The property is in the countryside so a car is essential.
Loulay - the nearest village
You can cycle there in twenty five minutes along the quiet country roads where you can buy bread, visit the market on a Wednesday Friday - they have a tourist information office, a coop, bank, post office, florist, hairdressers and bar/restaurant/'hotel and Tabac. Tennis courts and an open air swimming pool.
Lozay - Fifteen minute bike ride away through the forest with an exhibition of the important stone carvings in and around the Charente Maritime with explanations in English. Excellent picnicking facilities.
St Denis Du Pin - Restaurant / Bar - Under New Management from April 2022,

St Jean d'Angély - Lots of shops, restaurants for you to choose from and absorb the French style of living. Then work off the extra pounds in the pool or on the bike!
Antezant - A great place to eat out of doors with music sessions on some nights during the summer holidays a place for the children to explore
Dampiere sur Butonne - Nearest Chateau, Garage a Papi - Bar enjoy a glass of wine in the orchard, listening to butonne passing by, sometimes live music sessions
Or stay at Le Pouzat and unwind - Lots to do or not your choice!

This is a fabulous cottage. Everything you need for a brilliant holiday. Plenty of places to sit in the large garden. Colleen and Keith are lovely hosts.

The cottage is beautiful set in stunning countryside with fields of sunflowers everywhere. A car is definitely required. We visited Cognac, La Rochelle and there was a gorgeous Chateau a short drive from the cottage.
Colleen and Keith were very helpful and kind and the cottage was equipped with everything we needed.
We would recommend Sunflower Cottage to anyone looking for a relaxing French holiday.

We had a lovely time in the cottage. It is very old and lovely. Everything you need is provided. The english hosts are very friendly and very helpful. The pool is bigger than we had expected. The area is the middle of nowhere, but with a car you can get to the supermarkets, into St Jean d'Angely and Loulay to get anything you need. We had a day trip to La Rochelle, about an hour's drive, which was a great day out. It was about 20 mins on the bikes (provided) to Loulay, and there is a forest across the road but we ran out of time so didn't explore that. We spent a lot of time chilling in the garden with the kids in the pool. It really was a lovely week, very relaxing, very sunny, very quiet. Recommend for sure.
