Its location on the coast also allows for easy access to some breath-taking sights to the north and south.
Among them are Prasonisi's beautiful beaches and the natural wonders of Vouno Kalathos Park and the Epta Piges. Lindos, with its famous clifftop Acropolis, is only 20-25 minutes' drive from Gennadi, and you can get to the island's capital in about an hour.
Almost any stop along the way will be worthwhile, with the stunning beaches and rugged scenery of Kolympia and Archangelos being just two examples.

Rhodes, a popular tourist destination, has more than its fair share of natural beauty and landmark sights.
It would be a shame to miss out on discovering its charms for yourself, with an international airport, Diagoras, about 20 minutes' drive from the capital.
The town of Rhodes, located on the island's northern tip, is a good place to start.
A stroll along the mediaeval walls of the Old Town will provide you with some stunning views, which are accessible from the must-see Palace of the Grand Masters. As part of a World Heritage Site, this is also the location of a fine museum where you can learn about Rhodian history dating back to the 3rd century BC.
Another museum worth visiting is the Museum of Modern Greek Art, which has an eclectic collection rivalled only by Athens. The New Town area is visually appealing in and of itself, with much of its architecture influenced by Art Deco.
The Evangelismós Cathedral, which is located in Mandráki harbour, has some impressive frescoes.
The Lindos Acropolis is as beautiful as the surrounding coastline and is well worth seeing.
Down the coast, there are also resorts like Ammoudes, Kolympia, and, perhaps most notably, Faliraki.
While its reputation precedes it, this is no longer the hedonism capital of the world. During the day, a children's water park and the beautiful Anthony Quinn Bay may tempt you, and an aquarium and scuba-diving school also embrace the aquatic theme.
Prasonisi's location at the very southern tip of the island, separating the Aegean and the Mediterranean, is considered prime wind-surfing territory.
If that sounds a little too thrilling, Rhodes' more sedate attractions, such as the Valley of the Butterflies, numerous wineries, and the seven springs of the wonderfully scenic Epta Piges nature reserve, will provide an equally enjoyable day out.
