Overview
Le Pouzat Is in a tiny hamlet in rural France. With all amenties close by. Nearest shops are two minutes drive away in the village of Loulay.
Loulay is the nearest village
You can cyle there in twenty five minutes along the country roads where you can buy bread, visit the market on a Friday - they have a tourist information office, a coop, bank, post office, florist, hairdressers and bar/restaurant/'hotel and tabac. Tennis courts and an open air swimming pool.
Lozay is a fifteen minute bike ride away with an exhibition of the important stone carvings in and around the Charente Maritime with explanations in English. Excellent picnicking facilities totally refurbished during 2012

St Jean dAngély
As the property is in the countryside a car is essential. Lots of shops, restaurants for you to choose from and absorb the French style of living. You could eat at a different restaurant every night. Then work off the extra pounds in the pool or on the bike!
Market days are Wednesdays and Saturdays a chance to sample the local produce on sale.

A great place to eat out of doors with music sessions some nights during the summer holidays

Take a walk or cycle in the forest nearby.
Or walk or cycle in the quiet country lanes and enjoy the sunflowers at their best.

Lovely peaceful location and well placed for exploring the area. The gite was comfortable and well equipped both inside and out, and the owners were very friendly and helpful.

Upon arrival we were upgraded free of charge to Sunflower Cottage, the detached gîte at the end of the drive, so please note the review applies to this property.
The owners Colleen and Keith, who live next door, could not have been more welcoming, friendly, chatty and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay in the gîte. It was well fitted-out, comfortable and roomy. The gardens were well kept but informalthere was loads of space to run around inand trees to shade under. Plenty of rustic charm in the setting of the gîte with lovely views and sunsets in as quiet a sleepy hamlet as you could wish for.
The main town of Saint-Jean-dAngély is a mere 10 minutes away by car with E.Leclerc and Intermarché supermarkets convenient to keep you supplied.
Would recommend this gîte as its very reasonably priced and will likely be going back again in the future.
