A comfortable house over viewing a pretty market town, halfway between the Med beaches and 5-6 Pyrenean Ski resorts. Our house is good for 2-10 people

Overview

A very nice fully equipped house over looking the town, with perfect views of the mountains. 2 bedrooms on the first floor, with double beds and wardrobes in each. Dining-sitting room with a TV, dining place for 10. A separate kitchen equipped with gas stove, microwave, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, dishes, cutlery, kitchen utensils, electric pot, coffee machine. Bathroom, separate WC. Wonderful view from dining – sitting room and the kitchen, as well as from the terrace.2 bedrooms on the ground floor (1 double, 1 – with twin beds), wardrobe in each. Sitting room with a sofa-bed and TV. Shower room and a separate WC. Also a washing machine, an iron with ironing board and vacuum cleaner. There is a garage and a parking space for 1 more car – in front of the gates. Though you can easily get almost everywhere without the car - the railway station is only 700 m away. The property is fenced, both the garden and the house are safe for children. There is a BBQ area in teh garden with great view!

An Activity Heaven All Year Round
Our house is ideal for anyone wishing to avoid the expense and bustle of resorts such as Nice or Chamonix. The position of the house is really perfect, offering cool nights in summer after a hot day on the beach and warm evenings in winter - after a day of skiing. And no mistral! The town centre, a 10 minute stroll, has a lot of restaurants and all the necessary shops, as well as banks and ATMs. A supermarket is in 1.5 km. There is a large municipal swimming pool and tennis courts at a 1 km distance. All kinds of sports, sightseeing, nature watching, hot springs and spas and a lot of wine related activity, the closest wine making village being only 6 km away.
Prades is a very pretty French with a big and colorful market on Tuesday and Saturday mornings where you can buy local produce such as the peaches and cherries that are grown in abundance here, fresh vegetables, wonderful cheeses and the excellent wine. There are events and festivals throughout the year. Spanish cellist Pablo Casals fled to Prades during the Spanish civil war, stayed and established the festival that now bears his name and is held each year for 2 weeks in July-August at Prades itself, but also in the Saint-Michel-de-Cuxa.
There are plenty of things to do all year round. The skiing season starts in December and often lasts through into April. The main resorts are at Font Romeu - Pyrenees 2000 (40 pistes, 52 km in total) and Les Angles (32 pistes, 40 km in total). Swimming –at the lake Vinca at a 10 km distance or at a water sports park (40 km) or at any coastal resort you can choose from a large range of (45 km to the closest).Wind surfing, water skiing at most coastal resorts. Diving at Argeles, Banyuls, Port Vendres, Bacares, St Cyprien and Collioure. Golf at Font Romeu there is a 9 hole golf course at a beautiful mountain setting. St Cyprien-Plage has a 27 hole golf course. Spas and thermal baths in Vernet-les-Bains (Rheumatology) and Molitg-les-Bains (Respiratory pathologies and Skin diseases). Outstanding natural sulphurous hot springs in wonderful outdoor mountain setting in St Thomas les Bains. Casino and night club in Vernet les Bains, wine making village – just 6 km away. And a lot more!

A good Base for Exploring the Region
Pyrenees-Orienatles is a beautiful region with perfect climate and a lot of places to visit. Among them: Villefranche de Conflent A medieval town with complete fortified walls. It is also the starting point for a ride on Yellow Train. You can ride in open or closed top carriages admiring the breathtaking view. Abbeys at St Martin de Canigou & St Michel de Cuxa. The 1.3 km long path to St Michel starts almost from the gate of the house. By the way, St Michel de Cuxa it that very place where the heroine finally kills Dracula in the bestseller by E. Kostova “The Historian”.Tautavel Museum – the site of the oldest human in Europe. Natural reserve in Nyer - wild life of the Pyrenees preserved as it is. The Perfume Tower in Mosset can be reached in 15 min, the Solar Oven at Mont-Louis in 30 min by car. And also Perpignan with its Palace of the Kings of Majorca, Collioure with its Royal palace overlooking one of the most beautiful ports in France, Ceret with its Modern Arts museum are well worth visiting.

Brilliant location with excellent views and many opportunities for good walks. Accommodation comfortable for four couples. Well equipped kitchen. Apart from a few teething problems we had an great holiday.

After many attempts to use the rental systems payment service I overpaid as I couldnt change the amount on the system to the correct amount offered by the vendor which took nearly 3 weeks to be re-paid.
The view from the house was amazing its a large property and could be absolutely lovely, but we were dissappointed with the inside condition of the house, it does need a bit of TLC especially the hallway. The floor seemd to be dusty and unwashed when we arrived. When we came to use the dishwasher we found the last tenants had left the dirty plates and cutlery in the dishwasher unwashed, we also found dirty plates and utensils in the cupboards and had to wash everything before using it, which we did mention to the owner who was very apologetic.
We were also very limited as to where we could eat, although the town/village centre was just a short walk away there was only 3 decent restaurants to choose from.
One we did enjoy visiting twice is Le Patio not the cheapest but well worth it.

I truly enjoyed my stay, am very happy. The place is perfectly located, with a breathtaking mountain view from the living room and balcony. The house was very clean, all amenities in order, beds and sitting areas comfortable and arranged with taste and wisdom. Being a "hotel guy", I was at first very skeptical about the idea of booking there, but eventually was satisfied way beyond my expectations. I will definitely refer it to people I know, and will have no doubts where to stay should I visit that neighborhood again!

This was our second time in Prades, and again we stayed in “Bellevue House”. We were 5 people this time (2 kids and 3 adults). The kids occupied the room with twin beds and were quite happy, and we enjoyed each own space - 1 person in a room. There is an exit from the ground floor to the garden and we were using it to leave the house quietly when the upper floor people were still sleeping. I would say the house can sleep up to 8 adults in comfort, or 10-11 people - if you come with kids. We like the location of the house - it’s so much to do in this area, for all ages, and you can travel by train or by bus as well, though we would recommend a car - the house stands on the hill and walking up and down with shopping bags makes a good work-out for the muscles. We were not lucky about the weather this year so were disappointed first to find the sea cold and stormy, but than we rearranged our plans and decided to explore local spa resorts. We visited 3 thermal resorts in Conflent: Molitg les Bains, Vernet les Bains and St. Thomas and found all 3 very pleasing and quite affordable, though the first 2 does not allow children. We also had a very tough sightseeing program and were making BBQ almost every night. We ate a ton of local fruits - fresh and cheap. We even had cherries directly from the tree in the garden. In one word, we had great vacations and would like to come again as soon as we can - probably next winter, this time to ski. Nataly T. July 2013

Cozy and hospitable accomodation. We enjoyed it very much. The directions that the owner gave me were very explanatory, the house was easy to find. We were impressed by its picturesque surroundings, mountains, historical places. At the same time, the neighbourhood of the property is very quiet, and you have very friendly neighbours, Eric helped me with some things. We enjoyed the views, the up-to-date machines at the kitchen, and especially the ping-pong table that we played a lot. I should add that cleanness and the order how things had been organized were just superb! Overall, we were left with a very positive feelings and excellent impression about this place and your skills to organize things to make your house a warm and temporary place for your guests. We will definitely refer this place to our guests and most likely will visit it again. - Per and Rita R. April 2013

We were 6 - 3 adults with 3 kids (from 6 to 11) and we were all happy: kids were playing ping pong - and that was really great, we were enjoying alfresco eating and drinking and long walks. It was warm and sunny most of the time. And we have found quite decent eating places nearby. We would recommend Tautavel museum to families with kids. Will do our best to come again in summer.

Our group consisted of 2 families - 4 parents and 5 kids from 15 - 6. Although we are very experienced travelers, this was the 1st time wed rented a house and we were very impressed. Booking with our agent was an easy, agreeable process. The house is very centrally located in Prades, minutes from the centre of a well-equipped town with excellent summer attractions of its own and central to many other regional attractions. Very clean with all the mod-cons. With 2 families splitting the bill, it was superb value. Weve promoted it through our social networks - highly recommended.

Nous avons beaucoup appr&#233ci&#233 notre s&#233jour dans cette charmante villa &#224 Prades. la maison est tr&#232s bien &#233quip&#233e, nous avons pass&#233 un agr&#233able s&#233jour et les enfants &#233taient ravis. A noter aussi la splendide vue visible du s&#233jour, bien agr&#233able le matin au petit d&#233jeuner. Nous reviendrons avec plaisir &#224 l'occasion." (Incabilouis, France)

We had an enjoyable week in Prades in July 2007. The house in very generous in size with ample room for 8 adults plus children. The view from the lounge window of the Pyrenees is stunning. There is a small garden with barbeque, which is a sun trap. The small town of Prades has a lovely market and we found some good eating places. We wouldn't hesitate to return.

Yes, everybody enjoyed the holiday. It was our first time in the South of France and we will certainly be returning. The Villa had everything that we required and the view from the villa was spectacular ! Phil Collier
