  • The coastline. Within an hours drive are dozens of beaches, ranging from exclusive rocky coves to swathes of sandy expanses. The larger ones offer water sports and bars/restaurants. Youll often find you have the further, smaller ones to yourself.

  • The castles. Within a short drive are two of the best preserved Byzantine castles in the world. St Hilarion and Bufavento are wonderful attractions for children of all ages. Exuding history, each demands a visit.

  • The towns. Both Kyrenia and Nicosia are well worth visiting. In Nicosia in particular are museums, coffee shops, bazaars, mosques, restaurants - most of it not changed much since the "Peace Operation" of 1974. Kyrenia is packed with shops, bars and restaurants, as well as hosting the famous Kyrenia Castle.

  • The turtles. On the sandiest beaches to the East of Kyrenia, turtles lay their eggs in May. These hatch in July, and on some of the beaches you are permitted to sit and watch as the hatchlings are encouraged towards the sea.

  • The landscape. Pine-covered mountains run the length of the Northern coast, providing great walks. Bird-watchers and botanists will also love the variety of fauna and flora, both resident and migratory.I

  • The history. Quite apart from the castles mentioned earlier, Northern Cyprus also boasts pre-Roman ruins (Soli and Vouni), the huge Roman port of Salamis, the fortified walls of Nicosia and Famagusta, and countless other gems that will delight the historian.

The property was stunning ..beautiful pool ..marble staircase ..generous sized rooms 3 bathrooms . Great veiws from the pool . Garden balconys and bathrooms ...stewart the owner was both knowlegeable and helpful from the villa to car rental . The boat trip from the harbour is a must if you want to experience the beautiful clear ocean and swim and snorkle ..we had a fantastic week it was our first time in cyprus and we would definatly go back the north is very cheap and the people are very friendly . We spent the last day in the south which was much more expensive and touristy ..The north is definatly more to my taste ..highly recommend Blue horizon villa its one of the nicest i have stayed in and good value for money 😁

Beautiful property with amazing panoramic view of the sea and surrounding area. Light and airy throughout. However we found the entry code had been changed and we hadnt been informed. As the cleaner was about to leave when we arrived this posed no problem. Spotlessly clean and a very generous welcome hamper. I felt there could have been more outside seating, otherwise fantastic villa and hope to return.

I was really impressed overall.
Good points:
1.The owners supplied a welcome pack with food/drink for our arrival which was appreciated at 3 AM.
2. Good communications from owners pre arrival.
3. Fantastic pool with sea views
4.New building with good faciltiies
5.Good location for travelling on days out

Not so good
1.Several ant nests in building which was not a major problem but we couldnt leave food on worktops as they would get into it so everything had to go in the fridge.
2. Again a minor point but the wardrobe doors jammed and I had to remove one to get the doors open.

I would certainly stay again.

Stunning location! The villa was in a lovely quiet and safe area, great parking, outstanding sea views and was equipped with everything I needed. Stewart the owner was attentive and resolved any issues straight away, I couldnt fault the service I received.

The two double bedrooms are airy and spacious with en-suites and very clean. plenty of spare bedding, blankets and pillows too! The twin room was little tight and if you had two people staying in it it might be a challenge to get the wardrobe doors open without moving the beds a little but that also has a en-suite and lovely balcony and the rest of the villa has plenty of storage space anyhow.

I would say that a car is essential when staying in Esentepe as the nearest supermarket is 8 minutes drive and in the height of summer the walk there would be a bit overwhelming. Also the restaurants are scattered along the coast to the east of Girne (Kyrenia) so to get a good variety you do need transport. I would very much recommend Sea Breeze at Kucuk Erenkoy owned by Gokhan and his wonderful family who really take care of you and absolutely made the holiday for me. (about 10 minutes drive, turn right at the bottom of Esentepe hill) Great portion sizes, fantastic food and much less expensive than some of the more touristy restaurants. Jashan Restaurant you can get indian takaways from which again, huge portions and the food is exceptional which was great to eat at the villa on those evenings that you want to relax after being out all day and use the outside dining area at the villa.

I really cant fault Blue Horizon Villa but if I was to be objective I think the welcome manual could do with a little more detail. Finding out how to get hot water working etc took some working out and clearer instructions would have helped me settle in quicker.

With there being so many deserted beaches and great historical sites to travel to, some less than 10 minutes away I wanted to take some food and butties with me (most of the residents do this as there may not be a restaurant or shop near them) and there was no tuppaware to put anything in...very odd and quite silly thing to grumble about but when you see how beautiful the area is traveling to and exploring these hidden gems is key to enjoying the beauty of Northern Cyprus.

I fell in love with this area, the people and lanscape and I am sure that anyone who stays at this villa cannot fail to have a truely magical time in one of the most unspoiled and beautiful places in the med.

Thanks Stewart and I will definately book this villa again!!

Regards
Rachel
