The Local Area

Villa Alasia is situated on the coastline of Argaka, a beautiful and somewhat unspoilt Cypriot Village sandwiched between the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea and some spectacular mountains filled with pine trees.

Argaka is home to a number of traditional Cypriot restaurants, a beach bar and an Irish Bar as well as a bakery and 2 mini-markets. Many of these amenities are in walking distance of the villa or within a very short car journey. Travel a little way and you reach the bigger town of Polis.

There is plenty of activity to choose from, whether you wish to dine in one of the many restaurants, shop at some larger supermarkets, hire mountain bikes, quad bikes or just watch the world go by in the ambience of the traditional village square.

The nearby Latchi beach is renowned as one of the best on this side of the island and not as crowded as the beaches in and around Paphos itself (which can be reached by car in 30 minutes or under). Latchi beach is famous for its clear blue sea, soft white sand and a great selection of watersports which are readily available. Take one of the boat rides (or even hire your own) to the ‘blue lagoon’, have a swim and/or snorkel, then come back to the pretty harbour/fishing port and have the famous ‘Fish Meze’ where you will be served approx 20 dishes including some of the freshest catches of the day whilst watching the world go by.

For the more adventurous, you can enter the ‘Akamas’ Nature reserve and go all the way round to ‘Lara Beach’ famous for its turtles and wonderful beach. If it is unspoilt Cyprus you are looking for, this is a great area to visit. You may even venture into the nearby villages of Peristerona, Lysos and Miliou or further on to Kathikas (with its vineyards and wineries), Droushia and Panagia. Other fantastic scenery can be taken in at Cedar Valley and the Troodos mountain range where in Winter, you can even Ski!Paphos airport is 1 hour away by very good quality roads with English road signs. Review submitted by Justine from Germany (Submitted: 02/01/2024) ''The villa was perfect! Large, clean and in a great location. A short walk and you are right at the beach with a playground. A short drive and you are in a supermarket and small village We enjoyed and recommend my Mamma Mia Pizzaria and Aphrodite trail Completely satisfied with all service received! Communication via email was always quick and friendly. Everything agreed upon would be implemented. George was very friendly and helpful. He was available at any time Everything is great. Thank you again for the fantastic stay in Cyprus!'

Review submitted by Michelle from St Neots (Submitted: 03/09/2022) ''The Villa was fantastic! Perfect size for us a family of 7. It was very clean and had everything we needed. The pool and outside area was beautiful and where we spent most of our time. When we arrived I was slightly concerned I had booked somewhere in the middle of nowhere, but now I think that Argaka is a beautiful gem of Cyprus and the actual location of the villa was fantastic! So close to the beach and the amazing Santa Barbara. We also used Latchi Watersports centre for boat hire which was the highlight of our trip. Would highly recommend Santa Barbara Taverna and the Fly Again Irish bar. Both provided exceptional service, the staff were all very friendly and highly amenable, being attentive but not overbearing. The food and drink in both were fantastic and we had no complaints at all. The beach area by Santa Barbara was lovely. Stony but beautiful each and was lovely to have a dip in the sea. Very good value sunbeds and parasol too. I couldnt recommend Latchi Watersports Centre enough! There were plenty of little boat hire places in Latchi but I am so glad we went with these. The service was great, and we had the best day out exploring, the Blue Lagoon was out of this world! Very satisfied with your services. Communication was perfect at every step of the process, including whilst we were in Cyprus. Would highly recommend. Georgios was great, he popped in with some freshly picked mangoes off his trees which were delicious. We also spoke to him about being able to leave the villa later and as there was no booking after us he allowed us to stay in the villa until we needed as we had a late flight on the last day Nothing to suggest at all, was all perfect

Charlotte & Ross Apr 2022

Review submitted by Charlotte and Ross from London (Submitted: 18/04/2022) ''The villa was lovely thank you. It was very clean and well positioned. The garden was sheltered and well appointed for sun and shade throughout the day. The pool was fantastic - both size and temperature. It really made our stay. The hot water/showers were great. The kitchen was generally well equipped with a good range of utensils. Fantastic location- loved it. Quiet, but within such easy reach of a restaurant. The beach was so close we could hear the sea at night. Views up to the hills behind and along the coast were beautiful. It was easy to get to Polis and Latchi when we wanted more activity & shops, and an easy (and beautiful) drive to the Paphos side, but a really peaceful, relaxing location. Hiring a boat in Latchi and snorkelling was brilliant. We have done this before and went back to do it again! Latchi watersports were excellent. Go karting near Coral Bay was also excellent. Very well-run organisation- very clean and safe. Santa Barbara restaurant is so close to the villa and really good if you don’t want to drive. We were very satisfied with the service from you. Communication has been excellent throughout what turned into a 2 year process. With Covid and all it’s challenges, you have been excellent and I sincerely hope that you have weathered the storm well as we appreciate how difficult it must have been for you, but you have been helpful and customer-focused at every stage. Thank you. George was friendly and popped in a couple of times. I had his contact details but did not need to use them. He brought a bottle of wine for us mid stay, which was lovely, and left us fresh citrus fruit from the trees behind the villa. There were lovely flowers and chocolates left for our arrival, which was really kind and thoughtful. The mid stay clean was great- the team were efficient, friendly and unobtrusive. ''

Review submitted by Katie from Suffolk (Submitted: 30/08/2021) ''Absolutely beautiful villa. Fully equipped, clean, beautiful setting, immaculately clean and well kept. Stunning location. Argaka has become our favourite place (this was our second holiday to Villa Alasia) unspoilt, beautiful scenery, fantastic local restaurants. Santa Barbara didn’t disappoint again- fantastic food, friendly staff and incredible location. Very lucky to have this within walking distance. Fly again was good- good to watch sport and again a fantastic location on the beach. Carretta, Carretta tiki bar was great for drinks and cocktails and a reasonable stroll along the beach. Pas to Kima was an incredible setting and have been developed so much since our last visit. Great family run business, delicious local food and with stunning views of the sun set as do all of the local places in Argaka. Central point cafe in Polis was really nice for a toastie- a lovely little place to have drink and pick up souveneers abs ice cream whilst you were there. We also went on the Latchi Queen boat (again our second visit) and had a great trip- would 100% recommend. Absolutely, the best service I think we have ever received. Fast and extremely helpful. You answered many questions regarding the Covid situation and even allowed us an earlier check in and late check out which was how alt so kind and made a huge difference. We saw the gentleman who looked after the pool etc a few times and he was lovely. He even brought us a local wine and pastries from the bakery- all amazing touches that just added to the already fantastic service. Honestly can’t tell you how amazing our time was. Your service, the villa - everything! We think we have found the most idyllic gem! Thank you so much for everything. Your service is absolutely amazing, the villa and the upkeep of it is incredible and we are so grateful for the early check in and later check out today. Argaka and Villa Alasia are the best and we can’t wait to come again!''

Review submitted by Dave from Leics (Submitted: 15/08/2021) ''Fantastic villa, very nice rooms, plenty of space both inside and out. The property is 30 second walk to both the beach and the nearest bar. Sant Barbara's was excellent and on our doorstep, we ate there several times and used the takeaway facility once or twice, Irish bar was ok, Halfway House was good for lunch, Watermill at Steni was brilliant with great quality food and well worth a visit, Latchi was a bit quieter than normal, but still plenty of bars around the harbour to choose from. Latchi Watersport's as god as ever, we used Jet-ski’s, Paddle Boards and a Boat Hire, all a bit expensive but always worth the experience. With all that is going on we have been in regular communication for some time, always get a prompt answer to any questions. Local guy, George was brilliant, brought us fruit and wine and was quickly on hand with any questions we had. Local taxi company was used a few times again great service. Thank you personally for all your help and understanding over the past couple of years, also please pass on our thanks to George who was fantastic from the moment that we arrived at the villa till the point that we left. Look forward to booking with you guys again in the future.''

Review submitted by Garry from Chesterfield (Submitted: 02/06/2019) ''Thanks for getting in touch, I want to say first of all we had a fabulous holiday. Villa Alasia was everything we were expecting and more. Everyone in our party thought the same. The size, layout and condition was excellent. I think my mum described it as gorgeous and I can't disagree! I couldn't pick any faults with the villa as it exceeded our expectations. The location for the kind of holiday we wanted was just right. We wanted to be a little out of the way but still have access shops and bars/restaurants and of course the beach. The location ticked all of these boxes. The Santa Barbara restaurant was 2 mins walk from the villa and I can't recommend enough. The food was enjoyed by everyone the staff were fantastic and the location on the beach was perfect. The beach itself around the bar had a life guard on duty and was cleared of stones by the staff from the bar which we thought was superb. The views around the villa of the hills and coastline were stunning and were it not for having 3 children with us would have spent more time exploring these! Polis Town was 10 minutes away in a taxi which we used for the large supermarket there and again had lots of restaurants and was pleasant to walk around. I can't be more satisfied with the service provided by the good people at letsrentonline. Questions were always answered within the day and everything asked for was delivered!! Contacts on the ground in Cyprus were brilliant whenever called upon. The property manager bought extra wine and fruit a couple of days into the holiday and when the pool net needed replacing was round within an hour. The taxi driver you put us in touch with was always on hand to take us into town at reasonable prices and always on time. Everyone was so lovely to us and more helpful than we could expect. Could not thank everyone enough!! We have already started considering our next villa holiday is we loved the privacy and freedom it offered us. Once again I would like to thank you all for a fabulous time we had on holiday, it is a trip we won't ever forget. Many thanks, Garry

Review submitted by Emma & Tony from Hampshire (Submitted: 11/07/2018) ''Villa Alasia is a great property if you are looking for a relaxing family sized location. It is clean and well equipped and the private pool is a just the right size for a family party. The local area of Argaka is beautiful. Because it is in a more rural location, it is ideal if you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing holiday experience. There are a few restaurants within walking distance, in particular - Santa Barbara Restaurant and Beach Bar is a very special place; excellent food, first class friendly service and a ‘million-dollar-view’ of the setting sun each night as it dips below the sea’s horizon. It’s really very special. In our view, you could probably eat here each evening and still not have everything off the menu. Bike hire is available from Yiannis who is situated next to Santa Barbara and a trip along the coast road toward Pomos is a great way to spend a day. But make sure you take lots of water for the journey. In addition, there are a couple of mini-markets within a walking distance which sell most grocery provisions. When we first booked, our intention was to try and do the holiday without a car. But, in our view, a car is a good idea, particularly if you want to shop at a larger supermarket. the closest of which is in Polis and not within walking distance. Also, with a car - you can take a trip into Latchi which is a lovely harbour town with many good seafood restaurants.

Review submitted by Nick from West Midlands - (Submitted: 27/03/2017) ''In reply to your email request on our thoughts etc of villa alasia. Property was excellent, no real complaints at all. Location was quiet as described, ideal for couples wanting a nice quiet holiday, but near enough to get to other places with a car. Santa Barbara very good, Lisa's place only went once, food was very nice but very quiet when we went, Coast restaurant very nice food but front of house a bit strange. Halfway way very good but a bit of a walk, very friendly owners though. Steven is an absolute pleasure to deal with. Fully professional service. Nothing is too much trouble, will be recommending to our friends. Locally we had no problems at all, the owner greeted us the next morning, came immediately when tap broke and even came to thanks us when we left. We thoroughly enjoyed our first experience of renting a villa independently from a travel agent. Many thanks again Nick ''.
