Villa Da Vinci - Sirmione
The apartment is a brand new development, completed last year.
The build is to a very high standard and there are only 28 apartments built.
There is a wonderful communial pool which has a resident lifeguard during the high season, plus a jaccuzi and childrens pool.
The apartment is on the 2nd floor (top) and is serviced by either stairs or lift right to the door.
There is underground parking and there are 6 bikes which can be used during the stay.
The apartment is fully furnished to a high standard and is really a second home to us.
We have purchased the tower which is accessed from within the apartment and an electric staircase.
This provides a great additional bedroom for 2 people which has panoramic views of the lake and mountains.
The bathroom is modern with a walk in shower, plus bidet.The washing machine is situated here also.
The lounge/dining/kitchen area can comfortably seat 6 people (the table extends to seat 8) and the balcony with built in barbecue can also seat 6 comfortably.
The lift comes straight from the underground double garage to outside the apartment door, great for shopping trips and suitcases.
The complex has some permanent residents (all Italian) as well as some apartments which are used for weekends and holidays by the owners
The site has a secure perimeter, gated access and gates to the underground car park.
The Lake is literally a 5 minute walk away as are shops for everyday needs.
There are 2 very large hypermarkets nearby plus retail designer outlets.
There are many fantastic restuarants nearby all of which will have directions from the apartment found in the information book in the apartment
For the children there is Gardaland, Italys equivalent of Disneyland and every bit as good, plus large water parks nearby, zoo and other theme parks, all within 30-40 mins drive.
For people who just want to chill out, there are great walks around the Lake, all of the region is bike friendly with cycle tracks all over making it safe for children.
The Lake is fantastic for swimming, fishing or any of the many sports activities such as pedalos, wind surfing etc.
The area is predominantly Italian as it is where they tend to go from Milan for their holidays so it is not over commercialised, although in the port of Sirmione there are night clubs for those who like to enjoy the night life but it is far enough away not to impact on the residents.
The restuarants are well priced and not loaded for the tourists, and you can enjoy fine Italian cuisine from between 10-75€ per person in the many restaurants.
Venice is approx 2 hours away by train. Verona just 20 minutes and all served by an excellent road infrastructure.
The climate is fantastic as the lake has its own micro climate due to being surrounded by the mountains.
Temperatures around 30-35c are common from June onwards.
We have been going to this area for 4 years and have got to know a lot of good restuarants (and vineyards) and interesting places to visit.
There are still years to go before you will probably see everything.
The holiday can be as relaxed or as active as you like, its up to you.

Liz says: "We thoroughtly enjoyed our stay at Villa Da Vinci. The location is perfect for such a wide variety of activities from Gardaland and water parks through to climbing mountains and visiting Venice! The lakeside itself is breathtaking, and the children loved swimming off the back of pedaloes and canoeing etc.
While we were there all the other residents were Italian. They were incredibly welcoming and our family was actively encouraged to join in with their games of water polo in the shared pool. (The pool was plenty big enough for others to swim or lie on lilos while the games went on). Language was never a barrier, despite the fact that none of us speak a word of Italian!
The apartment itself was very comfortable and if anything the pictures on the web site do not do it full justice. The facilities were very good, and the provision of bicycles is inspired! We cycled up the peninsular of Sirmione a couple of times and saved a lot on car parking costs! Also the bikes were great for popping to the shops etc. The whole area is very bike friendly. There are 3 adult sized bikes, 2 teenage sized ones and one pre-teen sized bike.
Plenty of good places to eat out, and of course you MUST try out the ice-cream cafe on the main road near the lakeside one evening (or more!)
I would definitely recommend this villa as an excellent value apartment in a superb location.
