Originally a traditional stone and slate farmhouse, now a relaxing family holiday gite in a tranquil location. Only forty minutes drive from the North or South Brittany coasts.

Overview

Right in the heart of the rolling Brittany countryside and surrounded by forests, Les Vallées Gite is a 100 year old traditional Breton longere (long-house) stone and slate farmhouse that has been tastefully renovated into a comfortable and relaxing family Gite that will be exclusively yours for your holiday break.

The Gite is in a small hamlet of 5 houses situated right in the centre of Brittany on the border of departments 22 (Cotes d'Armor) and 56 (Morbihan).

We're perfectly situated, only 40 minutes from both the North and South Brittany coasts, as well as having being close to many local attractions within this beautiful part of North-West France.

The Gite has retained many of its original farmhouse features such as massive oak beams, carved fireplaces and traditional tiled floors whilst we've added modern comforts such as central heating, satellite TV, double glazing, a dishwasher and power shower.

Downstairs the main L-shaped building consists of a large Lounge with working fireplace, a fully-fitted Kitchen and a toilet/shower room; whilst upstairs are two double bedrooms and a twin bedroom, a separate toilet and the bathroom.

Outside, the Gite is situated in a roughly half acre enclosed Garden, surrounded by fields and woods. Between the two 'wings' of the Gite is a floodlit gravelled courtyard and a large open barn on the opposite side.

Beyond the Gite and barn are two large grassed gardens with apple and pear trees, a massive oak tree, flower and shrub beds.

Getting to the Gite is easy with ferries from Portsmouth, Poole and Plymouth to St Malo (1 ½ hours drive), Roscoff (2 hours), Caen (3 hours), Cherbourg (4 hours) and Le Havre (4 hours).

If you prefer the quicker Dover/Calais crossing or Eurotunnel, it's only 6 hours drive (and can cost a fantastic £60 each way with DFDS); or you can fly with Ryanair, FlyBe or AerArran to local Brittany airports from a number of regional airports across the UK and Ireland including London Luton, Stansted, Nottingham, Birmingham, Exeter, Southampton, Cardiff, Cork, Waterford and Dublin.

The gite was excellent and we'll equipped. Really enjoyed a lovely relaxing time. Local area shopping and dining opportunities a little sparse but we were looking for relaxing and that is what we got.

Lovely comfortable house in a part of Brittany you will love.
The only downside was the amount of roads closed while the French resurfaced them in preparation of the Tour de France.
Visit Josselin and Malestroit, 2 lovely towns on the canal.
Also Vannes on wed/sat for the markets. Will be back.

Everything was as described plus a bottle of milk in fridge and a welcoming bottle of wine on kitchen worktop - so many toys and playthings for the children they didn't manage to play with more than a fraction of what was available - Because of other commitments we had only booked for the minimum period and regretted we had not been able to stay longer and enjoy the facilities to the full, as even the weather was good for the days we were there

This property is very reasonably priced for the size & location. The range of facilities are good, although the property is not state of the art, but has a more lived in (home from home) style.

The location is very quiert, but provides a good base for sigh-seeing and exploring the countryside.

Super Gite - excellent owners who have been very good in their communications - our second visit to the Gite and already looking forward to the third.
Central location in Brittany within easy reach of many places to visit.
Gite has all the facilities you could want.

What a place to spend two weeks in! The gite was extremely well equiped, Geoffrey and Liz had thought of everything. The surrounding area was very quiet and the neighbours were lovely. We spent most of our time about the gite, in the pool and hunting for frogs and lizards in the gardens!!! The weather was spectacular and after reading the diary of what previous guests had got up to, we had some lovely trips out. A must see is Josselin, beautiful little town!
So thanks to the owners and would definately recommend a stay here.

Thank you for a lovely stay in your gite. Our two children ( Rhys and Alys 4 and 2) were in heaven with the trains and Teletubbies...then there was the barn full of more exciting things that were tried and tested. Good luck with the additional barn, looks like it is going to be fantastic when its finished. It was hard to go house hunting every day and then return to such a nice place...its a credit to you. Thanks again and according to the kids we have to come back just so we can bring our Tinky Winky to meet the rest of the Teletubby clan! Ceri, Dave, Rhys and Alys x

"We had a wonderful holiday. Many thanks for the directions, they were spot on, we didn't get lost once. The Gite was even better than we expected & the location was just perfect for our needs. The comments book was very helpful & we have made our own additions & recommendations (especially regarding the nautical centre on the nearby lake, well worth a visit). Once again, thanks for letting us use the Gite. We would definitely recommend it to our friends & would love to book again for next year."John (August 2005 guest, returning in 2006)

"All in all we had a great time, mind you virtual total sun from Tuesday to Tuesday certainly helped!! We don't necessarily seek heat, but a little warmth on your back is VERY nice. Thanks for letting us visit. Although we don't tend to return to places again and again, will certainly recommend yours to others. My daughter was interested because of the childrens amenities, so there's one for a start, feel free to use me as a reference if you want"Dave & Janice (June 2005 guests)

"Thanks for a spot-on week at your gite. The place is really nice - but I suppose you already know that.We had a great time. Did not lack for anything."Stuart (June 2005 guest, returning in 2006)

"I'd like to say a Big thank you for our time spent at the Gite over Christmas, it really was marvelous and Gemma and I had such a relaxing time. The house was perfect - everything we had hoped for and more."Richard (Christmas guest 2005)

We bought our French house in January 2004 as a holiday home, retirement fund and maybe a bit of rental as well, and since then we've had many fantastic relaxing family holidays there ourselves and hosted some 100 different sets of guests in our little corner of "la belle Francais". Please do contact us if you have any questions about renting or staying in our holiday home.
