L'Ostalet is an old Languedoc house retaining many original features. It has 2 en suite bedrooms (one on the ground floor), living and dining areas, kitchen, garden and access to heated pool.

Lovely setting amongst rolling hills with a backdrop of the Pyrenees. The houses are all full of character, each one affording the privacy of its own garden, yet with access to the shared grounds and heated pool.
The house has a large living room (24 sq metres), with old beams and an original stone washbasin. The living room gives access to a sunny terrace. An archway leads to the separate dining room (12 sq metres), and on to the newly fitted kitchen. From the dining room french doors lead to a further shaded terrace, and the large private garden area with barbecue. The main bedroom is downstairs, with an en suite bathroom and 120cm shower cubicle. The second bedroom is accessed by a staircase from the living room, and is also en suite.
In addition to the private garden there is access to the 7 acres of shared grounds, with heated swimming pool, and plenty of space for kids to play and adults to relax.
Further afield there is local shopping in Belpech, and the beautiful medieval town of Mirepoix with its Monday market is within easy reach. For kids the Ferme Aux Bisons has a wide variety of animals in a lovely setting, and Carcassonne has daily displays of jousting in the summer. There are plenty of hilltop villages to wander in, and Cathar castles to explore.
Languedoc is a large wine producing area, including the famous sparkling wines of Limoux. There are many vineyards with tours and tastings.

We stayed at the domaine 8 years ago and vowed to come back. Since our first visit, Julian and Nigel, who are perfect hosts, have made numerous improvements to the domaine, including the refit of L'Ostalet into a very well appointed gites.

The surrounding area is as beautiful as ever with a number of lovely small towns and villages in east reach, not to mention the beautiful countryside with the Canal du Midi to the North and the Pyrenees to the South. We'll be back!

Family from London, United Kingdom Jul 2018

My wife, daughter and I had a wonderful week at Le Domaine de Loustalviel / L'Ostalet. The reception rooms, kitchen and master bedroom / bathroom are spacious, comfortable and well appointed, particularly the kitchen if you like to cook. The rear garden is private and catches the sun for most of the day. The upstairs room is accessed from the living room via a spiral staircase and is most suitable for children. The shared pool is very large and well maintained while the poolside area is spacious and clean with plenty of sun loungers and shaded areas. The setting is lovely with countryside all around and views of the Pyrenees. You will need a car for shopping / restaurants and if you wish to explore the local area, which is full of history with plenty of castles and churches to visit; we especially enjoyed Carcassonne, Mirapoix, Foix and Castelnaudry. We spent our last day in Toulouse, which we thoroughly enjoyed with beautiful architecture and a delicious / good value lunch with wonderful service at Le Restaurant (
Julian and Nigel are great hosts, helpful and attentive. They also sell some lovely local wines, which is a great bonus. We particularly enjoyed Domaine Gayda and subsequently visited the vineyard where we had a very enjoyable tasting.
Overall, Le Domaine de Loustalviel is one of the best places we have stayed.

Christine from Colwyn Bay

This property was home from home, everything you needed was there and if it wasnt the owners were happy to help out. They were always there to help with any problem. I would definitely recommend to a friend and would hope to go back myself.

Geraldine from Bournemouth

The property was very comfortable and well furnished with great attention to detail. The pool was excellent and very clean with both shade and sun and plenty of loungers. Julian and Nigel were brilliant hosts - friendly and informative and the cooked meal on the first night was really welcome and delicious.

All in all a very relaxing and enjoyable place to stay.
