Spent two lovely weeks in the Pink Cottage March 7th to 21st 2017. Got the breakfast watching the hummingbird through the kitchen window! You need a car as the access road is "interesting"! We enjoyed relaxing in the garden after a hard day on the beach. Adored the resident cats, we miss the visits from Cleo and her mates. Sonia was so helpful from the moment we arrived. Thank you so much. The only thing we missed was air-conditioning, it was so hot you ended up wetter after a shower than during it! Take plenty of mozzy repellant. The stronger the better, I smothered myself every day but still ended up with over 36 bites during the holiday.

Hi Susan

Thank you for your review, I'm so pleased you both had a nice stay overall at Pinkshack, I know that you enjoyed the garden space very much and made the most of the sun lounge chairs provided, these are our new addition, along with out new cookout station BBQ patio with table and chairs so guests can make most of the Pinkshack gardens... We miss you too... I'm a bit confused and wondering what went wrong with communication about the air conditioning thing though, because you have an air conditioning unit fully working in the cottage, I'm positive that I mentioned the air conditioning is an optional extra for 20USD per night when you first checked in... I'm so sorry that there was some misunderstanding about that, because had I known you were getting too hot on occasion I would have suggested the air conditioning optional extra, because its very effective indeed and turns the cottage into a very cool space or even into an ice box if you need it... I'm genuinely sorry about that, I really am and wish I could have known so that I could fix it for you... The pussycats miss you very much and thank you so much as well for leaving the cottage so clean and tidy and also for looking after Mandy the Mitsubushi jeep... Take care and all the best and thank you again for a lovely review...

My wife & I booked a week at Pink Shack Studio Cottage in Five Islands Village in Antigua at relatively short notice. We were in contact with owner, Sonja from the start. On arrival Sonja gave us a great informative 30 minute tour of the local sites and beaches on the Five Islands peninsula to orientate us, which was a big help as the area does not appear very well described in guide books on Antigua. And although we were staying just a 10 minute drive from the capital St. Johns, the Five Islands area is very unspoilt and relatively cut off from other more tourist areas.

The accommodation was self-contained and any requests to Sonja were happily granted, making our stay a wonderful experience.

We decided the best and quietest beaches were the small secluded cove in front of Georgio Armani's private house and the first & third of the four consecutive Hawksbill beaches. A vehicle is not 100% necessary, but is recommended to get to see the many beautiful beaches and sites that Antigua has to offer.

Finding somewhere to eat in the Five Villages area was more difficult as the several 'all inclusive' hotels in the area made buying a day pass or bookings in advance a necessity, however we usually had lunch at the Hawksbill Beach Hotel which charged us a reasonable price for what we ate. Other times we ate in at the Pink Shack after shopping in St Johns, also in restaurants in St Johns or elsewhere on the island.

The only small gripes we had with the accommodation were the intermittent internet access, out of Sonja's control, a problem with the internet provider and occasionally a dog barking next door early in the morning (Sonja's small toy breed dogs never were a problem).

All in all we had a fantastic stay here and would happily recommend it to anyone else wanting to book a small cottage away from the packaged holiday crowds.

We stayed at Pink Shack Cottage for the week of September 20-27, 2014. We had such an amazing time here in Antigua! Sonja, the owner of the property, is the nicest person and is so accommodating. She is extremely friendly and cheerful and was very welcoming to us on our arrival and throughout the entire week. She took us on a tour around to the various beaches near the cottage. She recommended various restaurants and gave wonderful directions when we needed them. The cottage itself is so cute and cozy. It is impeccably clean and tidy. The porch has seats and a table great for having coffee in the morning and listening to the birds chirp and the tropical greenery and palm trees sway with the breeze.
Within 5 minutes driving time are many gorgeous beaches that are easily accessible to get to. These are: Hawksbill Beaches (4), Galley Bay, Armani Beach, Hideaway Bay, and Deep Bay. There is Fort Barrington at Deep Bay that you can hike up to for the most spectacular view of the bays and the mountains, as well as seeing the old fort and walking through it. Close by is also a great panoramic view of the Five Islands community that you can drive to most of the way and then walk the rest of the way up. The port city and capital of St. John is about 10 minutes away by car and that is where you can get groceries and supplies at the market, fresh fruits and vegetables, and where we ate most dinners. I highly recommend C&C Wine Bar, Big Banana Pizzas in Paradise, and Freds Belgium waffles and ice cream. They are all in Redcliffe Quay. I would recommend renting an SUV of some sort to have access to the other parts of the island. Some other beaches and places of interest are: Jolly Harbor area, Valley Church Beach The Nest Beach Bar, Ffrye Beach, Darkwood Beach, Turner Beach, Hermitage Beach, Shirley Heights, Devils Bridge.
We had such an amazing time here and did not want to leave. I have already recommended this cottage to multiple people we met on the trip who stayed in secluded resorts. They were quite jealous when we told them about Pink Shack Cottage, the beautiful area of Five Islands, and what other parts of the island we were able to see with a rental car. I will also be recommending this cottage to my other friends where we live in Texas. We cant wait to go back and visit again! We already miss Sonja and her cute little dogs!

The Pink Shack is a hidden gem we stayed for six weeks starting in April and ending in June. The cottage was as described and the Five Islands village was rural ethnic
Caribbean with the people so friendly.
Beautiful beaches within walking distance and the capital St Johns a short bus ride away or a forty minute walk. The capital is a busy vibrant town where you can try almost any type of cuisine and any drink.!
Sonja the owner was so helpful and friendly nothing was too much trouble, she took us on a tour of the area to show where all the beaches were she supplied us with a cool box and lightweight sun beds.
The village BBQ on Thursdays and Saturdays were great fun with good food and cold beers!
We will certainly go back again and would recommend the cottage to anyone who wants a tranquil getaway in a quaint cottage in a tropical garden. Perfect!!

We have just returned from spending 8 wonderful days at the Pinkshack Cottage. The property is well furnished to a high standard, everything you need is provided, the cottage is spotless. Sonja, the owner, is a charming hostess and every day she makes you feel special with nice details such as giving you fruit from a lovely tropical garden, we even had a guided tour highlighting the various plants, shrubs and trees. Sonja gave us helpful information about the area. Her little dogs are very friendly and well behaved
About the village, we strongly recommend the chicken and fresh fish barbecue which you takes place every Thursday and Saturday, near the hairdresser.
The small village store/pub provides basic provisions such as bread, local fresh eggs...The closest beach (10 mn walk) is one of the most beautiful beaches. We also took the buses from Five Islands village to St. Johns, very typical and good service.

My boyfriend and I stayed in Pinkshack end May/beginning of June and had an amazing time! The place is really lovely, set back in a green garden in the country side of Antigua. This place is for relaxing and just enjoying life. The little house is surrendered by exotic trees and plants. It was really relaxing coming home from the beach and spend the evenings on the porch watching the humming birds. The are many beaches you can walk to from the place, within 15 minutes you can pretty much end up having your own beach. The owner Sonja is great! She helped us with everything/anything. We rented a car for two days and travelled around the island. Really recommend it since it was a lot of nice places to see. I would recommend this place to anyone, its amazing and absolutely perfect! x Linda and Dave

Well what can we say... Sonja the owner of the Pink Shack was so very helpful form the moment we made our booking and gave us lots of advise before we had even departed the UK. On arrival Sonja was there to pick us up which was great at the end of a long flight and arriving in a new country. Sonja made sure we popped by a supermarket to pick us the necessary supplies for our first night, gave us the number to arrange car hire which we must say worked out far more reasonable than pre booking from home. The Pink Shack was superbly presented and very quaint with everything one would need for a stay in Antigua. It was very welcoming and made us feel at home as soon as we got there. The property is set in a well maintained tropical garden in a secluded part of the island which had easy access to the capital and routes to the rest of the island. Sonja was full of useful information and would always go to extra lengths to provide us with what we needed or point us in the right direction to make our stay all we wanted. If there was something Sonja did not know the answer to, a couple of calls later, hay presto, there was the answer! All in all our stay was superb and we would not hesitate to recommend Sonja and the Pink Shack to anyone looking for a vacation in Antigua. We will always remember our stay and when we travel back to the Island we would not choose anywhere else but the Pink Shack. A must for all. Richard and Kate 4th – 16th June 2013

My wife Angela and I stayed at The Pink Shack in Antigua, and it was probably the best vacation weve had yet. We are both avid travelers, and of all the place weve been, Sonja at the pink shack was by far the most accommodating, and personable. It is a quiet cottage in the five islands, we rented a car and traveled the whole island, and we both agree that five islands is the best. The cottage is clean, homey, and you feel really comfortable as soon as you enter. Has a full kitchen and even a charcoal BBQ if your in the mood for a cook out! There is lots to explore nearby, and saint johns is a 2 minute drive away!! Sonja is really nice and will set up any excursions you may want to do. This was very helpful as there are lots of people that offer you these excursions at jacked up prices or try to rip you off.. Sonja has stayed and lived on the island for years and really knows what shes doing. We both love this woman, and love the pink shack. We will be going back soon and CANT WAIT!!! We recommend this place to EVERYONE

" Thank you for a lovely time at the Pinkshack, we thought the cottage was lovely and very cosy to stay in, we had everything we needed. Even though our two stays were short ones we have recommended you to all of our friends and colleagues who will be passing through Antigua on their way back to Europe... Thank you we have no hesitation in recommending your cottage ... P Hendriksen

2014 Update... Pinkshack Studio is situated in a very private mature lush tropical garden and home to many birds, plants tropical flowers and various spectacular matured palms,Caribbean fruit and flowering tropical trees, as a result many of the panoramic and distant sea views have been obstructed by the natural tropical fauna which give ultimate privacy and serenity to our guests... We are working on a new 'over the canopy' viewing balcony and communal entertainment area which is over 15 feet in height and rises way above Pinkshack's Tropical Canopy deliights, The Pink Dink look out will restore all previous views and add even further stunning views for our guests enjoyment.. Other things we can arrange car hire for you (car hire is recommended although a frequent bus service passes us to St Johns). We can arrange tours and recommend restaurants for lunch or dinner and explain the highlights of the Island which you should not miss during your stay here. A fabulous Island hop to nearby
