After a long flight, arriving in Mesa Riza was wonderful for us and our two children (8 and 10). We immediately jumped into the pleasantly lit pool that evening. In the morning, we were even more impressed by the stunning view from our clean apartment. Everything was perfect! In the beautiful, romantic harbor village of Agia Galini, we enjoyed some fantastic (and inexpensive) food and drinks (following the recommendations). The excursions to the Patsos Gorge, the oh-so-cozy beach bar on Agios Giorgos, the Watercity amusement park, and Pavlos and Red Beach (Matala) are our top picks. Between our excursions, we made plenty of use of the pool to cool off – wonderful! There were plenty of toys for the kids. Communication with Paul was smooth: always ready for a chat, tips, or help! Always available. In short, a truly memorable holiday. Highly recommended. We'll be bragging about this for a long time to come to our closest colleagues, family, and friends! Thank you, Paul and Astra, for the wonderful stay and the beautiful memories! Owner response: Thank you so much. You're making us blush...
We stayed at Mesa Riza with the whole family. What a beautiful place this is. The apartments are spacious and clean with comfortable beds, and the kitchen is fully equipped. The view over the valley is stunning... starting the morning with such a beautiful view was a gift every day. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool and the beautiful garden, which is so lovingly maintained. The lovely pool house was a wonderful place to gather. Everything was taken care of down to the last detail. Communication with Paul is smooth; no question is too much for him. Paul and Astra are sweethearts! We had a wonderful holiday and will definitely return to this wonderful accommodation! Owner response: Thank you so much... You have a special place in our hearts too ;)
n May, we spent a week at the beautifully situated Mesa Riza for the fourth time. It's a truly beautiful place where you can completely unwind. Very well-maintained and tidy, both inside and out. A spacious and well-equipped apartment. A clear blue pool surrounded by a lovely terrace. We received a warm welcome once again from host Paul and hostess Astra, who always provided us with lots of information and tips. A day trip with Paul is highly recommended. He takes you to beautiful and hidden spots in his 4x4. His boat gives you a view of the impressive coastline of Agia Galini and the surrounding area from the sea. The excursion picnic prepared by Astra is also not to be missed. Paul and Astra can recommend delicious restaurants and cozy beach bars. Although we've already been there four times, we already know that a fifth will follow in the future. Owner response: Thank you so much for this wonderful review. Especially since you've been here four times already... We're looking forward to the fifth time :)
FANTASTIC! We had a wonderful week with Paul and Astra in Mesa Riza (in Agia Galini), where every day seemed to have a different pace—sometimes like a quiet adagio, sometimes like a sunny allegro. Because we were the only ones staying there that week, we were able to enjoy the grounds and the pool in complete harmony, as if we were attending a private concert in an open-air amphitheater. Our apartment was beautifully situated, overlooking the sea and the river, where ships from the Minoan Empire must have once sailed. The surroundings exude history and serenity simultaneously, with the scent of thyme and the soft echo of ancient stories on the wind. An absolute highlight was the boat trip with Paul—a creative all-rounder and classically trained musician—past villages and secluded beaches, where the silence was interrupted only by the rustling of the sea and the fluttering of fish below us. The children had a wonderful time, playing freely in a setting that felt as timeless as it was inspiring. If it were up to us, we'd happily return someday—and if we had the place to ourselves again, it would be a return visit we'd absolutely look forward to. Owner response: Thank you so much for all the kind words. We're speechless :)
WONDERFUL! For all future travelers planning to book at Mesa Riza, we are happy to confirm that all previous positive reviews are a true reflection of the real experience. We highly recommend booking a wonderful holiday here. You'll be embraced by the tranquility emanating from the beautiful surrounding nature; everyone will find something to their liking. Relax quietly with a book by the pool or in the Pool House, or venture out to discover authentic Crete… Mesa Riza's central location is perfect for this. The excursions, led by Paul, by 4x4 or boat, are fantastic. In the evening, we enjoy the accommodations in our spacious apartment, equipped with every comfort, or have a cozy dinner at one of the many restaurants in Agia Galini and stroll through the charming streets… Carpe Diem. All this, combined with the pampering of Paul and Astra, meant a wonderful, enjoyable holiday for us. And the icing on the cake was that we were able to enjoy a mini piano concert performed by Paul at our farewell. Thanks for everything, Paul and Astra... Owner response: We are once again speechless. It's touching and beautiful how you showered us with flowers. It gives us the strength to continue our 'Mesa Rizapad'... Added on: 12-05-2025 at 13:25
