather was hot and sunny and the villa was like a home from home. The villa and the pool were kept in immaculate condition and the garden was a pleasure to sit in. There are some lovely bars and tavernas nearby but a car is a must! This was our first visit to Kefalonia. We did not know anything about the Island, so we made the decision to rent this villa based on earlier reviews. And we were not disappointed! The villa is well kept, and everything was just as described and depicted, if not better. The owner or his father came by every day to tend to the pool, and a nice lady came to clean twice a week. A bonus was that the villa had Wi-Fi installed just before we came, so we could use our computer and smartphone whenever needed. The villas best feature was, for us, its location. Its a short drive from Skala, with its stone/pebble beach, nice restaurants, charming small shops, multiple supermarkets and a park with a playground. But because the villa is within walking distance of to the beautiful Kaminia beach, which is said to be the best beach for families with children with its soft sand, shallow waters and no currents and of course crystal clear water, we didnt have to go to Skala if we didnt want to. There are to tavernas on the beach, and the second one has good food, a beautiful view, a separate snackbar down by the beach and free umbrellas and sunbeds. We hope to come back to Kefaloni, to discover more of this beautiful islands secrets. And when we (hopefully) do we wish to return to Villa asterea. It was a perfect, relaxing holiday - sun, sand and sea, along with interesting history, stunning nature and a feel of the genuine Greek way of life. Freitag Family - Norway - July 2013

We were welcomed to the villa by the owner who obviously took great pride in looking after the villa and making sure our needs were met. We had every thing we needed and the wine on arrival was delicious! We were also given water and other basic neccesities when we arrived. The villa was maintained to a very high standard and was beautifully furnished and well stocked with equipment. The garden and pool areas were clean and the loungers were comfortable. The location was just outside of Skala and was easily accesible by car, the views from the balconies were stunning and the surrounding villas were not intimidatingly close. The beds were comfortable and overall we have stayed in more expensive villas and they have not been as well kept and furnished as Villa asterea. I would reccommend staying at this villa. "fantastic": We had a cracking time at villa asterea. We would certainly recemmend others to the villa, it had everything you could wish for and more. The service of Wendy and Dennis was excellent and the hospitality and kindness shown by Dennis and Katrina was second to none. It is a holiday memory that will stay with us, and our friends Ray and June who shared the villa with us, for a long time. "Relaxing good facilities" : The facilities were excellent ideal for the young the mature and families. Every facility has been carefully thought out and nothing as been missed out. The facilities were kept clean and bedding changed twice weekly the pool was tended on a daily basis. We were welcomed in true Greek style and couldnt fault the service we received. "It doesnt get much better than this" The service we received was excellent. The owner and his wife were there to greet us and show us around this beautiful and well appointed villa. It was spacious, very well equipped and the window meshes were invaluable. the poolwas beautiful and extremely well maintained. The villa was situated in the quiet southern area of the island but was just a short drive for villages, tavernas and restaurants. A 2 minutes drive to the lovely quiet, safe sandy beach with sun beds and umbrellas and 2 rustic tavernas serving snacks and drinks offered an ideal place to relax, and ideal fo children. The hillside location provided a beautiful view of the sea and allowed us to relax with the bbq and pool around the villa for many of our evenings. Finally for us the stars of the holiday were the owner and his wife who were wonderful people. Beautiful country,warm and friendly people, wonderful weather, delicious food, breathtaking scenery, lovely clear and warm sea. Looking forward to returning next year. "Wonderful Vill" What a wonderful holiday. The villa was everything we could have asked for - perfect location, perfect pool and immaculate. We have had a wonderful time at this beautiful villa. Perfect, quiet location & close to restaurants and beautiful beaches. Our two boys (2 and 4) who are now water babies adored the pool as well as the beaches and the warm welcome in all the tavernas. "Lovely family villa in peaceful surroudings" The villa was perfect for us, having a lovely large pool with shallow end and steps making it great for the children. The facilities were excellent. The villa itself was very well furnished and kitted out with everything you would need. The owner visited often to check everything was ok. Very peaceful location, all you could hear was the hum of cicadas and the bells on the sheep in the nearby fields. Great stay. Excellent bakeries in Skala - custard pies particularly good. Beach Kaminia very good - can see fish if you go snorkeling in the rocks. The roman villa and mosaics in Skala are worth a visit. The Jones Family - Hartlepool, UK - May 2011
